Why not just make the moon collide with Mars so that it veers out of its course and closer to the sun? It would make terraforming it easier, and the moon is also terraformed along wit it. :D

Or just blow them up and do not worry about it.
 
I might look into it. If you have any links to maps that can be edited, I'd be happy to work on them. If not, I can do some browsing myself.

It's a picture of Mars as it would look after terraforming. Neat, huh?
 
Calculated upon basis of elevations alone, no? I can't see the craters randomly filling up when they have no connection to the sea.
 
I just found the image. Never said it was perfect, did I? :p Plus there is almost no cloud cover. I guess you'd still need space suits or some sort of haz-gear. Not much vegetation to speak of either. Maybe it's a scenario where water is added, but the atmosphere is still CO2-based?
 
Once water is added I would so buy a ton of land on beachfronts. Infact I might by a couple hundred acres this week.

The cloud cover is missing. ;) Still, terraforming of Mars might be a possible escape for Humanity when faced with the gradually increasing heat emanated by the Sun. As Earth slowly becomes the equivalent of today's Venus, the water could be shipped to Mars. That would save us (once) from the rather uncertain business of sending colony ships to distant stars.

Naturally, this won't be a real scenario until at least 100k more years, unless we somehow manage to screw up our planet. But if it does become a necessary step for survival, I'm sure the human race will be capable to pull it off.
 
Yes, but with Mars' low pressure, a lot of clouds will form, bringing rain. Then we can use electrolysis to get O2 from the water, (power could come from solar plants or wind generators) and slowly improve the living situation on the Red Planet.
 
Read the books Red Mars, Green Mars, Blue Mars. :)

carmen, I assume you have kept the coastlines and all that? The thing is, it is most often easiest to use the eraser tool to clear it so that the interior (which most often cosists of irregular colors in a big messy mash) is separated and can be dealt with without risking to damage the finished coastline. At least, that's the way I do it. I know it can seem quite risky to redraw the coasts, but it saves you for the hassle of painting one pixel at a time.
