Introducing a new Exploration Age civ, Majapahit!

The last great Hindu kingdom of Indonesia arose with the surprise betrayal of Kublai Khan's navy, paving the way for the Majapahit, who conquered and controlled the spice islands at the dawn of the global era. But after three hundred years of dominance, the winds began to change. Muslim trade networks sidelined the Majapahit state, forcing them to the island of Bali, where their legacy remains.

There's Majapahit! Wonder what the First Look will be, then...

Curious about the inactive Specialists. Does that mean you get an expansion point refunded at Modern, or your Majahapt Legacy bonus yield is kind of delayed until you manage to increase the specialist cap in Modern?

I love this architecture; it’s truly beautiful. I’m glad they named it Majapahit this time instead of Indonesia.

Majapahit is definitely the strongest contender for a cultural victory so far. I really didn’t expect that.

Economic, cultural, and coastal bonuses. This civ is made for me~

Also glad they’re not called Indonesia this time around.

This might be my Exploration Age pick for game one... bonuses useful for all victory conditions and the specialist limit to make small island cities stronger will be nice to let me play around with the new mechanics.

I think it means:
  • We have the specialist cap for each settlement. The cap will be increased for the Ages.
  • If we have 10 specialists per city as the highest cap in Exploration Age for example, Majapahit can use additional specialists - let's consider we have 12 for the example city.
  • When the Modern Age come, the city will be allowed to have the lowest cap in Modern Age. If it is 10, the example city will have 10 specialists online and 2 unactive now. You have to raise your specialist cap to get back these 2.

This is correct! Once you increase the limit in the Modern Age, your inactive specialists will become active again.

I like the design. Specialists, culture, adjacency bonuses that should work on any map. LOVE the Tradition that gives Production AND Culture on ALL water tiles, that's insane!!! I'll enjoy playing this Civ. Seems good when your Age 1 Civ was Han, especially.

Strange that Majapahit are considered Economic when Specialists and Happiness are mostly an Expansionist thing? I feel like they should be tagged as Cul/Exp, so maybe the site is using the wrong wording, @FXS_Sar?

Ah, naval and specialist civ. I like it.

But they obviously control the spices. :mischief:

@Eagle Pursuit
You got your wish for a Cetbang UU.
Haha, yes. But it's a boat holding Cetbangs rather than the Cetbangs themselves.

Cetbangs were a form of light cannon that could be fired from a crouched position or mounted as a swivel gun on a ship or a gun carriage.

Incidentally, it's good to finally see the Majapahit associated with gunpowder weapons.

Seems like the excess specialists stay there but don’t give any yields/bonuses (hopefully they don’t give any maintenance either)

So if you were M… in the previous age, you want to rush the specialist limit booster s in modern

If it's Himiko, then she needs to be paired with Meiji Japan, and we won't get another civilization guide this week. That means the unrevealed leader isn't Himiko or Hawaiian, so he/she is probably unpaired with his/her original civilization, just like Amina and Machiavelli.

There's been a small vocal minority on places like Youtube and Reddit complaining about the "lack of European Civs" in the base game.
