Also, meant to ask: how's the new Progress arrangement treating everyone? Also the UU changes?

I was already skipping the Cataphract pretty frequently, so nerfing it means I now just ignore them entirely. Not sure why they were brought down.

One time, i had to deal with a war with my spearmens/archer against elephants.
It's incredibly hard to handle. (epic speed)
i can see why Cataphract get a slight nerf.

I really like the new Progress tree. The old one seemed a bit random and unbalanced but now every choice feels important.

the Denmark thing used to happen very often when market's merchant specialist was moved to caravansary, as there are no reliable sources of early gold, it happened to many civs but denmark was particularly prone to this trap

the transition between severe lack of gold early on to massive gold inflation by late medieval/early renaissance is not very smooth and could use some adjustments, it's the main reason why AI is able to literally carpet their entire territory with units and still have big surpluses, you cant even explore their land with open borders because there are no space to move

Well yeah, Tradition goes the fastest through the policy tree (due to best culture) and it's good but Progress is still too strong IMHO. It's too good at everything and the policy with +3Fxcity +3S per connection is definitely too much

Yeah it's obvious, he probably has dozens of spearmen and warriors in his domain, he took Authority in hopes of conquest but AI wasn't smart enough to stop producing units when his army was obviously too much. -150 gold is -150 science and with 10 cities at classical is teh same as reducing science gain to 0, even Korea wouldn't deal with that

This sounds like an AI logic issue. When I have a big expensive army and I cannot upgrade it, I produce a modern unit and gift an old inexperienced unit to a CS. Shouldn't be difficult to script.

They were pretty crazy during the classical era, but as they are now I don't really see much use for them, +3 CS at the cost of one movement point is hardly worth it.

We really need to get around to fixing some of the more pointless unique units. The fact that a military city-state with Cataphract(for example) unique unit is worse than a military city-state with no unique unit is troubling to me.

Maybe granting a Charge free promotion?

Bug - the corruption -2 happiness event "take blame on yourself" option does nothing, making it the best pick.

The event also is very annoying, it appeared like 6+ times in this game. Is this related to unhappiness? It stopped appearing once religious division unhappiness finally went away

About Cataphract, it is pretty bad but - tbh - I never cared about it much. If it's hard to balance it compared to the horsie, how about making it an ubergood unique at the cost of having it appear later in the tech tree? Like, restore the +3 CS and/or add a promotion but have it unlock at Mathematics or Iron Working, or something

We should probably take this discussion some other where even if it is somewhat relevant to the thread.

Is the beta currently incompatible with EUI v1.28f 11mar2016? I deleted

CityBannerManager.lua
CityBannerManager.xml
CityStateStatusHelp.lua
DiploList.lua
ProductionPopup.lua
YieldIconManager.xml
YieldIconManager.lua

but the leaders/diplomacy panel on the right side is gone.

Can confirm - also isn't fixed by disabling Events.

The error is a replacement of NotificationPanel, and thankfully JFD's Comp. patches fix the issue.

Are we meant to use the CP EUI with the core CP? I'd always used the normal, but I noticed that the manual said to use the CP version.

There is no different between the 'CP EUI' and EUI – all changes to EUI are managed in the EUI compatibility files. I include EUI in the autoinstaller out of convenience.

Regarding the notification panel issue, you can delete the lua folder of the CP, though you'll lose the unique notification icons for events (the events will still work, as all crunchy data is handled in the DLL, but the icons will be the generic exclamation point icons). I'll work on notification panel support for EUI + CP for the official release.

I didn't expect it to make a difference, but reading that in the manual and finding this error got me worried a bit - thanks!

Is there anything else that will be lost by disabling the NotificationPanel? I can't think of anything, but I might as well ask.

Finally, I occasionally get issues with popups when using CP and EUI - I'll just be going about my game, and I suddenly won't get popups for Natural Wonders, meeting City States, etc. Presumably it's the same issue that causes the no city capture popup issue. Nothing ever shows up in the logs, though.

No, just that.

Re: last issue, not sure – I think that's a vanilla issue with regards to game UI memory.

Firaxis.

Plz.

Don't suppose the DLL can do anything about it, can it?

I'm experiencing some weird bugs in the 04-09 version - I don't know if these are somehow caching issues because I made the CP Hotfix switch midgame, but issues I experience are:
- City State quests not working properly - like a city state asks me to build Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, and here several eras later the quest is still there (and I have build it)
- Militaristic City States not giving me their unique unit even though I'm their ally and have researched appropriate skill
- I had one instance of Sugar that I traded away once, even though the deal is long since ended, I still don't get any Sugar among my resources (and City States ask me to connect it to my trade network).

Ehm I don't know if anyone mentioned this before, but most policies providing era-scaling yields on city-growth doesn't actually seem to scale in this version.
This include the Progress opener, the progress finisher, Universal Healthcare.

I noticed this way too late to actually start counting yields to see if the scaling is hidden, but both the yield pop-ups over the cities and the notifications seems to give me the base value, even in modern era. Could be my faulty install as well, as no one else seems to have mentioned it.

Corporations Overview Lua is NOT playing well with JFD's modpacks, ExCE being my test, but I imagine this requires him to adjust for the new version of CBP on his end.

I made the change and the screen came again but with some choices but obviously it shouldn't show as well and I still couldn't close it. Can you upload your version of the file since you seemed to have edited properly?

I just open the sql file in notepad++ and edit the file

As you say, if you're using my NotificationPanel in CID/RtP, you won't experience any issues with removing the CP NotificationPanel, and without a loss to the unique Event notification icons (my NP includes these). In the future, I'll also be including the DiploCorner, which is what (that, and the NotificationPanel) support the extra drop-down buttons.

It does, and an ExCE update is upcoming to fix the issue.
