NESLife attempt #3

Just preserving bodily functions/enzyme reactions at those temperatures...

As I said, it is very unlikely. It is not, however, impossible. Besides, it was a joke, I really don't want any fire breathing animals, it would completely destroy the game.

Now that I have gotten that out of the way, there is a very simple way to conduct the breathing of flame without the majority of those disadvantages. You produce the flame externally, just outside of your mouth. It would not be difficult if said animal was capable of creating a spark with its teeth, breathing out some highly flammable gas that is naturally producible (methane, for instance), and then watching as the pyrotechnic display unfolded. It is certainly possible. The question is how improbable it is.

And, again, it really is just a discussion. I do not want fire breathing animals. :)

And think of the middle steps. Would an animal that makes tiny gouts of flame (possibly through a dry friction organ and a source of combustible gas) be evolutionarily advantageous?
Intrude: Technically if it were in an environment with plants that chiefly reproduced through brushfire events, maybe it could develop some sort of symbiotic relationship. It's also the easiest and most effective way to tenderize meat for consumption. It could make a potential self-defense mechanism (both directly and as confusion for infrared-vision creatures).

Methane would be the most likely gas. As for a spark source, it would make the most sense for it to be in the mouth to prevent internal damage, and given that's the most pronounced spot for exposed hard surfaces. A biological one-way valve could eventually develop in the throat to stop backdraft of the fire.

It's not likely, but it is possible.

I do! its a fun discussion!

Yes, a chemical spark of flint in a fire pouch and a methene pouch can produce fire. Exhale, dash the flint and exhale with lungs! That is very distinguished.'

Indeed it has. *nods, then takes a sip of his cider* Mmmmhmmm...

Yes, I really don't know where all this time keeps going!

I have been working on it and can say I will update this week, definately (really!) :o

I'll bump this since I don't often enough.

Come of Dafty! We love this NES!

Guess what I've been doing for the past three hours? I refuse to feel guilty. It takes a lot of work!

Why dont you start your own evolution NES, maybe one that doesn't take as much work? I think there's room for another one :)

Anyway, I should be done by tommorrow night.

If i had the graphical skills, I would.

I don't think a nes like this could run without the pictures!

I find the graphics are definately time consuming to make, even if they don't turn out so good :( I think the best thing for a new NES like this would be to stick to simple black-and-white outlines of the basic shapes of the species, like those evolution charts you see on wikipedia etc. But I don't want to simplify things that much with this NES since its already got so far with semi detailed colored pictures.

Speaking of which, I intend to get all the old evolution pictures back online at some point. Does anyone look at the old updates much?

I do look them over occasionally, but I more awate with baited breath for the next update!

An your pictures always look good,no AMAZING. Don't be os down on yourself!

I look at them, though if it's too much of a problem, you don't need to reupload them.

I look at them too. I read through the whole thing before I joined and I still at them every so often.
