COMMUNIST PARTY OF DANUBE NEAR ERADICATION. Vienna, Danube Reich. Stability in the Danube Reich slid in an unfavorable direction throughout 1924 because of the farreaching actions of the Christian Social Party and the Reich government. The actions of the Christian Social Party has led to widespread condemnation by parties in Italy and Germany, and the Christian Social Party’s use of the courts and the police has all but destroyed the Communist Party of Danube.
Despite the governmental ban on emigration for Jews and Slavs in the country, many have found ways to escape the bloodshed within the country and are using their political and financial connections in Italy and Germany to push for military action against the Danube Reich. With elections in Italy and Germany approaching, the support of the Judeo-Slavic Alliance may prove decisive. Especially in Germany where the scandal of German involvement in Poland without consulting the Diet is leading to a growing chorus of angry voices against the ruling party.
Every average Austrians are finding fault in the action of the government, with the usually docile Democratic Party of Danube issuing harsh statements about Danube’s mishandling of the economy and radical racial policies which threaten to “bring the country back to 1918”. The Christian Social Party’s attempt to use the same legal moves to destroy the DPD failed thanks to support for the DPD in various parts of the government.
IRA DEMANDS BRITISH WITHDRAWAL. Dublin, British Union. Ardghal Ciarán Milligan, leader of the Irish Resistance Army, declared the IRA will not end operations until all British forces have withdrawn from Ireland. Sarah Eynstone, leader of the Fundamentalist strain of Norsefire ideology, blasted the IRA in parliament, declaring that all the woes befalling the Union in Ireland is the result of a Catholic conspiracy led by the Pope.
REFUGEES FLOODING KRAKOW. Krakow, Free City of Krakow. The civil war in Poland has dislocated tens of thousands of people and forced many to seek shelter abroad. Krakow, being in the heart of the Greater Poland, is a magnet for much of this refugee movement, with significant numbers of Polish citizens fleeing to the German, Italian, and Bulgarian borders as well. The wave of refugees has placed a strain on the city’s resources, and the various political parties of Krakow have differing views as to how to respond to the crisis.
THE GERMAN MIRACLE. Berlin, Holy Germanic Empire. A low tax rate and cheap costs enticed several foreign corporations to enter the German market in 1924. The flurry of factory building in Germany is already showing signs of changing the economic and social landscape of Germany. Deutsche Reichsbahn is now tied with the German government as the largest employer in the country, and largest private employer overall. However, foreign companies entering the market have chipped away at the employment makeup, with half of the German labor force being employed by foreign corporations, the largest of which is Corona, a company based in Egypt.
However, the economic boom looks nearly over. The price to expand into Germany has tripled since the beginning of 1924, and companies are now looking overseas for opportunity, such as in China.
In a surprising twist of fate however, the company that reported the highest revenue in 1924 wasn’t a company exploiting the German market, but a British company exploiting the Canadian market. Teladi Bank has emerged as one of the world’s most powerful company, hosting the largest revenue account and second largest cash reserve in the world.
