NOTW XXIV - The Age Of Despair (Bannor Thread)

The swordsman bows to have a closer look at the scrolls before nodding. "I think I understand how you feel... It must feel almost as if losing a son in the fires. Do not worry, your children will be avenged aswell."

The swordsman stops for a moment before looking around at the others again. "As soon as we get back on track, that is... Are there any healers in the camp? I know Renata needs attention, and my wounds could need caring aswell, although anyone who needs the help more should of course be taken care of first. These burns aren't lethal, after all."

Hangnails are. Very lethal.

Don't worry guys, everything will turn out all right!

The Rationeer's sunny optimism is unfortunately shared by about nobody around her. She bustles about, clanging pots and cans mostly for the effect of clanging pots and cans, because really there's not that much food left. But she figures, may as well remind everybody of home and pretend that everything's all right, you know?

Stay positive!

The adept smiles. "It is good to see that many of you still have hope for a better future. Even the tiniest spark of hope can brighten an entire day for the regiment. Alas, I will need to leave you for a while, as I still wish to attend to other matters today."

"I will be in my tent for the day. I will meditate on finding a solution to the trouble we are in, and also briefly offer prayer to the gods responsible for keeping us alive through these ordeals."

With these words, the adept retired from the middle of the camp to her tent. She would not be seen again during a large part of the day, as she was in deep meditation and prayer to the gods.

(OOC: I will be away for the next 48 hours or so. Have fun all.)

Now that the roster has been read out, the Servant has given up his unconvincing tough-guy act and gone back to what he knows best - cleaning.

Having tied some leaves to his trusty stick, forming a makeshift broom, he begins to sweep a patch of loose dirt, causing a large cloud of dust to form around him.

The regiment gradually pulled itself together, the various elements making contact with each other and identifying themselves. Despite their obvious plight, it was midday before the regiment composed itself enough to create a semblance of order.
The Swordsman, Diamondeye, was the one who seemed to have suffered the less, or at least, hid his pain the most. He walked among the other survivors, encouraging them all, dragging them from their defeat and towards the future.
Through the Agonizing pain of her injury, Renata reminded them that staying still might not be the best idea, as the demonic forces were bound to get bored of the city and start to ravage the countryside…

The regiment agreed. They had to move… Quickly.

Voting for escape target is open.

(OOC: Like me. What the hey, I'll kick it off. Thomas, is bold correct?)

Clan lands. Lots of booze and women there. And they can fix a hangnail.

"Our forces are spread thin, we stand no chance against the many demons as it is. We can be slaughtered here or return to the Bannor Homeland where we will rally and send these foul creatures back to the Abyss!"

Hmmm it may be of no conquence since I do not hold enough authority to say where we should go, but I would like it to be recorded that I agree with Nictel. We should return to our homeland and fight these demons on our own turf. Not only will be fighting to slaughter our hated enemy, but also to protect our homeland! I know I would fight better knowing that if I fell, the lands I love most would be that much easier to take...

"A warrior always fights the fiercest when protecting his homeland. I say we head home to the caretakers and armourers and recruiters, and once we're in shape, we get back to our business with the Sheaim."

Nikki is finally coming out of her state of shock.

Oh no, my poor brave men, look what they've done to you! All unkempt and dirty and... *gasp* you're bleeding!

She sees the long burnt slash across the left arm of the swordsman.

Oh come here you, let me clean that up for you, you could get an infection walking around like that!

As she gets to work quickly cleaning the wound as best as she can, the pretty young woman keeps chit-chatting as if nothing in the world was amiss.

I know you big brave warriors want to run right back to Bannor, and I don't mean to belittle your fighting powers, but I think you should stop to think for a bit first. That's surely the first place the demons would expect you to run, and that's where they'll send the pursuers. And you lot, decimated and wounded, won't make much of a difference with your few swords when the demons march on Bannor. And surely the fabled might of Bannor would hold them back anyway? But to save my homeland, and Kwythellar, Bannor will need allies to stop this threat to the world. I think you have a golden opportunity to become the greatest heroes, by bringing unexpected aid in the time of need. Surely saving the world would be more important than dying on your home turf? The Clan may not be the nicest of people, but surely they too will see the threat that the demons pose?

"Look, Nikki, lass, while you might be right that we need the Clan's help, we're not going to get it stepping up like this, barely fifteen in number and worn from battle. We'd need to emanate authority to even get past the clan border, moreso in order for their Chief to take us seriously. We'd need to return to Torroleriel to get back in shape. Also, bringing along a diplomat from the homeland would probably be a good idea if we want to talk an entire nation into war with the spawns of hell. I know you can be very convincing, lass, but... I think it's best we let the diplomats handle our relations with the clan."

Nikki puts on a distinct pout. You don't like her when she's pouting.

You think we can afford to wait?! Trek all the way back to Bannor, find a diplomat, drag him all the way down to the clan border, wait for them to let him in, politely convince them that the demons are demons? Easy for you to say, it's not your homeland being burnt by the second! I thought you Bannor were supposed to protect people in need!?!
