NESing Guide

But to someone new, the op is impossibly over complicated.

Orders thread isn't in the Notice Board, and several of its other topics are outdated too.

My apologies, I thought it was. As for the outdated topics, people should feel free to contact the moderators for updates into the Notice Board. (Yes, I know a very late reply, but it's better than no reply at all)

I think it's good for newbies.
When I came there to try NES, I've read this one and it really helped me! (according to my first and second orders to Cradle of Life and the fact that I started one NES already and another one is in "preparing" state could make some sense)

I don't think that this need some kind of improving...
Maybe just more explaining types of NESes as Carmen mentioned.

I just started my first NES and I think it is a huge help

In preparation for the hypothetical horde of curious newcomers, I propose the use of the [set_anchor] and [anchor] tags in three mini-table of contents to reduce to overwhelming factor of three-posts worth of NESing guide, or make a new one altogether that takes up only up to one post's worth.

Actually, I'd say we should simply revise it and cut out the extraneous bits. Honestly, the vast majority of stuff in there is redundant.

As i have said elsewhere, while a brilliant encyclopedia, it isnt a easy to access guide.

I mention again that it would not be insensible for the guide to be placed onto the Wiki, if only because then it's a fairly simple matter for it to be added to and refined by everybody, as opposed to a thread where only one person can easily change it--which is the very problem with the current version.

Very true, i'd need to learn wiki coding, but that can't be that hard...

I am going to post that here, because the discussions are linked: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=198304&page=26

Because then anytime somebody wants to modify something to make it better, or change something, we have to call in Gelion, who's not always the easiest man in the world to reach, or petition a moderator.
Hey! I am here, I am active, I am groovy.

Give me something worth updating, or at least something you want to work on: changed structure, new terms, NES directory.
Some people have suggested changes - I welcome them. Most of those said the guide was complicated, but most of my confidence comes from people who have posted in the Guide thread and said it was useful. It is sufficient (though not perfefct obvisouly) the way it is.

I am not against wikiing the Guide so long as someone does it. I was against an unnecessary move that was done "for the sake of it" as far as I am concerned. If you can do something on the wiki - great, do it.

Actually I quite like it. Perhaps the guide to MODING could be seperate to the guide to PLAYING?

Good idea, and also a good idea to bring this thread up again (I'm serious).

That is, I agree with Abby.

A guide to modding seems even more pitfall-laden than a guide to playing. There's a much bigger debate over how to mod, and styles to use...

If you limit the contributions to those who have sufficient experience (ie set standards,or instance modded at least 4 games and a total of 20 updates) then you would get only the most experienced input.

What I was more thinking was that section 4 could be removed and placed in a seperate guide.
