NOTW XXIV - The Age Of Despair (Bannor Thread)

The Servant, who has been carefully polishing a single blade of grass for some time now, gives the Camp Follower a confused look.

Forgive my ignorance, young lady, but what is this Clan you speak of? And what makes you think they'll listen to us?

"My child, by Junil if we could, we would go to seek out the Clan but you have said it so yourself; we are decimated and wounded. Do you really think the Chief wants us to come? Some of us need at least a day of healing. We will get food and supplies in Bannor, I do not expect the same from the Clan."

And what food and supplies will the people of Kwythellar get while you think for your own safety first? Would the chief want us to come? I don't know! All I know is that you're thinking only about yourself when there are people out there, my people, who suffer! All I know is that they deserve a chance, however slim, that someone would come to their aid!

{ OOC: I'm not set on The Clan by any means, it's just that it's been the only alternative to Bannor presented so far. Could I please request of the GM to list the alternatives available? }

Tsk tsk tsk.

Let me be honest with you, I don't particularly care where we go, as long as there's food I can serve up. However, I'd like to know, you know, all the places we can go.

She gives a nervous little laugh.

You know, I never did too well in school, and geography wasn't my strong point. To be honest, between the battle and my tenuous grasp on the lands in the first place, I'm completely mixed up. So if someone would be kind enough to just let us know where we could go, I'm sure we could decide from there.

"Lass, We are thinking of your people. Don't tell me I am not caring for your people! I risked my life protecting that town, and I'll risk it again to reclaim it!

All I'm saying is I'm not throwing my life away by trekking deep into Clan lands. They are barbarians, and greenskin savages roam their lands. A group like us probably wouldn't make it to the Chief alive, even."

The swordsman sends Nikki a hurt gaze. "Don't pout, lass, and don't tell me I'm not doing what I can to protect your people. I've spent all my adult life protecting people - If we were not in this grave situation, and had you not been a lady, I might have taken it as an insult."

No, no, not barbarians. I will pout too that you say that. Do you see me pout? pouts

(OOC: Seriously, clan lands must be an option for a reason even if I'm clueless what it is. Maybe Bannor territory is too obvious to be the best answer?)

The adept returns from her tent, evidently rested well. The meditation has done her well. She then does her say on the matter of the trek to safety.

"I understand you, gentle Bannor, that in times of peril like these you wish for nothing more than to do your duty defending your homeland, and see your loved ones again in such desperate times.

Yet I fear that Agares' agents might be on to us if we go that way. Evil is not particularly imaginative, as are their methods - they expect the Bannor to return home, and will perhaps even ambush us along the way!

Instead, I think we should move on the seas. Demons have trouble bending the seas to their will as with the lands. Among the islands of the Lanun will we find a safe haven to restore our strength."

To the Bannor homeland!

For now, unless someone comes up with a viable alternative (glances at the "Companion"), I'd suggest we return home to see how we may best be utilised. The demon threat is grave, and it seems the gods have a better plan for us, so let us find out by going home.

The adept briefly coughs in the direction of the Prior, so as to draw his attention.

"Forgive me to interrupt you like this, good sir Prior, but I did just bring up an alternative to returning to the Bannor lands. I proposed we should head to the seas as soon as possible, because the demons do not seem to sway power over the seas like they do over land. Among the Lanun we will be safe for the time being."

OOC: Ooops. Missed that one

My dear adept, while your idea does have its merits, it still doesn't address the long-term questions of "what next?" At least by returning home, we may know more about the situation and if necessary, go to the Lanun for help.

Going to the Lanun now will still leave us in a transient state and when we reach there, what do you think the Lanun would do to us? Welcome us? I know for a fact that Hannah isn't particularly welcoming.

The Crusader impatiently paces back and forth, muttering incoherently to himself. He seems a bit flustered at the turn of events.

"Oi, so ze enemiez have reveled themselvez, and now ve vant to run avay? Flipenzie saurkrauten, dis ees no vay to fight a var! Run to ze Lanun islands? Run to ze Clan Lans? I theenk not. Ve should fight them here now, but seence zat ees not an option, to ze Bannor Homeland ve should go. Ve shall raze an army an take ze fight to dem! Avenge our brothers for ze atrocities commeeted here! Yah! Zat ees vat ve should do!

OOC: A Bannor with a French accent?

OOC: Sounded decidedly German to me... :p

Well, I think it's best we head home to the Bannor homelands for now.
