NES World/Regional Maps Requests Thread

Oh, is that the twist for your map idea? Is that future or past continental drift? It looks like a mix of both. Africa's breaking up, but South America contacts Africa.
It's a "lets alter Earth in random, nonsensical ways" map from the early Alt-Hist threads.

King'o'North and ye other Cartographers of the Grand Forum, We do hereby request the creation of Historicall World Maps for the Year 1648 Anno Domini (precisely after the Treaty of Westphalia goes into effect) and for the Year 1815 Anno Domini (precisely after the Congress of Vienna). Your reward shall be aeternal gratitude (also if anyone makes Never-Ending-Storys based on the respective alternate historys We shall be using these for, We shall recommend you for the Privelege of Reservation or somesuch).

So wait...you want maps of 1815 and 1648 for a possible NES YOU might do? Or just a PoD map? Or somebody else's NES? Or somebody else's PoD? But then why would they ask you to ask and why would you be saying we? But that could also be cryptic double talk....or not?

Yes! No! Maybe! :p

In more detail:
1) I want the maps of 1815 and 1648 for future use in general, actually (those being important watershed moments and all; the 1815 map in particular would be useful for any people that might try and make a post-Napoleonic NES in the future, we never did get a proper, long-running one in the end);
2) More specifically I want the 1648 as a template for my Ming althist map, and the 1815 as a template for the althist maps for the althist that I'll write after I finish the Ming one (a new idea, that; I've been quite excited about it lately);
3) My next NES would likely be based on the setting of the guess-the-PoD map I posted in the alternate history thread a while ago;
4) The reason we have an alternate history thread here - apart from somewhat off-topic non-NES-related discussions within this particular community and without World History forum peasants joining in ;) - is to create various interesting althist settings for NESes (as well adapt other ones and so on). So it is possible that the maps that I'll make based on the historical template maps I just requested would indeed become maps for someone else's NESes, eventually;
5) We are the Master of the NESing Forum Alternate Histories, and we demand maps! ;)

I will ignore number 5, das. ;)

When I am fairly finished with the current map project, which will probably extend somewhat into June, I can get right to work on advancing those maps; I'll probably go with a 1453 and a 1500 or 1520 to bridge the gap, then I can go right into 1648.

For 16th century I'd recommend 1525, actually.

I really would like the 1648 map sooner than that, though, if possible.

Well, I was going to hunt out a specific date later. I was mostly just looking for something where the Americas started going to hell, and the Reformation was in full swing.

Name your bribe.

1525 is really as good a date as any in those regards, but it is useful because of a lull in the Italian Wars that ensued and because this is on the brink of the Ottoman invasion of Hungary. Basically, this would be the zenith of Charles V's power.

Name your bribe.

Well, I already promised reservations, didn't I? I suppose I could also offer my gratitude, and that of alex994 and Dachspmg as well, for good measure. ;)

Plus its a good cause and so forth.

I'm willing to solicit opinions on where to crop this. Personally I'm inclined to chop everything west of Amukta in the Aleutians and everything east of the Virgin Islands in the Caribbean off.

Regarding other issues: yes, Trinidad is screwed up; no, it is not functional as is; yes, I am working on file size; no, there will not be a coastal border--I've come to conclude they serve no real useful function at all, glow or not.

I like it Sym! It's funny, there are a lot of lakes on the Upper Yukon River that don't show up just because every single lake in the region is extremely long and skinny.

Symphony D:

How did you make that North America map, and are you planning on making similar ones for other parts of the world (or the globe as a whole)?
