Description: The Mountain Zeeboo quickly began to adapt to their environment, as such, the Burrowing Zeeboo was created. The burrowing Zeeboo's roots can grow far, far deeper than their predecessors to allow them to access much greater amount of minerals, the roots are also able to extend over greater distances. When two burrowing zeeboo's roots attach they can cooperate by exchanging minerals, water and starch and they can communicate using sounds as well as a silently through their roots, what they used this communication for is as yet unknown. With roots now able to tap into underground lakes and rivers, sheltered from freezing, the Burrowing Zeeboo shouldn't have much trouble finding water.
The inflaboo is very different morphologically and functionally from its ancestor, but retains many of the same tools and adaptations, only used in a different way.
The burrowing zeeboo is a static plant, well suited to its location. Its progeny colonize new areas while it sends down deeper and deeper roots.
The inflaboo turns that function on its head. It has grown thin, cabbage-like leaves at its apex which form into a sac or bulb. This bulb is structurally weak but molecular gates actively pump inert nitrogen gas from the environment into it (while selectively deriving oxygen and carbon dioxide for its photosynthesis and respiration from within the sac). This gas is lighter then the combined gases of the atmosphere (which is mixed with heavier oxygen and carbon dioxide, as well as slew of other, less common gases) and gives the Inflaboo's bulb/sac buoyancy. In addition, the stem is thinned and lengthened considerably and is barely thicker than a thin branch (a huge morphological change). The roots no longer dig deep into the ground for nutrition, instead they snake along the surface of the earth (or puddle or swamp or whatever) taking what surface moisture is available. By releasing its hold on the earth and by drastically reducing its overall weight, the inflaboo has become subject to every passing gust of wind which can cause it to drift along, dragging its stem and roots like a half-filled child’s balloon. This, no doubt, was evolved to assist the Inflaboo to colonize geographically isolated areas. In addition, it may allow the Inflaboo to derive moisture when blown into a wet area and mineral nutrition when blown into an area with rich soil. By staying on the move, it can balance its energy, water, and nutritional requirements.
So, this is my first evolution for your NES. I read so many posts (about 2/3 of the way through- on extinction #3 now) in this tread and I was really impressed and I decided to just jump in. I realize this may be late for the current update, but if its not, that would be great.
As an interesting thing to note, through my incomplete check through the most recent stats I have counted up to 115 unique genes that currently exist with only 8 genes providing energy (eating) and 11 genes providing movement.
Roughly 21 Categories of genes now:

Barius: Nailix
Evolved from: Bariot
Habbitat: Mountain/Hills
Survival Status: ?
Genes : Genes (35): Crawling x2, Plant Eating x4, Complex Stomach x2, Exoskeleton x2, Communal Behaviour x2, Water Retention x3, Lungs x2, Cold Resistance x2, Eyes x2, Walking x3, Brain Power x3, Live Young x1, Smelling x1, Vibration Sense x1, Hooves x2, Jaws x2, Parenting Instinct x2, Hibernation x1, Food Retention x1
Genes Added: Brain Power x1, Jaws x1, Food Retention x1. Description: The Barius if pretty similar to the Bariot, except it has gained a better ability to ratain food for long periods of time (not just hibernating) so not only does it get more from its food, but it can last longer times roaming around looking for food. Also this creature is some what more intelligent then it's ancestor in that it can think more clearly which can help them find food, water and safe places to nest in. Finally with its stronger jaws it can eat tougher plants and fight off preditors easier, which as everyone knows this is a big help in surviving.
