New Xbox basically kills off used games

Yeah, just try to play, say, a flight sim game with a keyboard and mouse. Not gonna happen. There's a reason USB joysticks used to be as popular as they were.

Eh, good point. I just haven't done a flight sim since like Gunship 2000 with my Logitech Wingman that plugged into the gaming port of my SB16 sound card, so I wasn't even thinking of those types of games.

I had a Sidewinder joystick to play countless hours of X-Wing, TIE Fighter, and the other LucasArts space games

ah, the memories

You can also just plug in a USB controller for the majority of modern PC games and they'll auto-recognize and map the controls. I do it for some of my Steam games with my Xbox controller.

360 controllers have awesome PC support, they work wirelessly, and pretty much every modern game that's controller-appropriate has built-in proper mappings and support for it.

Yeah I know, that's why I said "it can't be much fun without a controller" :p

A few years back I predicted that the new console generation would attempt to tackle used games market with some sort of drm scheme [/Itoldyouso]

Still though, with all the bad news I've been hearing about the upcoming Xbox One, I can't help but to wonder if this might be some kind of marketing scheme? First let out all these bad news to scope out the reaction, and if the reaction is too negative, make a grand announcement saying said features will be scrapped

Meh, I'm just going to "old man" it out on my Desktop. If PC Gaming dies I'll just find a new hobby.

This generation of consoles is too cyberstalky and Facebooky for me.

Before this thread I thought there was harmony between PC & games console owners. I thought it was still Xbox vs PlayStation and before Nintento vs PlayStation; never have i been so wrong.

I don't get the big problem. I've got a nice shiny Xbox 360 for certain games and a PC for others. Typically, RTS + PC exclusive games and than on the Xbox graphically maxed games, everything where a controller > keyboard. It is a good system, maybe i'm just lucky I have both. Embrace the other side you don't know what you're missing out on :P

Well, if I were to get an xbox it would basically be the opposite - PC for better graphics, xbox only for console-exclusives.

Indeedily this is true. Consoles plug into televisions. Televisions, even the big ol' fancy expensive ones, have maximum resolutions that, uhm, aren't really comparable. Which is why you have to like sit on a couch across the room or whatnot. As opposed to sitting with your nose glued to the screen in a dark room wearing headphones while gripping your.... superior control devices<ahem> like a proper little PC nerd enamored with the magic and rightness of his gaming platform choice.

You can do this, but why would you want to do this? :)

Actually, consoles do have the definite edge for multiplayer where everyone is sitting in the same room with the TV. That is nice.

They work ok, but if you've gotten used to 1920 on 21 inches 1080 on 55 is jarring. It doesn't actually matter too much so long as they game doesn't have a lot of small text and numbers. If it does it can be a bit annoying.
