And now, a gift with ill tidings. The ill tidings first: I won't be reopening fCNES this summer. I will be too busy. And now for the gift: the unfinished fCNES world map. I'm still working on it. Right now I'm doing the mountains for the otherwise completed parts of the southern continent. However, I though I'd post it unfinished now anyway. Yes, I cheated and used a modified version of Southeast Asia at one point, but there are no other borrowings.

 A wonderful contribution to my collection. Cuiv, I salute you. :salute:

Sweet. I wonder if the borders should be thickened like the old map. Maybe we could adopt a new map-drawing standard, but I don't think we'd overcome the inertia.

Lovely map. Saraza, I will miss thee!

Yeah, I manually drew every mountain in LINESII. :p

Sweet map. Parts (Spain, Gambia, France, Turkey) could use a river, but other than that its really good.

I think that part of Symph's reason to do a new map was to get rid of the double-thickness borders... :p

No, of course not. However, fwiw I think single-border style looks better.

I thought so, too, for a long time. But I've been working with a LOT of maps from either style over the last few months, as my cryptic avatars demonstrate, and ultimately, thick borders are more pleasing, or so I've seen.

I decided I liked that new map, so I'm using it for my 1700 one:

Hows it look? I'm going for a new division of nations. Countries like Ireland, Egypt and Tunis are surronded in a border showing their vassalage to another nation. Britian is surronded by the Netherland's border because at the time they were pretty much united under William of Orange I believe. It will be similar with Poland (Saxony).

Anyways, how my new map look?

That's hardly all of Africa. Thus far, though, it looks good.

All I have is a map of Europe (With Turkey and N. Africa)

I still need a map of the whole world with colonies and such. Its pain. I cant find a full map.

Yes, I know, having done this a lot. However, persevere. There's probably a lot of info on Wikipedia, for starters.

I think Europe could use somemore rivers.

And Turkey.

I began work on the Ottoman Empire. I keep getting agitated cause things look to big, do they look about right or should I redo some sizes?

Question: What is the standard of a river making it in to the map (other than size)?

Placement aid? (every single European capital except one is on a river, and so on)

Historical Importance? (If so, then the Po should be in, as well as)

---

I can understand not including the Reno River, as it is rather minor, and located near the Po. The Rhône River should be in as well, and people can pick and choose from [wiki]List of rivers in Europe[/wiki]

If you want it geographically, I would include the Guadiana (South Spain/Portugal), the Loire River, and a few more.
