NES World/Regional Maps Requests Thread

Just need a map made and I can start it. Any volunteers?

One last little remark. How about making Utah its own state, called Deseret? It seems unlikely that in an age of seperatism the Mormons would allow themselves to assimilate into a Spainish Revanchist Nation

I made this with a blank US map from google. I don't know how to do Mexico maybe you should exclude them?

No Jeps wanted a map and I made it for him. I took a whim. Maybe you could look through some of the election maps made by RoddyVR. He may have a US map for you with states. I would PM him about it.

I actually think Maine should be part of New England. Aztlan should be remained the Union of Phoenix or something along those lines? I think it is very unlikely the people down there would rename themselves off an ancient dead culture.

Edit: Sorry about the double post :(

On a map with Canadian provinces, Mexican states would look very odd, because they're so tiny. Three of them are on the Yucatan Pennisula, for example, and those are some of the larger ones. I suggest you just leave them out, j_eps.

EDIT: Also, while I'm not sure what sort of rules you want, that map would make for an excellent board NES.

On the Aztlan thing, its not a dead culture thing, its the fact that there is currently a seperatist movement in that EXACT region to create a Mexican Nation-State called Aztlan. J-Eps is saying that the Spanish take over that region, so i'm saying it should be called what they want it to be called:)

Well the whites I am guessing will be at same level as the Mexicans if that does takes place that will be an extrememly violant region between two racial groups. Even if the Spanish regain control somehow it will be an interesting situation.

Okay. Mexico can be left out. I was thinking story NES, but it could be possible to do a board NES. I was also sort of hoping for an enlarged section of North America on the Jason map, though another larger image map could work.

The Spanish do take over those few states, and don't worry, lots of rebellions:

Maine, Labrador, Utah, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, etc.

Wars on the horizon : Texas/Southern Union, Quebec/Maritime Union

EDIT: 1000x610 pixel map of NA. Can be expanded more so long as it does not become pixellated. If anyone could add borders as per the 1st map (second doesnt have Nunavut) and add in a city-state of New York city, I would appreciate it a lot. Colours do not need to stay the same. If wanted, a base map of US and canada (state by state) and not as part of a union etc. would be helpful as well.

Edit2: Added a 2000x1220 map. Which ever one whoever makes the map wants to use. Also, if the borders are a bit off, I don't care that much. The second Hawaii's borders are wrong i'll know somethings up though.

Maybe you should open a new thread for this? This is supposed to be the Maps thread, not a discussion thread for new NESes.

I know. This whole time i've been trying to get a map made but I always answer questions people ask, and that takes a while (and lots of posts)

Does this mean the Asians took over California? ;)

I have a map that needs beautifying. Not a very big deal, just adding some cities, checking if my borders are OK, etc. I did most of the work already. If someone can do it I'll PM them the map with the date. Thanks in advance.

Mapping question: does anybody know if there is some manner of converting map projections mechanically (ie: not just redrawing it by hand)? For example, turning a Miller into a Robinson?

You'd probably need some kind of program for it, given all the differences in the distortions.

And I bet that kind of software is hard to come by, at best. Currently redrawing a map myself. On MSP... :D I like to say I made it pixel by pixel. (Which is true)

Yes, but it would a) require expensive software (I know the ArcGIS package can certainly do it, currently retailing at about $200 or so), and b) take quite a while even then if your just starting off with an image (as you have to mechancially assign and anchor points) less time if you already have soem data - but it took me a week of full time work to convert a scanned miller map into a robinson, and that was just doing europe.
