NotW LVII - Tempus Fugit (game thread)

I hunt for scum, Kenning-san, but I am afraid I cannot specify how right now. Sumimasen.

takhisis, like seriously, I beg you to take this game even halfway seriously

re: old point
Spoiler :

this game is going to be chalk full of "townies lying to other townies for no reason at all." Because if this thief does not make themself accountable, eventually like night 4 they are going to get discovered, will be lynched in some hubbub around day 5, and everyone will have to ask "where's poochy" "why weren't you just honest way back on day 2"

it's frustrating

I need you to take a break from the kenning-san statements to contribute even the slightest of important contributions

Oh yes I did target spaceman, Kennigit-san. Apparently he's town-town, but I didn't get anything more concrete than that.

Which leads me to believe that some people who die might not be what they appear at first sight. Maybe scum can pose as town, even after their decease.

Please delete the other part of your post before a moderator sees it.

hrmmmmm

so, a mega-gigantic FOS to everyone who seemed oppose to talking about roles or mechanics (cass, atpg, atheotes about monsters)

mainly cass because atpg's frustration was entirely valid, the setup explicitly gives the varethite victory condition and every member of the Order is only instructed to eliminate the Varethites

I also assume you are strictly lying takhisis because I am a grave robber and target dead players, at least when my ability isn't locked up in a varethite time capsule

actually, super duper technically I am only allowed to target dead players who are revealed, so there is reason to believe either a reviver exists or what you say may be true (however, I find it more likely that the mafia can do something to the dead, seeing as they are, well, following an undead lich). Maybe you are the town mechanism against the scum revealing themselves as town (and me too), but boy, that'd be rough on the town if only 2 town in the game knew it was possible to have a false reveal [and for me it is a biiiggg stretch]

also I don't think anyone mentioned it yet but maybe sprig and dicetosser were lovers, i.e. masons that die when one dies. It is possible thematically they were the same mage, from two different time streams but existing in the same plane. Maybe it was a mono-directional lover pairing, i.e. if the "young mage" died the "old mage" had to automatically die.

i need to reread thread, might fall asleep. Fell asleep last day phase too and then the whole day-ended-early happened

@ takhisis

could you perform another action n2 in addition to the delayed one? or did it also function as a roleblock in that sense?

tbh the ability you're claiming seems utterly pointless

The oracular nature of my scryings is… odd, Kennigit-san. There is a hint that someone might be revived. Whether by town or by Varethites or by others, I cannot say, sumimasen. I might know more after the next scrying, Kennigit-san.

Zack-san, the ability's reads are a bit confusing. I'm having trouble deciphering what the messages I get regarding the dead are. Hopefully I can reread the thread now that my other game is over and figure out what they are supposed to mean. Sumimasen, but one of my targets was incinerated, desu, and there was no answer available.

Also, are we all agreed that Murska-san should accuse Jarrema-san in his stead and let the Gods judge him already?

If Murska dies and points me, and I survive, I will be confirmed innocent?

good, lets lynch him.

curiosity questions:

Who else has had their ability stolen?

And why hasn't mine or Cuth's ability been stolen?

Especially since we have established the ability thief is clearly scum. Some paranoid townie can ask, "WELL WHERE IS THIS MAGICAL THIEF KENNIGIT??"

And I'll happily respond, "in a polygamous relationship with Vareth"

I forgot a past-timeline Kennigit pre-emptively answered. The thief has been busy.

Vareth is the master and the Varethites are his slaves. But who is master and who is the slave in the bedroom? I don't know. There may be role reversal.

Here are all the specific important pressing questions of the game, in BOLD UNDERLINE and numbered (numbered in [brackets] just for tracking, no meaning attached to the numbers, running through player list in OP

Raw numbers are post numbers. Red flags in red

Alive:

Kennigit - grave robber

Personal Ability discussion: Town
Post 434 very open about being thieved; very recently revealed grave robber role targeting dead players (has not specified full aspects of role)

Notes: Town
214 is the towniest post in the history of town posts; many townie posts, and staunch defender of The Order. Personally 283 is A+ town humor too, probably overlooked

Alignment: Town

Zack - ????

Personal Ability discussion: Null.

Notes

actually humor had been hilarious day 1 and 2, so I give a lot of props but no lean on that; 419, 421 is too pre-emptively defensive, very common zack scum play, again defensive in 458 chain of posts; does double down on over-reactive in 535 (cass noticed it too); winston has made comment to this being in Zack scum meta too

Alignment: Mixed

Jarrema - claim roleblock; verified by Mat93

Personal Ability Discussions: Mixed

757; targetted kennigit n2 some unknown reason; 855 claim he is doubled; 866 claim roleblock but says he blocked 2 somehow?; 873 claim no action night 1

Notes: Null

[1] How did he block 2 people last night? Why choose the targets he did? Why no night 1 (people do miss orders though)

Alignment: Null; personal read of mine is lean town based on actions

Golden1Knight -- ?????

Personal Ability Discussion: Null.

Notes:

huge red flag 787 discouraging roleclaims

Alignment: Null; lean scum

KingMorgan -- ????

Personal Ability Discussion: none

Notes: none

Alignment: Null.

pouter pigeon (lohr) -- ????; something probably corruption related

Personal Ability Discussion: town

vaguely hinted at corruption like stuff 548

Notes: lohr seemed pretty darn townie to me very early on, with a lot of early game play that lohr *probably* would not exhibit as a scum.

Alignment: town

winston hughes (duff) ---- ?????

Personal Ability Discussion: NONE. Important as he was target of atpg n1.

Notes: 881 (winston) big flag for me; many times scum question mechanics of townie roles to discredit. "there can't be both a jailkeep and roleblock!!!1!!"

Alignment: SCUM HARD LEARN

Takhisis --- verifies dead people are alignment they are???????

Personal Ability Discussion: frustrating

333 mentions delay, actually funny; incredibly vague 905 roleclaim after herding cats

Notes: I never read 370, a very funny post; bizarre he is posting that snerk's joining cult post should be serious, 810; bizarre throughout

[2] What does he do?

Alignment: Impossible to tell. Lean scum

Choxorn --- ??????; single target ability that results in the person knowing they have been targeted; mat93 confirmed

Personal Ability Discussion: town

426 redirect to mat93.

Notes:

important that mat holds no suspicions; could be an explicit mat/choxorn conspiracy though. With no likely seer, a scum role could easily be a targeted lightning rod (pull townie action away from the killer and onto himself), and the scum could lie about such things.

but, mat knows choxorn targeted him and seems OK with the action.

Need to verify jarrema action last night.

Alignment: lean town based on openness on talking on ability

Al Sipsclar -- corruption counter

Personal Ability Discussion: 858 claim

Notes: none really

Alignment: lean town being open about ability

Mat93 - active ability force-target to self

Personal Ability Discussion: town

520 confirm choxorn redirect; 742 explicit; 875 verify jarrema blocked him

Notes: town

flags lassie for scummy posts early (good critical thinking); thinking logically 864 ask for atheotes to clear. Has thought mechanically and reading, seems like good town effort.

Alignment: Town

Lassie - ?????

Personal Ability Discussion: Null

Notes:

436 huge flag; cass notices it too, zack has commented on his change of behaviour, many others have -- uses verbiage of being suspiscious of everyone despite previous games of asserting incredibly confidence in "lock town" plays

Alignment: Town. I can probably verify better. But I have to believe Newyn's action, ya know, would have done sometime to a Varethite. Every action and post has been scummy, but that Newyn action though.....

Cuthillius -- vortex commuter

Personal Ability Discussion:

338 results come out, 511 "jailkeepish" but more explicit on notify of NK attempt. Vortex attempt 2 did not work 721; unknown target

[3] Who was his target when doubled, why did it fail

[4] Why does it tell him explicitly a night kill attempt occurred on his commuted target?

Notes: Scum can of course have roleblock or this commuter role but......he has been open, forthright, and consistent in his ability and has brought to attention when it has failed

Alignment: Town. I doubt he is in a huge conspiracy.

Askthepizzaguy -- x2 active ability booster

Personal Ability Discussion:

actually open about results 324, explicit 352, I never read 354 before telling Duff to not claim or verify (I don’t get why not verify night actions); 871 didn't double anyone in day 3 (day ended early), has made many other posts to corroborate his story

Notes:

[5] been very open all game, but what happened day 3? Question [1], on how jarrema got 2 abilities, seems weird. Was ATPG actually stolen ability???

Alignment: Town

Cass -- ???

Personal Ability Discussion:

Notes:

I hate 185 and 186. so many soft-questions and potential for ignoring teammates (eg duff--duff acted really weird in the thread but cass just casually says is a "null")

huge flag 499 questioning lassie on kennigit read, continuing huge red flag on 507 "want to see what happens post his stolen-power claim". Scum have total control over their ability usage---night 1 jarrema could have killed for instance, and ability thief could have done thieving. Subsequent nights they could have had the thief try night kill and jarrema to do blocks

red flag throughout: question usefulness of roleclaiming and knowing mechanics of the game

[7] What is your ability, and did you know you got delayed night 2 by atheotes??? Why not mention it if you did?

Why did he question Kennigit?

Alignment: Strong scum lean

atheotes -- night action delayer

Personal Ability Discussion: Town

859 claims can clear and can do immediately; clears in 894 and roleclaims, and paints his targets (takhisis's behavior in thread confirms n1 result)

Notes:

480 huge flag questioning ability to figure out game mechanics, but recent actions have been very good

Alignment: Town. Ability could be scum, but he opened up on his ability usage.

Murska -- gladiator like role to see if he can get a corrupted killed instead of him

Personal Ability Discussion: ????? Lean town

890 claims

Notes:
posted 842 before public knowledge that he was vortexed, but did not mention was vortexed (atpg knew even with day ability); cuthillius posts 851 he commuted murska;

[8] need to know why ATPG can corroborate being vortex but murska has not yet

Alignment: Lean town because we can test

Dead players (ALL TOWN***:

**barring conspiracy, which has slim chance to exist but could

spaceman -- unknown

Personal ability discussion: null

Notes: null. died day 1

bsmith -- unknown; dead to SHADE kill

Personal ability discussion: null

Notes:

died n1. relatively townie early on, can't read much.

autolycus -- unknown

Personal ability discussion: unknown; maybe a joke of his was a soft claim, like if he could ressurect (jesus joke)

Notes:

horrible lynch

sprig -- lover-ish mason. SHADE killed

Personal ability discussion: Town

446 soft claim; various throughout-- 632 very explicit

Notes:

dicetosser -- lover-ish mason. SHADE killed. targetted by Mat but probably had no active ability

Personal ability discussion: null

Notes:

tried to talk about mechanics of pizza's role in 612;was wrong because pizza had not given any info other than did something to help duff (impossible to know it was a x2 ability role) but meh

newyn -- some sacrifice thing to accuse someone else

Personal ability discussion: town

calling out atpg in 314, 316, ready to use his ability; 579 explicit; 819 used

Notes:

lassie seems cleared by Newyn

snerk -- tiebreaker

Personal ability discussion:

813; I never read it until now, was asleep when end of day 3 occurred and just say day ended

Notes:

was scummy but when the pressure came on, he revealed role. Day ended soon after

Conclusion:

We must figure out all actions last night. Jarrema blocked twice (claim), murska was commuted but somehow a previous commute night 2 failed

EVERY SINGLE PLAYER THAT HAS BEEN OPEN AND FORTHRIGHT ABOUT THEIR ABILITY, OR HAVING BEEN IMPACTED BY AN ABILITY*, HAS BEEN SHOWN TO BE TOWN

**I suspect people that have been impacted by an ability will not be as townie. I.e., if you get roleblocked, it's kind of hard to really deny that if you know that person is a townie.......

It allows for a conspiracy with mat93, which mat93 acknowledges himself that he is traceable but not automatically town by his role. I believe him as town though.

Scum abilities known:

thief
kill
end day early

Takhisis seems to imply there would be a reviver, or the scum are doing something with the dead. Either that role is already dead {spaceman, bsmith, autolycus} or is among {zack, golden1knight, kingmorgan, pouter pigeon, winston huges, lassie, cass}, or does not exist at all

For takhisis's claim to be true, we must add to scum abilities (or list of town abilities) either the reviver, or some reveal-as-innocent-ability. I refuse to believe EVERY scum reveals as town, and that only 1 townie in the game (presumably takhisis) could possess that knowledge.

Perhaps Vareth does reveal as townie in a godfather like role and Vareth might be dead.

I firmly believe we can figure out the 3 or so scum explicitly by the abilities performed and by being honest and open in our communication. Some of the scum should be slippery

Afternoon Tally

Murska (5): choxorn, atheotes, KingMorgan, Mat93, Jarrema
atheotes (3): Zack, ATPG, Golden1Knight
Jarrema (2): Murska, Winston Hughes
KingMorgan (2): Lassie, Al Sipsclar
Winston Hughes (1): Cass_
Kennigit (1): Takhisis
Takhisis (1): Kennigit

Not Voting: Cuthillius
Not Posting: Pouter Pigeon

One hour until sudden death; ten hours until nightfall.

I can answer for nigth 3, my choice of target: I chosen Choxorn only. Somewhat/someone duplicated my action to Mat.

As for night 2, I just missed Kennigit's claim of ability being stolen

I didn't read all that, but I'm convinced that Kennigit is town and have been since he claimed the role theft victimhood. He has more WIM than I do presently, and I'm willing to help him lynch anyone I don't have marked down as a villager.

I would rather lynch Jarrema for the reason that I assume he actually is a roleblocker, just a scum one, and if his roleblock affects my ability then that would suck. But I'm ok with getting lynched and targeting either him or one of the three other major scum leans for me.

I'd like opinions on whether I should reveal who I'm targeting beforehand to ensure you get some information if I die after having chosen poorly, or whether I should attempt to avoid scum protection by keeping my exact target hidden and revealing it if I don't die.
