EDIT: Anyway, I suggest that those who think he shouldn't have been arrested offer an alternative. How should police have handled this situation?

Now you point it out... no. Doh! Had you asked the same question in the suicidal teenager shot by police, that would have been my reply.

On topic: I think they handled it right. Someone has to work out whether this guy is right in the head. And whether his intent was clear.

The cop should have tried to arrest this puppeteer who wanted to eat a child.

But they did arrest him. And he's due to do 61/2 to 10 years for possession of child pornography.

And he, like this NY cop, wrote some fantasies about cannibalism. But surely you can't be prosecuted for it, if there's no evidence of actual intent. Since that would come under a Thought Crime. I don't look forward to that being possible.

I agree. I just think it is hilarious that all these stories of people fantasizing about eating people came out just before Halloween. And this one is a puppeteer to boot...
