My game on Immortal III - Ramesses II

right now i don't remember the exact number of the game, but in one of SE (Snack Economy) series AbsoluteZero striked for like 50 turns on unimproved tiles after getting the whole starting continent.

Searched for that without success :(. Can anyone provide a link?

OT: Good Job Deity Player getting rid of Alexander. I will keep following your adventures :]

really? don't you start losing 1 unit / turn at random? And that includes workers!

There's a floor of unit(s)/city that's exempt from being deleted no matter how negative your gpt is. And no, I don't remember what it is.

EDIT: Here's the link to AZs strike-o-rama in the Peter SE game:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=406825&page=2

According to AZ, you're allowed 1 garrison per city that will not be deleted no matter how bad you strike. In that game he spammed as many settlers as he could before he hit strike, and settled as many cities as possible, garrisoning them each with one of his best troops. He then ran scientists to get to currency (he was able to get 83bpt during strike). His comment on this strat: "If you're going to strike, strike big."

My endgame:

Spoiler :

It ended up in a 1921 space race victory. During my industrial buildup Shaka attacked and capped both Toku and Hammu so it was me + 2 vassals against Shaka + 3 vassals. I wasnt in a mood to fight against 40 cities so i just built some navals defense. Shaka dowed two times, first one was defended with destroyers against galleons. In the second attempt he was able to sneak a small stack to my continent which basically was his infantry vs my artillery and modern armor. Anyway a funny game.

One thing concerning WHEOORN: Does BUG mod show the red fist indicating war preperations when there are only two master states left (like here me + vassals vs big AI + vassals) or is it then basically like semi-isolation where you get no hint.

Thank you huerfanista for the link :goodjob:

Spoiler :
This turnset was a tough recovering phase. Basically, I whipped granary -> library -> obelisk everywhere and tried to keep 2 scientists + 1 or 2 priests everywhere. The research of currency was very slow, maybe I would have done better with alpha (building research) instead of math . I had to do a lot of micro to let my economy work. I put some cottages around my capital and settled this new city, which provided gold and was also cottaged.
Spoiler :

Other cities were farmed and ran specialists. You can't see it in the attached save since I traded for sugar with Mao in the last turn and let my cities grow.

EDIT: I built an academy in the capitel with my first great scientist.

Spoiler :
Research CoL while building wealth and running specialists and whip courthouses everywhere. Settle the rest of the land. Maybe even attack Mao with medieval units since he has built only 5 cities so far and has the Great Lighthouse.

I also settled 1 GS in capital and another one is on his way to capital to settle there, too.
I will revolt to burreaucracy on this turn.

EDIT:
Spoiler :
I also built Forbidden Pallace.
Another important question is, whether to revolt to caste system. Slavery is powerful but this is a food heavy map and I run 2 scientests + 2 priests in many cities. 4 scientests would be much better.

Possible plans for the next turnset. I would appreciate any advice now.
Spoiler :

1. Research construction and conquer our continent.
2. Try to settle the NW island, it looks that there is no other AI.
3. Tech peacfully.

1 and 2 are maybe risky since my economy is not in a very good shape. But I believe that either of these possibilities could be done when played carefully.
If I choose 3, I am not decided what to research next. Mao doesn't have alpha yet which sucks.

Caste System is very powerfull too. I think that will help a lot with the scientests and merchants and of course GS and GM

Wow avoiding alphabet and getting math has set you back quite a bit. The civil service beeline didn't do anything for you economically, but you've farmed up and bureau gets you some hammers so get to war and clean up the continent.

I shouldn't say CS beeline did nothing and theres no way you can anticipate China not doing alpha and allowing for say a monarchy trade to allow you to grow your cities a bit more. But you also had a chance to get a religion going theology into paper which nets you 2 religious buildings that give +4 hammers +4 research for each city. At the cost of delaying CS a bit...

Hmm, alpha would have been much better that math, lesson learnt.
Now, I will probably try to go to a war with Mao since a medieval war is something I never do and I want to learn something new. Cross your fingers please ;).

With an equal powerrating and twice the amount of cities i think you will be able to eliminate him. Depending on whats going on on the other continent you will probably lose liberalism... which is not that bad given the number of cities you will have :)

Spoiler :

This was a long and bloody war... But succesful!

First, I lost this city (whipping a spearman didn't help).
Spoiler :

civ4screenshot0000v.jpg

But then I started my countarattack. It was slow, but rather strong since I built tons of catapults. Mao had longbowmen from the beginning of the war which looked bad. But he mostly used them as offensive units instead of fortyfying them in cities .

I also partially researched education and with a little luck, I will bulb the rest of it with a GS ~8 turns later. I also have some money to help with researching philosophy so maybe the liberalism race is not lost yet :).

My plan for the next turnset.
Spoiler :
Let my cities grow to their happy limit. Build 4 settlers quickly and settle the rest of my continent. Try to win the liberalism race. Then (or if I can't win the liberalism race) try to make contact with the other continent quickly.

If you can grow to happy limit and bulb astronomy your beakers will take off after meeting the other continent.

Heres my 1100 AD
Spoiler :

Settling those 4 ~15 hammer sites first before the war made a big difference + china build pyramids + oracle CoL and bulb Theology nets me +4 hammers, gold and research in every city. Astronomy and meeting the other continent doubles the beakers from trade and observatories (+25% and a third rep scientist).

Beware Deity Player!
Mao has Choco Nu (choco girls ?:hmm:)

I had a coop game break down about 2 weeks ago, and I had CKNs against my opponent (who declared on me over a city/culture argument). He had longbows and whatnot but not knights yet...lots of leftover classical melee but also HA, xbow, maces.

Despite being on the same continent, my galleons had a huge impact on the outcome, as did the terrible-for-sp guerilla promo as I could drop packs of 6 guerrilla 2 CKN on a hill in his territory and use them to threaten multiple lightly-defended cities near a hill-strip, all while having powerful collateral initiative on his initial inbound stack.

When people don't have 2309587039 production bonuses, the 2 hill move + 12 defense strength of longbow/xbow while defending on hills is a serious problem.

As this guy was somewhat a rookie amongst our group, he moved into my territory to fight me as if an AI. His offense got collateral'd/killed while his defense couldn't handle 4 different fronts of attack. He was dead in less than 20 turns despite having a larger empire ;). CKNs can be very, very nasty.
