SPECIAL: WORLD WAR II
Our world has been plunged into chaos. First, the nations of the Lowlands, Brazil, Germany, and Sweden entered an alliance called the Axis. The rulers met in Rio De Janeiro, where they signed the treaty of alliance. Then, when only the three other rulers remained, a Russian broke through security and shot Queen Wilhelmina, Kaiser Wilhelm II, and King Gustav IV. Queen Maria immediately declared war on Russia when evidence was found that the Russians had something to do with it, and their allies followed suit. In Germany, the prince was made Kaiser Wilhelm III, who sent his armies to crush France and Russia. Luckily for them, Russias Olga Line has held off most of the attacks. Some areas, like in Europe, have seen heavy fighting, while in South America, no fighting has occurred. See below for more details.
The Northern Front
When Queen Maria declared war, Arne Olufson, Chancellor of Sweden, immediately sent troops into Finland, although war was unofficial until Gustav V was crowned, and he signed the official document. Nonetheless, the Swedish forces have penetrated deep into Finland, and have put the Russian Czarina in a dangerous situation.

The Eastern Front
When the German Kaiser died, his son, now Kaiser Wilhelm III, attacked the Russians. He ran into a steel wall though. Literally. The Olga Line, a massive system of fortifications on the northern border of Russia and Germany, has kept the Germans paying for every inch of ground taken.

The Southern Front
Germany, unable to destroy the Russians in the East, have turned south in an effort to weaken the Russian industry. Using Romanian and Bulgarian dissidents, the Axis has scored their biggest victories here in the entire war.

The Western Front
When Empress Tatiana of France heard that her sister in Russia was being attacked, she immediately retaliated. The French army rolled through Belgium, and crushed the German defenses in the west. French Bombers have played a significant role in destroying the German armor.

Vladvistok
In Eastern Russia, the Brazilian army has taken Vladvistok with no casualties. The Koreans do look though to commit a counter offensive soon.
The War at Sea
Fearing the Russian navy, the Germans aimed to take it out before it became a factor. The Axis navy, meeting the Russians near St. Petersburg, attacked and crushed the Russian navy. However, the Russians did manage to save most ships before the Axis could defeat them.

Olympics
Before our world went to hell, we did have some great Olympic showings.
In Moscow, the Russians looked to dominate, but in the end, it was the Swedes, followed by the Germans.

A Goddess on Earth?
With the heavy Christian influences in Brazil, many people have come to see Queen Maria II as a saint; she has tackled poverty, improved education, and generally has helped all Brazilians. Some however, are taking this a bit far. The poor, the most helped by the Queens reforms, have started worshiping the Queen as a goddess. Believing they have a goddess protecting them, the poor sleep easy, and the middle class sleep fine with her being a saint. However, her popularity with the lower classes have the rich of Brazil worried.
