NOTW LIII - Return to Ciretako [Game Thread]

I have to say, I figured the way you voted in the thread had to be clearing. Why the hell would you go so hard against your own teammates, one in a LyLo situation, and do so much to protect the town doctor?

Like I said, I didn't think even you would act the way you did if you were scum, and I've seen you trying some absolutely balls-to-the-wall crazy things regardless of your alignment. It just didn't make sense.

In the lynch situation with you and bladescape, I couldn't vote for you without you thinking I am scum or someone else would.

Yes it wins if I lynch you but the lynch didn't happen on you until I was afk.

And I was so village looking by then that it didn't matter who got lynched, in fact the past several lynches since spaceman, none of them mattered.

I had a checkmate several rounds ago, and I went for it because I knew it would work. It's all in the scum topic.

It was way more winning for scum if I bussed them than it would have been trying to carry scummy people to the end of the game. Instead I carried the most clear villagers to the end of the game, because that is what you don't expect me to do.

Obviously I can't shoot you with the massacre weapon choxorn, but I can deny it from being in the hands of village.

Get rid of the SK, then get rid of all night threats, and keep the weapons out of the hands of villagers. Then bus all teammates because pizza wins at f3/f4.

I think even if I murdered that one night it wouldn't have made a difference, but no murder while I have the massacre weapon sells it more.

Well hosted Visorslash. I feel the outcome would have been anticlimactic if no replacements happened. Azzaman would have been gotten before too long, I believe, and spaceman was outed before I could tell him not to be. Leaving only bladescape to survive against this town and their powers.

Unless he gets a gun or a massacre weapon he always loses, I think, unless someone replaces in. Not that I think badly of his skills, he's amazing, but town solves it mechanically eventually if he's the only scum with survivability. And town would never vote a gun or a massacre weapon to a scumbag anyway, that would just be silly.

I for one remain quite confident that the town would have eaten my roleblocker BS up. Of course, I'm not going to pull "town-sided roleblocker" a third time (watch as I actually am a town-sided roleblocker next game, and no one believes me), so I guess this will forever be lost to the pits of history.

At least until I come up with another good fakeclaim ;)

Thanks for the host Visor, good game, good game.

It has been equally entertaining and frustrating to watch, much credit goes to ATPG, but come on town!

If only Riedquat had even tried to defend himself, maybe I'd have voted for ATPG. I was sure it was either him or Riedquat. Still, Choxorn was lieutenant, so it probably wouldn't have mattered.

If Flip kicked the bucket as a WoG, then it would've been hard. I actually would've tried to keep Azza around longer in that situation. I feel it would've been possible for me, but it would definitely have been an 'against the odds' game. Certainly not one I'd give myself the chance to win more than half the time.

Its Riedquat, that is his town tell unfortunately.

Guys just so you know, I could play the game in a very straightforward way if all I cared about was winning. I deliberately did things like bus two wolves way before Lylo, intentionally not murder, and post a lolcat duel because I care about entertaining you.

It's about having fun as friends. Never forget that, and please don't call each other stupid.

Wouldn't you rather lose to a brilliant pizza gambit than to like, inactivity or something?

Sure you want to win but, we had a great game didn't we, together?

When we interacted and shared thoughts? That's what I care about.

I am getting sentimental in my old age, but I miss so many people who don't play anymore.

I'm going to miss you guys, too, when the day comes. But it is not this day.

To be fair, I wasn't trying to call Riedquat stupid, but I do see your point. Interaction is key in these games.

I can’t help but feel that things are being manipulated here, and not necessarily for good.
I need to learn to really push harder on my intuition and gut feelings. Some of my reasoning was obviously wrong here, but I was very uncomfortable with the way things were being pushed.

That said the double bussing was brilliant and pulled off flawlessly. I think I supported Spaceman and Bladescape more because of the uneasy feeling I had about Pizza than about the base facts. Turns out that was not an incorrect assumption, just that both options were equally bad. :D

After Blade came up Flip I was ready to completely capitulate to the Pizza/Chox line and had I survived would have probably just blindly followed them, even though it would have still felt dirty to me. I figured that Pizza would know that it would be asinine for me to be that vocal in defending two of my scum buddies to the end, and that would be a key indicator of my innocence and he would use the weapon on Reidquat. But then he killed me and I knew he was scum, especially when he said that day that he has suspected Reid as the other scum for the past 5 days. That should have been the clue that something was wrong. Unfortunately I was dead and couldn’t say anything. And then there was that nice lie from Pizza that he PM’d me and one other dead person with his hunches. No one called him on that unconfirmable claim either.

My only regret this game was that I was vanilla and didn’t really get to do much. RL has been (and continues to be) quite busy, so I didn’t have as much time to network – and the network I did have was compromised and eliminated early.

I started to suspect ATPG at the end, but Riedquat not defending himself sealed his fate.

These kind of attitudes sealed my fate (in my own mind):

I can lose to you. NOT to Reidquat who voted the lieutenant to a suspect, and voted the massacre weapon to someone against my explicit instructions. It was an attempt to curry my favor and it worked.

I mean, it was a nice trap attempt, Riedquat, but there's literally no way it could be anyone but you at this point. Like Pizza said, if he or Arakhor was the last scum, they would have voted to lynch me yesterday. About the only other possibility than you is that I'm scum and bladescape, spaceman and I had a ridiculously complicated bussing plan over the past few days, which would make me being scum even more ludicrous than it already was.

After your post I couldn't see a reason to clarify I was joking... as literally there wasn't any way it could be someone else than me.

Except my post at the start of the day explaining why it could easily have been ATPG, you mean? Never mind. though. It just means that I'll have to beat Choxorn into giving me winners' credits some other time. :)

Yes with that exception but you were voting for me, not for him and I knew less than you and didn't suspected atpg at all... Sorry to messing with your statistics Arakhor, I promise not doing it again... soon! ;)

You know, Pizza. We still haven't had that town/town game you promised me ages back. =P

Well done scum for a deserved win, thanks to Visor for a well designed and hosted game, and commiserations to azzaman, whose play prior to the role thing was very impressive indeed.

I care about entertaining you.

Mafia is entertaining when games are competitive, when players feel like they're doing more than just tagging along on someone else's ride. If you've got one or two players (in this case, first me and then you) dominating proceedings, it just gets dull for everyone else imo.
