NOTW LIII - Return to Ciretako [Game Thread]

A good villain keeps the charade going until the last moment. I kept it up until literally the last minute in MoA.

Sorry, was composing my thoughts, distracted by a very amazing person right now.

I don't think my vote really matters here, choxorn lieutenant probably breaks tie and lynches Reidquat which, I think, is okay.

But I will state reasons to think maybe it is not.

Just, really distracted from the game. BRB

What?? Riedquat is either definitely scum at this point or he's trying to lose the game for the town. What are you playing at?

As I said earlier, after Riedquat is lynched, if that doesn't end the game, then we've lost. Either ATPG murders the last person with the Massacre Weapon or Choxorn knocks one of us off instead.

What will definitely lose us the game is if Choxorn choose me to lynch as I am definitely innocent, as pretty much everyone agreed yesterday, including Riedquat and Bladescape.

However, by normal rules, if there were three scum yesterday out of six, we would already have lost, so there can only be two scum left (again assuming normal rules). As I said, if Riedquat is innocent, then he is taking the whole town down with him.

Again, what are you playing at, ATPG?

I'm not trying to lose the game for the town, i just lack arguments to defend myself, as poorly as I played this game I certainly deserve to be lynched, sadly it is coincidental with town loss, indirectly also my fault, but I'm not trying... just accepting the inevitable.

Oh really. With the moustache-twirling and talking of traps and manipulation and so on throughout Wednesday? Don't try playing the wounded townie now. That's ridiculous.

Because Choxorn is lieutenant or because it's actually ATPG who's the scum? I really want to win a game that Choxorn actually lists in his statistics, damn it!

Return to Ciretako - Day 10 - Slow Lightning

Spoiler :

Flip Hero's Log: Bussing protocol activated. The robots have been working as a team for years. They wouldn't suspect me throw my own members under the proverbial bus. And so they led themselves straight into destruction.

The remaining machines were easy to dispatch, I overpowered them and destroyed all traces of Tetron's former base.

The Ciretako was quiet once more, the horror that happened here is finally ended. Now to target Tetron's main base and end this fight once and for all.

Flip Hero, signing off.

Well done, Riedquat. What the hell were you playing at? You ignored the vote on Tuesday and then starting being a pantomime villain on Wednesday and then you voted for me! That's unbelievable.

Player: johnhughthom
Spoiler :
Role: Hunter http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_hunter.gif
Faction: Machines
Strength: 4
Ability: System Shock – Overload a character, weakening their systems by one strength for the next cycle.
Item: Hunter Cannon: Gives you the System Shock ability.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: A fast moving machine which spawns smaller versions when it fires its laser. One of the tougher Machines in the game.

The main villain cover role. I wanted a role that was powerful enough to disguise the high strength stat and yet have an ability that could very well be plausibly town (and replicable). A temporary weakener in that it weakened the strength ability of scum kills, weakened the effectiveness of roleblockers, doctors, and so on, giving some sense of plausible deniability.

Player: Legato Endless
Spoiler :
Role: Phaze http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_phaze.gif
Faction: Machines
Strength: 3
Ability: Phase Shift – You may hide from all actions one night only.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: A phaze tries to bump into enemies to destroy them, they fly around the screen and are able to go through walls and solid objects, earning them the name Phase.

This was the only character in the game that could be guaranteed not to die on any given night if he decided to use his ability. Nothing special to note about the character and flavour, legato died without using his power and didn’t really have much of an impact on the game.

Player: Winston Hughes
Spoiler :
Role: Plasma Hydra http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_plasmahydra.gif
Faction: Machines
Strength: 3
Ability: Power Overwhelming – using your laser and bomb shooting heads, you can attempt to stop a target from acting at night.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: The Boss of Control – A hydra from greek mythology mechanised for warfare. Trivia: Inspired by Gleeok from The Legend of Zelda, named after Plasma Hydra from Starfox.

The town roleblocker. One of the bosses in the game I decided to use it as a roleblocker because it is very effective at pinning you to the side of the wall. Winston played the role well, targeted decently suspicious characters, and prevented a kill on himself on N5. One of the only people to bother looking up the flavour (not that you had to mind you), to realise that the mafia team were actually machines.

Player: Double A
[
Spoiler :
B]Role:[/B] Spawner http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_spawner.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 1
Ability: You may produce an upgrade. These take three nights to produce each.
Item: Upgrade – Use to upgrade specific robots into stronger counterparts. These can range from a simple strength upgrade to a whole new power.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: Constantly spawns weak creatures to help fight, this machine can be a real nuisance.

The cover role was the same as the actual role for Double A, he was the mafia upgrader. The mafia upgrader was designed to give benefits over time to the scum team. Double A got himself into too strong a position early with bussing JHT, being invited to a town QT and being given the scum gun which led the ire of Azzaman who promptly shut down a very dangerous situation for the town to be in.

Player: Zack
Spoiler :
Role: Reaver http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_reaver.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 2
Ability: None.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: A fairly fast machine designed for ramming. Painful in tight corridors.

One of the few roles which could use both the upgrade and a gun, Zack was unfortunately killed for some reason I’m not quite sure of. He would upgrade to become a tracker.

Player: Backwards Logic
Spoiler :
Role: Power Turret http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_powerturret.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 2
Ability: Target Acquired – Using your sophisticated scanners you can detect if a target can be upgraded.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: A big turret, but doesn’t pack quite as big a punch as it looks especially since it can’t move.

Backwards was another one who put a lot of work into attempting to solve the game. He was eventually shot down by Azzaman on night 5 but he used his ability to good effect scanning townies (and spaceman unfortunately) in an attempt to get the upgrades out to help the town.

Player: Jarrema
Spoiler :
Role: Chain Snake http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_chainsnake.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 2
Ability: What do you smell? MANFLESH! – Each night you can use your slippery skills to detect if a target is organic or not.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: Only the head is vulnerable and they move at random making these a mildly annoying machine to chase. It also has the unfortunate habit of retreating when it is struck.

The organic scanner, only role in the game that could detect Azzaman. His targets were unfortunate early on though somehow he didn’t get killed by anyone. He upgraded to the Dire Viper and gained the role name of every character he scanned.

Player: Spaceman98
Spoiler :
Role: Bolt http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_bolt.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 1
Ability: The smallest bolt is sometimes the strongest – If you are lynched you may kill a target in retaliation.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: Often found in bothersome places, when shot they split into bullets. Avoid shooting, if you can.

Mafia Roleblocker cover role. I wanted something which seemed reasonable if claimed and fitted in with the flavour so I went with something the town would be adverse to lynching. They decided not to use it though so it didn’t really have an effect on the game.

Player: Bladescape
Spoiler :
Role: Dire Viper http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_direviper.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 3
Ability: Eyedentify – You may scan a character and you will receive the name of their role. This will not pierce cover roles.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: Very fast and extremely deadly, their only instinct is to kill by going straight for their victim.

The mafia rolecop cover role, basically the counterpart to jarremas organic scanner, if upgraded could scan for organic roles.

Player: Takhisis
Spoiler :
Role: Lurk http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_lurk.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 1
Ability: Anvil – You and the Battle Door are good partners, you know on a fundamental level that he is on your side.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: Mostly used to trap unsuspecting enemies into being blown into pieces by machines with actual weapons.

A vanilla mason. Takhisis died early due to being the alternate to a scum wagon I wager. Didn’t have too much impact on the game due to his early demise.

Player: Azzaman333
Spoiler :
Role: Crusher http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_crusher.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 2
Ability: None.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: A stubborn enemy, it takes a long time to change direction but once it has its target it can use incredible speed to close the distance. Enemies must always be on the move when facing a Crusher.

The Warmachine cover role. I considered giving him an active ability but with no inherent watchers or trackers I figured it would be safe to give him another vanilla role. Played well, got himself into a decent position and should really have survived to at least D7 but the town sort of imploded and decided to be led by the mafia.

Player: Verarde
Spoiler :
Role: Boltaray http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_boltaray.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 2
Ability: Upholding the Constitution – You may scan a character each night to see if they are capable of using a gun.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: A fast firing laser plane, what more do you want? Its ability to only move up and down preclude it from being as widespread as it could be as it needs to be put into place.

The Mafia Sabotager cover role, the counterpart to Backwards’s role that it could scan for a gun. ATPG used the cover to good effect.

Player: KingMorgan
Spoiler :
Role: Elite http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_elite.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 3
Ability: Expel – You may choose to reduce your strength by 1 to stop most actions from affecting a target. You cannot kill yourself using this ability.
Item: Gun.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: Boss of Old Base – A battle of attrition, no overpowered weapons or massive damage, just a grinder.

The Elite, one of towns big power roles. His gun could do the same as the Hunters, and his ability could stop anything bar the Warmachine kill the first time he used it and all other roles the next time. Used it on Jarrema once and then died. Played well.

Player: Edse
Spoiler :
Role: Battle Door http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_battledoor.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 2
Ability: Hammer – You and the Lurk are a good team, you know on a fundamental level that he is on your side.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: A door that fights back, usually stronger than what it is defending.

The other mason. Survived for a few days but never claimed surprisingly. Could’ve avoided a mislynch.

Player: Kaiser Electric
Spoiler :
Role: Mode http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_mode.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 3
Ability: Protective Shell – The first attack on you, lethal or not will not succeed.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: The sphere of protection is the real danger against a Mode, they can fire homing missiles! The body is quite fragile though.

1 shot bulletproof townie. With all the potential killing power, I figured having someone able to soak a hit would be useful. Unfortunately Kaiser Electric decided not to post and I had to Wog him.

Player: Arakhor
Spoiler :
Role: Silencer http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_silencer.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 2
Ability: Black Box Recorder – You hear the final recordings of the machines. Each night you can choose someone who has died and listen to their final moments, a 10 word sentence.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: Boss of Army Storage – An armour plated repository of machines.

The town medium. Could talk to the dead (they couldn’t send any mechanical info like I scanned x as town). Nobody really sent any useful info besides Zack.

Player: Riedquat
Spoiler :
Role: Drone http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_drone.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 1
Ability: None.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: The weakest of the weak - they even bounce away when shot, however their movement patterns are utterly unpredictable.

The drone, would’ve had a special writeup if he died against the warmachine. Could both use the gun and the upgrade, would become a watcher.

Player: Southern King
[
Spoiler :
B]Role:[/B] Mother http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_mother.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 2
Ability: You may produce an upgrade. These take two nights to produce each.
Item: Upgrade – Use to upgrade specific robots into stronger counterparts. These can range from a simple strength upgrade to a whole new power.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: Their only weak point is the middle and they spawn destructive enemies to boot. Not something you want to mess with.

This role in particular annoys me that it went inactive. Its success was potentially quite helpful to the town yet SK decided a) not to post and b) not to send in an order so he had to be wogged. Very disappointing.

Player: Choxorn
Spoiler :
Role: Warp Eidolon http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_warpeidolon.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 4
Ability: Guardian – Each night you may attempt to protect a character from harm.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: A fast flying laser shooting machine. An absolute beast unless its guns are shot down.

Town doctor, not quite as useful as he normally was (power wise) but did help prevent a kill on Winston and guarantee him not die again later. Wasn’t that active though and did miss an order.

Player: Buddhafish
Spoiler :
Role: Reaper Drone http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_drone.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 1
Ability: None.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: Boss of Light Factory – Just a regular drone – though a bit more predictable.

Couldn’t be upgraded but could use the gun. This role was a red herring that if the mafia scanned it would think hey, maybe this guy has some cool abilities or a gun. But none of that came out and Buddha died without much impact.

Player: Autolycus
Spoiler :
Role: Turret http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_turret.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 1
Ability: None
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: A stationary turret with low firepower. More to keep the enemy on their toes than to actually kill something.

Could be upgraded to a power turret to scan for upgrades. Died early.

Player: Kennigit
Spoiler :
Role: Soldier http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_soldier.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 2 (3)
Ability: Might is Right – Scan a character to see what their strength level is.
Item: Gun – Increases your strength by 1.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: A semi intelligent machine that provides a bit of unpredictability from the standard machine.

Surprised he was lynched but he sent in orders and was generally active up until his death. He couldn’t scan through Azzaman, but he could definitely find high strength targets (choxorn, Winston, sprig, flip hero, etc). Didn’t scan anyone useful though.

Player: Sprig
Spoiler :
Role: Annihilator http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_annihilator.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 4
Ability: Giga Shot – You may choose to kill a player in the game once. If you kill a townie you will shut down at the end of the next phase.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: The big one. Designed after the Komato Annihilator from centuries ago this machine packs a serious punch and is often the clincher in any battle, almost nothing can withstand it.

Was on the wrong wagon for his ability to be of much use, shot down before his prime. Did lynch a mafia though so good on him.

Player: BSmith1068
Spoiler :
Role: Blomb http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_blomb.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 1
Ability: None
Item: Upgrade – You don’t know what it does.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: Attached to the ceiling, they drop waves of bombs on enemies underneath. Can be deadly if not careful.

Completely vanilla besides the upgrade. Bsmith did well with a weak role.

Player: Coyosis
Spoiler :
Role: Spew http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_spew.gif
Faction: Machine
Strength: 1
Ability: None.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Machines – Defeat all threats to the machine base on Ciretako.
Extra Information: Only deadly in great numbers, but thankfully easy to produce.

Played well. Could be upgraded and use the gun, would become a hunter.

Player: Azzaman333
Spoiler :
Role: Living Warmachine http://www.remar.se/daniel/siteimg/coreguide_warmachine.gif
Faction: PFK
Strength: 6
Ability: Massacre – Each night you may target a character and attempt to kill them. This cannot be roleblocked and it cannot be protected against.
Item: Massacre Gun – Gives the Massacre ability.
Victory Condition: Undead Nightmare – When your strength is equal to or greater than the remaining players, you win. Including if there is any mafia.
Extra Information: A Komato Annihilator that went rogue on the Ciretako. It killed so many things that its kill counter reset (it only had a limit of 999). This drove it mad and it killed everything on the ship including its own allies in order to raise the kill counter. For countless years the undead nightmare has laid in wait in the engines of the Ciretako, unable to do anything but wait. All it wishes to do is die but the urge to kill is overwhelming.

The Serial Killer of the game, this was my favourite role. His kill couldn’t be stopped except for legato escaping. Was generally active and played quite well in my opinion.

Player: Bladescape
Spoiler :
Role: Dire Viper
Faction: Flip Hero
Strength: 3
Ability: NSA - You may scan one player at night to reveal their name and ability. No items will be revealed.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Flip Hero – Have equal or more strength to the town and have any and all PFK killed.

Player: Spaceman98
Spoiler :
Role: Bolt
Faction: Flip Hero
Strength: 1
Ability: Blocking the path - You can choose a target each night to attempt to roleblock them.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Flip Hero – Have equal or more strength to the town and have any and all PFK killed.

Player: Double A
Spoiler :
Role: Spawner
Faction: Flip Hero
Strength: 1
Ability: You may produce an upgrade. These take three nights to produce each.
Item: Upgrade – Use to upgrade specific robots into stronger counterparts. These can range from a simple strength upgrade to a whole new power.
Victory Condition: Flip Hero – Have equal or more strength to the town and have any and all PFK killed.

Player: johnhughthom
Spoiler :
Role: Flip Hero
Faction: Flip Hero
Strength: 4
Ability: Burst Fire - Your attempt to kill a target cannot be protected against. This only applies to a solo kill. If someone another member of your team targets the same person this ability will not be applied.
Item: Laser Gun.
Victory Condition: Flip Hero – Have equal or more strength to the town and have any and all PFK killed.

Player: Verarde
Spoiler :
Role: Boltaray
Faction: Flip Hero
Strength: 2
Ability: I know you planned it! (Sabotage) - Every night you may target a player and if they have been upgraded it is destroyed.
Item: None.
Victory Condition: Flip Hero – Have equal or more strength to the town and have any and all PFK killed.

Role Pms and some minor commentary.

I'd like to do a full commentary in the next day or two.

Verarde was also on our team before being replaced.

No third parties?

And yes, I was a Ukrainian Pleasure Machine XD. And Pizza, I would have gotten away with it too if either you hadn't claimed the gun scan on me, or if I had gone after you more agressively (focusing on Reidquat's decision to vote you the weapon unprompted, clearly a sign you two were teammates all along). Though your plan worked to, I guess :p

The funny thing is, BSmith was the townie who came closest to knowing the truth about what's going on, even though he didn't vote for either of the scum lynches

Well played my teammates!

I believe the my original design had the Warmachine as a compulsive vigilante third party. (Just to screw with you all).

I decided against it in the end.

I hope you guys enjoyed the game, it was nice to host a reasonably successful large game. Thanks all for playing.

It wasn't me and I was convinced it was you as you were convinced it was me what did you hope me to do? Die boringly? I went for the lulz!

Didn't you read my post about ATPG? I wasn't convinced it was you at all.

ATPG switching his vote to me late on was an blatant scum-tell, but I couldn't shift my vote without being lynched. What sort of townie 'confesses' to be a villain? That's stupid.

Well played pizza.
Not a fan of your last minute switch after you avoided temptation the previous day but it's nice to actually see you in action as scum :)
