New call for Rhye's and Fall of Civilization

@BenZL43

While I agree that more map accuracy is of course better, was there really room to implement the smaller spice islands in RFC IV? I'm not positive, but I doubt it.

If Rhye can add those in a meaningful way that dosen't look or feel too weird, then I am all for it.

Also, If Spain and Portugal were racing to find India... wouldn't they have been sailing for India? The subcontinent does have it's own fair share of spices and rare luxuries Europeans valued. And the Treaty of Tordeseillas divided the Americas, not the East Asian colonies. That was the Treaty of Zaragoza. I'm not saying the spice islands wern't valuable, I just think you may be overstating their importance.

On-Topic: Awesome to see this is back. This is the mod that will make me actually play CiV more than Civ 4... RFC of course :).

Treaty of Tordesilhas not Zaragoza :c5minus:

Yeah, I'm sure whatever free time Rhye has he's used some of it to develop the mod. If not, oh well, it's not like we're paying him lol.

I don't know if he is allowed to profit off a mod from another company's game. Seems the norm now that anything created by users for a game becomes the game maker's property.
Anyway looking forward to hearing about the latest progress!

The kickstarter fund sounds like a great idea, though I take skyclad's point that he probably can't take a profit. I wonder if there is a loophole that could compensate him in another not-for-profit way. I, too, check this thread constantly hoping for a progress update.

Well, couldn't Rhye's be compensated for his labour, rather than his product? With a KickStarter fund, you don't pay for the mod, you pay for him to do the work on the mod and then release it for free.

I like that idea very much. I prefer to give my money to Rhye for his fantastic work than to Firaxis which released - just simply - crap, and took more than a year to fix some very basic bugs which any beta tester or programmer with brain should notice in 5 sec.

:gripe::huh::pat:, ok anyways..Good to see this back on the production side. Good luck with the project Rhyne.

This probably shouldn't turn into a Firaxis bashing thread, but kijciwoko is 100% right. I remember how excess science points wouldn't roll over after research. WTH? Very basic...

Rhye, if you have any ideas for how we can help, I'm all ears.

I enjoy civ 5 anyway too... But this mod will make it even better. A minor change, but do you think he'll change the size of the Forbidden Palace? It's a little small compared to other wonders and city buildings lol...

ho, and I forgot the main point: no offer/proposal of paid job are allowed on civfanatics.

Okay, gotcha...

Maybe we can encourage Rhye with a show of support. Everyone checking this thread regularly but not posting, give a shout out and tell Rhye how much his mods mean to us!

Amazing! Looking forward to the day when I will be able to use this in CiV.

But I have some suggestions.

When your city is captured you stay with its normal unhappiness for some turns and receive an extra unhappiness. If more than three of your cities are captured you receive more extra unhappiness for "not being able to protect your people".

Sounds like it would make the game more realistic. But don't you think that if you've lost three cities you have enough problems without the added unhappiness? Also, if your enemy has lost three cities, they are most likely 'on the run' anyway and the added unhappiness might make your invasion much too easy (since negative happiness will make your opponents production slow down). If anything an invasion in reality could have the opposite effect of spurring a nation to greater production (e.g., Pearl Harbor, or the Soviet Union's rallying after the initial German invasion in WWII). Not sure happiness penalties for lost cities can work.

My apologies, I didn't know that was a rule.

However, don't you think that this rule should be amended/reconsidered? Things are a lot safer and more secure with kickstarter. It's not as if we are planning to mail him cash or anything.
