NFL Playoffs projection and predictions

All I want is for the Colts and Saints to lose at least one game each before the playoffs start. :)

Predictions? Yeah, I think a good case could be made for them both to show up in the Super Bowl.

I suspect both coaches secretly hope they do lose a game before the playoffs.

NFC
1. New Orleans Saints; With a top-ranked offense putting up almost forty points per game, the Saints defense is good enough to contain opposing offenses, with a particular skill at run defense. They've got a fairly moderate schedule, difficulty wise.

2. Minnesota Vikings; They have a well-balanced team and Jared Allen is on fire. I believe that Brett Favre will manage to stay healthy and energetic. The Vikings' schedule is relatively easy.

3. Philadelphia Eagles; This team is only scratching the surface of what it can achieve. Last week, they discovered that they can indeed have serious success running the ball. If Reid and company can manage to exploit that, this team is very scary. They're going to have one of the tougher schedules to work through, however.

4. Arizona Cardinals; Between them and Atlanta, it might be a toss-up. The Cardinals are playing better defense right now, and I am all about defense. Let's see if it holds. Both have moderate schedules to contend with, but I have to give the edge to Arizona.

5. Dallas Cowboys; They've been playing well lately and the defense is particularly good. The team is starting to gel and they will play better. If they can win at Philadelphia, Nov. 8th, they will win the division, but I don't think that it is going to happen.

6. Green Bay Packers; They're beating teams that they should beat and competing well with teams that they might ought to lose to. The offense is playing pretty well and the defense is playing well. They will make the play-offs.

Wild Card
Green Bay (17) at Philadelphia (34)
Dallas (24) at Arizona (20)

Divisional
Dallas (17) at New Orleans (40)
Philadelphia (23) at Minnesota (17)
>> Favre throws three interceptions.

NFC Championship
Philadelphia (41) at New Orleans (35)

AFC
1. Indianapolis Colts; They're playing excellent offense and excellent defense. The only concern that I have is their ability to run the ball. That will catch up with them, sooner or later.

2. Pittsburgh Steelers; They're much better than their record suggests.

3. New England Patriots; They have a tough schedule, but this is a good football club.

4. Denver Broncos; If not for how terrible the rest of the division is, the Broncos are playing well on both sides of the ball...and they have my man, Brian Dawkins.

5. Cincinnati Bengals; Tough call. I don't think that the Bengals are as good as some might think, but they might be good enough to make the play-offs. Tough schedule to contend with, though.

6. San Diego Chargers; They've lost some close games, but I think that they can pull off enough wins to make the play-offs. Tough schedule to contend with.
