Nuke Nes IX: Genesis and Armageddon

To Cayun and Ut

Sure. I accept this. We are an honorable people, and as long as my descendents hold the throne, we will not make war upon the Cayun or the Ut. I'll just redraw this diagram for the exportation of steel, and we're done!

I cannot directly control all my people, but I hope that is understandable.

Orders being written.

Does anyone know if there's a button that clears text from a paint map? My parents saw fit to delete the unnamed map I use for editing :(

Oh, and approximately 48 hours till deadline

You could retrieve the map from the recycle bin. Or go in and manually remove each pickshell. I do not know otherwise.

Turyline Orders
Spoiler :
1. Centralization; the Confederacy has to have centralized to have survived, or will have to eventually. If there is not already a strong central governmental authority, expand the powers of the confederate monarch and the royal family, as well as the royal city/cities gradually and slowly, as well as begin the training and formation of a standing military directly under the command of the central monarch. If the Confederation is already centralized, the reigning monarch will proclaim an empire, dissolving the presumably-token authority of the city-states, and taking the reigns of the nation for the royals. The authority, privileges and rights of merchants will be maintained.

2. Expansion; the poor and destitute will be forced by their own needs, or by manipulation of the economy and untenable taxes employed by the government/merchants, to form the backbone of expansion into the Balkans, as well as colonial ventures along the coast of the Black Sea. Mercantile guilds with the aim of establishing colonial territory in the Crimean Peninsula and along the eastern coast of the Black Sea will be sponsored by the government, and provided with soldiers and ships for defensive persons.

3. Border fortification; expand and renovate existing border fortifications in the Anatolian hinterlands along the border with the Vanuka and the Ut. From these fortifications, we will maintain a defensive position within the region. We will use indentured tribal warriors to enact disorganized raids in Vanuka and Ut territory.

4. Road construction; a network of basic trade and transportation arteries should be constructed along the border forts in the Anatolian hinterlands, and between the various city-states. Renovate, expand and repair existing roadways. Indentured tribal workers, along with slaves and peasant workers will be used, kept in order by a military presence.

5. Raids on Albast; the government will sponsor various merchant guilds to hire mercenary fleets to raid the Adriatic coast territory of the Albast. Instability, and a desire for peace and trade, will be used as an excuse to step in and impose an "occupation" on the unruly Albastine provinces disturbed by the presence of our hired pirates. Expand this occupation into an annexation, and use our presumably superior, better-funded, and better-constituted military and navy to maintain that control. If it comes to active war with the Albast, use our own fleets, use merchant fleets, and mercenary fleets to prevent them from claiming any footholds on our coasts. Where we have to fight them on the ground, mobilize our own military, defensive militias, and discontented tribal societies to fight against the Albast.

6. Emissaries to cekirdeksel; slowly and surely destabilize cekirdeksel political authority in the colonies, using paid agents and merchant guild authorities, as well as our ambassadors. Attempt to create a divisive political atmosphere in cekirdeksel, and push regionalist policy whenever and wherever possible. If/when these efforts harm their economy, fund our merchants to pick up the slack when the tide of their exports stems.

Hi, I would like to join as a North American culture in OTL Louisiana. Stats and map for start location included.

Culture Name: Chimpawamak
Core Value: Liberty
Location: Southern Louisiana
Aggression: 1
Expansion: 5
Cohesion: 3
Agriculture: 3
Sophistication: 3
Nation Names: Tanesa
City Names: Chimpa, Tulouck, Shrem’ppak, Hyuhuamac
Ruler Names: King Tanesa and his royal bloodline
Description: The Chimpawamak descended from groups of nomadic tribes throughout the mouth of the Mississippi river (called the Tuhouc or ‘Great River’). These bands of nomadic tribes eventually settled down in their present day location of the Mississippi delta because they realized that farming the fertile land near the river was a much safer and more productive way of feeding their people rather than nomadic hunting. In the beginning, the Chimpawamak were small and insignificant, a small band of collective tribes practicing substience farming through OTL southern Louisiana coupled with fishing of the river and surronding sea. However, this all changed with the emergence of King Tanesa.

The Chimpawamak never had a charismatic leader until King Tanesa. Originally he was only Chief Tanesa, like all others before him. His reign was to be different, however. King Tanesa labeled himself King after reported visions of greatness from the gods. He claims to have seen the future and that the Chimpawamak were to be powerful and their culture was to spread far and wide. After these visions, the Chief assumed the new title of King, saying he was chosen by the Gods. King Tanesa quickly organized the tribe of substinence farmers into an expansionary force ready to spread far and wide. He began with other tribes near the Chimpawamak, until nearly most of the Lousianian delta was under Chimpawamak control. He also founded the great port city of Tanesa, where fishermen for many miles around come to sell their catch at the marketplaces of Tanesa.

The Chimpawamak people are clamoring for expansion, and their maritime traditions also run strong. They have always been tied to Tuhouc (the Great River) and the sea. The water has provided both commerce and substinence from the Chimpawamak people. King Tanesa had passed away long ago, but his bloodline has given way to strong, capable rulers so far. The Tanesa want to extend their kingdom all the way to the source of the Tuhouc, wherever that may be. They will not be content with the Louisiana penuisila.

To the Ut and Cayun
May the Admirals of Kanu-Hetas of Shanuka also sign to this proposal? The city-folk of Hetas enjoy trade over warfare. Can't really speak for the fishermen of the outer towns, though.

OK, Nuclear kid got me in here, let's see what I can come up with...

Culture Name: Baisala (The Islanders)
Core Value: Liberty
Location: Western Cuba (Baisa in the local language, also means island)
Aggression: 2
Expansion: 2
Cohesion: 3
Agriculture: 3
Sophistication: 5
Nation Names: Aspija, Yacitas, Nacardo, Polopa, Sanurit
City Names: Levisa, Neja, Brocoda, Nargada, Melarai, Dizca, Vehula, Aglama
Ruler Names: Nijao, Larcos, Eplife, Noflaso, Drenfano
Description:
  • Physical Description: Baisala tend to have dark skin and hair, but their eyes show great differences, going from sea blue to nearly black. From time to time, a child of white hair, fair skin and pink eyes will be born, but those children tend to be amongst the most important, given that their forced seclusion due to the fact that they get burned easily means they have more time to reflect and study. Usual height for a healthy adult stands between 160 and 190 cm.
  • Organization: Baisala people organize themselves in tribes, living all around the island. Each tribes lives in a fixed place, where they survive by hunting animals, harvesting foodstuffs and, of course, fishing. Every year, around the time of the great winds, the tribes meet in a central part of the island where they can take refuge if required. The tribes are mostly independent one from each other, but they do have a council of leaders of tribes that basically takes the reins of the whole group of tribes.
  • Religion: Baisala only worship three things: the Sun (Lucero), because it gives them heat and light; the Jungle (Lugira), which gives them wood, refuge and food; and the Sea (Lulian), which gives them food, salt (very important for survival) and is the centre of most of their lives. Ten-day-old babies are submerged into the sea water for a few seconds in order to welcome then to the tribe; fourteen-year-old children must build their own boat and catch something in order to become adults; couples that want to become married must have a ceremony in the sea and then take a boat for a small travel to a certain place where they copulate; and when someone dies, their family will build a boat and send them into the sea, where they believe their spirit will finally rest in peace with their antecesors.
  • Language: Baisala have a well developed language, that distinguishes between the masculine, feminine and neutral forms of the word. For example, Baisa means island, which is feminine in their language. Then, there is the word they use to refer to themselves, Baisala, but when it refers to the men of the island they say Baisalo, and to refer to women they say Baisali.
  • Others: amongst the Baisala, men and women stand at the same level, although they recognize that there are things that men can do but women can't and viceversa: for example, women can give birth to babies that will become people, but men tend to be more resilient and stronger. Sex is part of the culture, too: children are educated in the whole sex thing when they become adults, and are allowed to "experiment" with their friends, but when it comes to marriage they tend to be encouraged to meet with people from other tribes and, when they get married, move to other tribe, which helps prevent inbreeding. If someone shows an inclination towards people of the same sex, they are believed to be more powerful, given that they are of both sexes at the same time, and usually become the shamans of the tribes.

Nehiimet Orders:

Spoiler :
-Continue to develop construction techniques to handle the growth of the Nehiimet cities.
-After the advances in cartography and the expeditions of the last several centuries, a Slehel syaw’e (seer) named K’amk’em Key’exen-tse-tenex led a large group of warriors and their families east to start a new sister chiefdom between the Lakes Neq’em and Leqem (Superior and Michigan).
-Under the Shiw’eq (High Chief) Q’iilen Te-te-kel, the Chiefdom of Syewen a massive construction project was undertaken to create a capital city called Xew’es tqelc at the mouth of the River Nehiimet (Hood) and the Great Sea (Pacific Ocean).
-Also under Shiw’eq Q’iilen Te-te-kel, the Nehiimet created a series of massive earthwork designs (see Nazca Lines in OTL) to commemorate the construction of Xew’es tqelc.
-The Chiefdom of Syewen expands into the land around Salt Lake and South into the lands between themselves and the Republic of Cemolia. There will be some ritual raiding against Cemolia but no real warfare declared by the Nehiimet. In later years Nehiimet traders will attempt to establish a new market in Cemolia, usually sailing down the coast.
-Once the new chiefdom is established, it will begin to aggressively annex the lands near the lakes and along the rivers to build a larger agricultural base. Towns will begin to spring up at the tail end of this time period as a merchant class becomes established. This chiefdom is still weak compared to the Chiefdom of Syewen and as such it often receives trade shipments and weapons from them and most of its settlements are fortified.

Korowai Orders

Spoiler :
- Start building basic trade and fishing fleets along the costal villages.
- Create war ships that are designed for costal combat with there being light ships designed for pursuing slower ships, and heavy (heavier) ships which are designed more for transportation and defening the shore line
- Create watch towers and garrisons to help alert locals of any intruders
- Specialize in improving currently existing stone based weaponry
- Continue construction of roads from one village to another
- Start adapting warfare tactics to the surrounding terrian and reasources, and use unconvential warfare as the main fighting tactic
- Rapidly expand westward and have the local people of those villages to fight with the Korowai and help them to conquer more land or be killed.
- An exception to the above are children who are below age 13. Unless if they resist occupation spare the children and send them to Korowai villages far away from the front lines. Pregant women are also supposed to be spared (unless they resist) and be moved into far away Korowai villages. The elderly, depending on the case can be spared or are killed if they are too sick or resist occupation.
- Start using astronomical knowledge to help ocean and costal navigation
- Create a basic pictograph style writing used to represent words and use cuniform like writing for basic numeral systems
- Create important buildings out of stone and start improving building strength (eg: temple, tribal concil center, barracks, watch tower, ect)
- Carve pictographs on the temple walls creating symbols relating to religion
- Build wooden palisades around all villages with 700 or so people and for the largest towns a mud and brick wall renforced by stone
- Quarry stone sources within Korowai territory

OOC: You know, with me only putting three-one objectives compared to all those some others are putting, would they be more effective even with my low stability?

OOC: Very sorry for being so late. Also, sorry for the kind of long posts.

Notes on styles of government
Spoiler :
Kingdom of Helkae (the Northern Kingdom): The Kingdom of Helkae is ruled by a single king. However, the king wields only a limited amount of authority. Much of the power lies in the individual cities, who tend to keep to their own affairs. These cities are ruled by city councils, comprised of 15 men (5 young, 5 middle aged, 5 old) with a High Councilor leading them. The king is elected by the High Councilor, and rules for life, unless the council deposes him (which they collectively have the power to do).

Kingdom of Erenek (The Southern Kingdom): Unlike the Northern Kingdom, the Kingdom of Erenek's power is vested mainly in the king. While city councils do exist, their power is greatly reduced. In the place of a High Councilor, a governor is selected by the king to lead the city and/or region. Quite often, the governors come from the king's extended family, though this is not an absolute.
Sienna Orders
Spoiler :
Expansion:
Kingdom of Helkae (The Northern Kingdom): The Northern Kingdom expands slowly along the Yellow River.

Kingdom of Erenek: The Southern Kingdom Small bits of expansion will occur in the north and the west. Meanwhile, a large amount of settlers will move to the south, occupying large amounts of territory.

Developments:
Kingdom of Helkae (The Northern Kingdom):
1) Various cities began to developed advanced sericulture, resulting in the creation of a trade network. While traditionalists were originally opposed to letting merchants from Sillak into the kingdom, towards the latter part of the 5th century bc, special cities were established along the border to accommodate new trade. As a result, the western areas began to prosper.

2) Alongside the merchants came new ideas to the Northern Kingdom. Surnit religious beliefs began to seep into the kingdom. This religious movement brought about two other, non-religious movements. The Diando Movement was an artistic movement that sought to incorporate nature, both its image and the real thing, into art and building construction. It was mainly inspired by Surnit art and religion. Likewise, Salmetism gained its inspiration from Surnit religion. Adherents to this philosophy valued reason and logic above all else, challenging many preconceptions about Sienna society.

3) The infusion of new ideas led to a traditionalist backlash against them. Starting in the early 4th century bc, the Northern kingdom adopted a policy of persecution against what was seen as the erosion of Sienna society. Anyone caught spreading and/or practicing these philosophies would be jailed or executed, depending on one's level of involvement. Thus, the movements went underground, to be spread in secret.

Kingdom of Erenek: The Southern Kingdom
1) In the late part of the 6th century bc, King Nerobi Ilo began a major campaign to expand the capital city of Neshka. As part of this expansion, he commissioned to great building: The Royal Foundry and the Grand Padron (an early sort of university). These institutes drew a large number of specialists and scholars to the city. These meeting of the minds stimulated intellectual growth, though the kings were keen to steer it in a direction that benefited them. New methods in architecture, masonry, metallurgy, irrigation, and shipbuilding were developed.

2) Iron working began to develop in the mid part of the 5th century bc, yet its use was not widespread, and kept to the elite of society.

3) In an effort to consolidate this power, King Reloas Ina worked to expand the Royal Guard. Bladed weapons like swords and axes began to be distributed among the soldiers. Barracks and fortresses were set up across the empire, so that the Royal Guard would eventually replace the individual militias. In addition, some unsavory methods to increase recruitment were implemented.

4) The expansion of the military caused more grumblings to develop among the populace. People began to resent the recruitment methods. In addition, some of the new recruits were less trained, and prone to engage in acts of debauchery. The kings began to use the Royal Guard to suppress any protests against their power. However, this began to upset some of the old guard within the military. Though no significant actions were taken, it seemed only a matter of time before something would cause a schism.

Missing on one key order set from Korea and then I can begin.

Spoiler Heberians :
1. Continue to expand across Northern India, and establish a defensive border with the refugees to the south.
2. Do not invade the refugees, but counter their expansion whenever possible, utitlizing high morale, combat tradition, and an overwhelming tactics.
3. Attempt to establish a colony of Heberians on the island of Ceylon in the north, be sure to keep it supplied with goods from the homeland and send missionaries ahead.
4. During this era the High Priest was chosen as the next king, beginning a long tradition of priest-kings skilled in strategy
5. Mondeism will continue to strengthen family values and nearly obliterate hazardous health habits. Through repression of other sins, mondeims also creates an internally peaceful society.
6. Establish an ecclesiastical court system to dispense justice in the name of the king and God, being sure to snuff out corruption wherever it rears its ugly head.
7. Dispatch missionaries to the lands of our neighbors, spreading the word of God

OOC: Don't have enough time to change orders, but for the Vanukans basically follow the treaty, and expand step one and ignore the rest of the steps for now.

Really sorry for being late.

Surnit Orders.
Spoiler :
1. During this time, fearing of what happened to their nothern brothers the Kingdom of Sillak began training and equiping its outdated army. This also involoved research into better armour and weapon for the troops.

2. Architecture became a center focus during this time period, mainly for use for building early walls to help protect from invasions.

3. The Kiman himself would lead a mission to bring former Surnit built cities into the kingdom, mainly focusing on the West side due to its former glory of being the place the Rizes created the surnit.

4. The former colony in China was granted the right to govern itself, while remaining loyal to the Kiman. It was considered the first time in the history of of the Surnit people that a colony was granted a seat on the Council.

History
First Age-Establishment
The Nannuk established themselves in the Palestine. They were the first to adapt metalworking techniques of the Ut for the making of weaponary instead of tools during their fractious wars. They also are known for their overpopulation which lead to those wars.
Second Age-Exile
The Nannuk are invaded and exiled by the Ut. See Ut History Timeline. Their fractious ways were used by the Ut to turn them against each other. War Chief Dalak was the first to unite all the remaining Nannuk in a running war against the Ut, fighting for 12 years since his ascension at Dalaknu before falling not from battle but from age. His son, Kanab, lead the Nannuk to exile using giant and yet amazingly well preserved colony ships to the legendary Island of Cyrus. The Hegemonic City of Kanu-Dalak was founded, unlike any Nannuk town or city before. On Cyrus, called Kanuk, the state of Kanuka is founded and the Nannuk multiplay, waiting for a chance to return.
Third Age- Return to the Roost
The will of the Nannuk are united in the desire to prove their glory once more. The Kanabmut, Scions of Kanab, formed a ruling dynasty by monopolizing all trade, metalworking, and sanctioned warfare into the city of Kanu-Dalak. The army was slowly reformed and reorganized from a rabble of individuals to a cluster of individuals who agree to not turn into a rabble until they at least break the enemy formation. They are also stiffened with true professional soldiers who fight all the time, renting themselves as mercenaries during times of relative peace. In addition, piracy was on the rise. At first, they hired Cayun ships and raided the Ut to free Nannuk slaves, gain loot and win glroy. Eventually, through actual warfare, attrition, and slave revolts they reconquered Nannuka and enabled the colony-state of Vanuka, result of a successful and supported Nannukan Slave Revolt on the Iron Hills, to be established on Anatolia. The most notable King was Serat, the reorganizer who codified the new ways and started the war; and Kemad, the Recoqnueror who lead the Nannuka of Kanuka and Vanuka to final victory in the ruins of Dalaknu and established Kanu-Kemad, the hegemonic city of the short-lived state of Nannuka in the Nannukan Homelands (Palestine).
The Army of Serat
Serat codified the new way of Nannukan warfare on Kanuka. War, sports, and the constant hunt for glory hardened the people and allowed a strong conscript force lead by local nobles. And unlike in Nannuka, loyalty was held both to honor the vows of their forefathers AND by threat of defeat, for Serat completely centralized all industries on the new island, quashed any attempts at truly open warfare between the nobles . He then trained the city guard into a professional force specializing in utilizing and teaching the Nannukan wedge formation. It was this force that, with hired Cayun ships and ancient colony barges, he started the reconquest of Nannuka.
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=10706267&postcount=86
The Navy of Serat
The Navy of Serat was consisted of three main groups: the ancient and huge Colony Ships, large barge-type boats with great cargo and stability. The Cayun boats are swift yet large, although comparably weak and are not true warboats. They are mostly used for raids on the Ut (and by various freedom seeking pirates on the Cayun themselves) or to haul supplies. Finally, the Kanhis, or Seaship (mixture of the word Kan, sea in Nannuk and his, ship in Ut) a true warship with a stiff prow built for quick raids and boarding. These were organized in squadrons based on a harbor or a Colonyship for resupply, which are organized into larger armadas for invasions.
The War Against the Ut
War was prosecuted over many years, some times timed by mercenary or slave revolts, sometimes used to expend excess population, and sometimes to actually reconquer a strategetic or tactical point of interest. It took many years but finally, the Ut gave up Nannuka for now to the forces of Kemad, who established Kanu-Kemad near the ruins of Dalaknu, the ancient port, and split the crown of Nannuka and Kanuka, and declared them both brothers. In the north, the Vanukan Slave revolt, supported by opportunistic raids, succeeded and established a Nannukan state of Vanuka on the Vanukan Hills and the Iron Hills.
Foruth Age- Rise and Fall
The Nannuk became cocky. Their searats raided across the Nannuk Sea. Their warriors fought every generation against the Ut in raids, and invasions and counter-invasions was fought at every borderland. The fertile frontier of the Cayun was captured by the Vanukans, and their islands defiled by hired Kanukan pirates. However, this golden age was destroyed within a decade. The Nannuk were not men of seigecraft, and thus were unable to take Cayun Cities directly. Vanuka was laid low by a massive campaign by the Ut, and Nannuka was crushed and forced to return its crown to Kanuka. The great Fleet was destroyed between Crete and Rhodes, and refugees fled to the Pirate Coves of Shanuka. They have been winded... but can they still stand?
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=10747379&postcount=181
The Heroic Era
In this era was the establishment of a solid Vanukan state and the growing power of the Nannukan states overall. Ships were captured at the Phonikan Coast (Lebanon) and added to the Kanukan navy. The Vanuka invade the Cayun along the Iron hills and Nannuka face off various Ut invasions, managing to eventually defeat all of them. Nannuk mercenaries gain their names during this age for being fierce and honest/honorable fighters, but will turn on their employer a dime if payment is delayed.
The Golden Age
The way to the Golden Age was the successful invasion by the Kingdom of Nannuka of nearby lands (Jordan and Lebanon), forming formidable buffer zones and infringing on Ut supply routes to Aegypt. For the Kanukans It was the increasing profit in hiring Mercenaries to Vanuka, Cayun, Ut, Turyline, and expeditions to Nannuka. These fighters were found ranging from garrisons of Cayun’s Synt possessions all the way to Ut frontier against Almeki Tribesmen. For the Vanuka it was the conquest of the many yet-unwalled towns of the interior Cayun cities, destroying their mining capacity. By the end of the Golden Age, money and wealth flowed to every Nannukan city and their armies seemed unstoppable and endless, their raiders wide-ranging and invincible, and their wealth endless and unthinkably huge.
The Shattering
Three events lead to the Shattering. First is the huge Battle of the Nannukan Sea (Extreme Eastern Mediterranean part of the Cayun Sea) where a united Cayun Fleet destroyed the united Nannukan Fleet on their way to prosecute a full invasion of Crete. By the end of the fighting 100 ships were destroyed, leaving many armies below the sea, admirals and generals committing suicide, and the survivors scampering for safe harbors. This Cayun victory was matched on land with the defeat of a Vanukan attempt to besiege one of their cities and running them down with Scythe horsemen, while Three Ut armies crushed Vanukan lords of the Vanukan Hills and another reduced the Nannukan gains, forcing them to give up their crown to the Kanukans. It was of no avail, as the defeat of Kanuka and the Province of Nannuka was completed within the decade.
The Rebirth
Refugees from all these defeats sparked a country to grow out of the Pirate Coves of the Bekganzi coast called Shannuka. A religious leader escaped from Kanu-Kemad to Vanuka, managing to keep the country stable while reeling from its defeats. During the next era we find Vanuka and Shannuka both growing once more.
Fifth Age- Second Exodus, The Time of Now Edit
Taking advantage of the weakness of Kanuka, the Cayun stuck into the heart of their island. However, the wily pirates kept their ground and prevented a landing force for five years while the government assembled the remaining manpower to fight. The cayun eventually broke through and landed, surrounding Kanu-Dalak in seige. Inevitably they took the city and scattered the Kanukan nation across the Cayun Sea as slaves or refugees. Nannuka was lost to the Ut without tha aid of the Kanukan warriors, and the Second Exodus begun. The influx of Refugees replenished the manpower of Vanuka, who took merely a generation to reorganize before counter attacking the Shia in the north and regaining the fertile Vanukan Plateau and the mines of the Iron Hills.. To the south, the relatively peaceful kingdom of Shanuka kept the Kanukan tradition of piracy alive, if much more veiled as their commercial interests grow ever stronger.
Fall of Kanuka
The Cayun invaded the island of Kanuka while the Ut decided to finish the ancient lands of Nannuka. Although it took decades of investment, both countries succeeded in their goals. Kanuka was defeated as one pirate lord after another was ran out, and its population sold into slavery. Few families still range the hills of the interior, slowly being ferreted out by the Cayun Professional army, free of mercenaries of any kind for this operation. In Nannuka, the constant presence of Kanukan Warriors disappeared, despite the kowtowing of their dynasty to Kanuka. Their resistance, though as strong as the ancient forfathers lead by Dalak, was in vain. This completed the shattering.
Vanukan Victory
The rise of the Weknobmut Dynasty and the refugees he brought to Vanuka stabilized the nobles rebellion and the loss of manpower. It took just one generation to bring its population and productivity to Golden Age levels, although on much more mundane items like weapons and fortifications instead of towers and great tombs. The new Weknobmut army was formed, and unleashed against a Shia already struggling against the Almeki. The Vanukans reconquered the Vanukan Plateau/Hills and crushed any challenging Ut Army. Although this eventually lead to an Anti-Vanukan Coalition, negotiations defused this alliance and allowed them to safely look north.9
Shanukan Development
The Kingdom of Shannuka seemed to abandon its Pirate roots, although Piracy was not made illegal if a tax was given to the government. They expanded and controlled a southern Cayun-Aegypt trade route, and are known for sending parties to wander the deep desert in search of riches like Incense and Gold.

Update 6-Sickness of the Creator

The Creator looked down and saw why the Angels were aghast. What had destroyed their world had come to this new world. Many cried out, how could the Creator allow this to happen? How could he not only take away their chance of a new home, but also inflict such suffering upon these people? The Creator looked upon his work and noticed that yes, a disaster had came. But his creations were far more resilient than his angels gave them credit. This world had no intention of keeling over yet at least.

The Shia suffered greatly during this era of destruction. Upon the backs of the Cayun merchants and masons, and their own soldiers back from their lands, the death was brought to them. It spread in their cites, death everywhere. The Great Wall in the east needed gold and bodies, both of which the Ut needed more of. As one batch of slaves died, new ones were bought from the Cayun, but it wouldn’t be long until death caught them too. Nammu VI was able to fight the Bayuly of the Bow and the Almeks to a stalemate with a combination of fortifications, a vanguard of heavy infantry, and enough mobility from light infantry that the Almeks were forced to withdraw. The Wall was finished, but a new threat to the West was coming in form of the Nannuk once more. Nammu went out to meet their warlord, though death reached him and his diminished army before the Nannuk, and his successor, Shubsug VIII fared little better. As this went on, Anaepitos, grow angry. Shubsug was a good man, but he was a puppet, like many of the Priestesses had become. The Shia had become too large and faced too many threats in the East, and a solution was needed so that the cities would remain loyal to the Shia, but a huge garrison would not be needed. The solution was the Antuaki, secret police of the God King, who would occupy the cities and answer to the God King, not the governors. The God King became dependent on them, and the Antuaki became stronger and stronger, taking more and more powers of the state, while the military, as reasoned by Anaepitos, was left to wither and die fighting the Almeks or the Nannuk till the end of days. In reality, it was much simpler; Anaepitos was a snubbed rival of Shubsug, but Anaepitos was a respected general and had troops with him. He, and a few priestesses, declared that the God King had lost favor, and the priestesses declared Anaepitos the new god king. Shubsug could do nothing with his military in such a decrepit state, and it was left to Anaepitos to repel the Nannuk invaders. Anaepitos realized he could not hold the entire Shia, and instead withdrew to Aegyptoes, where he set up a prosperous Shia while Shubsug continued to desperately hold off the attacks into what remained of Akalamdug.

As the death spread throughout the land, the Vanukan King agreed to give up war, and perhaps not realizing it, his kingdom. The Cayun and Ut were distracted by the death, why not fight them now while they were weak? It did not matter that the Nannuk were dying just like their enemies, though granted at a slower and smaller rate, it just mattered that honor was there for the taking, and for this, the Nannuk went to war. One advantage the Nannuk had over others was their lack of dependence on huge armies, like the Ut or the Cayun. In the early days, the Cayun could find no warriors to fight in the lands of death, and their armies were depleted, skeletons with only citizen soldiers. And in this era, a Nannuk warband could cause quite a bit of damage, overrunning the western part of the Shia while the Ut were preoccupied in the East. Eventually, one Ut general was able to turn the tide, but the damage was done that the Ut would no longer seek to reclaim lost land. A small victory the Ut would take would the Nannuk refraining from further attacks against the Ut in the East, for the payoff was low compared to the West. Catapults and other siege weapons, copied and stolen from the Cayun, were being deployed against their own cities. The countryside was overran by Nannuk warbands, forcing the Cayun to retreat to their cities, which caused the death to grow stronger and go further. A few of the cities were even overran, and if it were not for one particularly mighty King of the Cayun, the ancient nation would have been destroyed. The defeat of the Nannuk in the west was taken harshly, and death began stalking the land. Eventually though, one warlord grew his army stronger than the others, and attacked the Turyline in the north, who were also suffering from death. The Nannuk were drawn to him as he showed the warrior spirit of his ancestors and his victory allowed him to claim himself Warlord of all the Nannuk, though this excluded his brothers dying in Mavi çamur. Still, the Nannuk now seem to have a viable empire, something their people have never known before.

The Cayun seemed to be a target for some punishment. For why, they may never know. As their cities grew and grew, most resources were diverted to protecting the cities, and with the people seeing the inland farms as nothing compared to the riches in the city, and the cities grew cramped, a breeding ground for disease, and yes, death. And though the slave trade picked up once again with the Ut, fewer and fewer markets were trading and prospering. Cayun ships no longer left brimming with goods and coming back with gold and silver. It seemed things couldn’t get worse, until the Nannuk came. There was supposed to be an agreement, but how could savages respect something such as honor? The people of the countryside fled into the cities, which became a breeding ground for more death. The Ut were preoccupied, the Turyline were gleeful at this turn of events, the Bu Blathe were being beaten back. The Cayun, a nation which had created so much seemed about to fall. And it would have, if not for one man. Known only as Suyu, he led one of the few expeditions that had any form of success. Raised at one of the academies, Suyu had a passion for war, not unlike a Nannuk. His family, in lieu of abandoning him, had him take the role as a leader in the conflict with the Lyba. Perhaps death passed him by when he set sail. His victory over the High General of the Lyba was legendary, and it seemed his citadels would never fall. However, word of the troubles with the Nannuk reached him, and in exchange for their freedom, the Lyban slaves he had yet to send to the Ut agreed to fight for the Cayun. He sailed west to another Cayun colony, where he found the remnants of the failed Syntian War, and merged them with his own army. Going back to the East, he put down a slave rebellion in Yangın dağı and Mavi çamur, and then went back to his home. Suyu found the enemies at the gates, and seeing a man with an army, the Cayun elected him King on the condition that he defeated the Nannuk agressors. In what would be known as the Battle of the Dying Planes, Suyu was able to defeat Shomeik of the Nannuk, and turned the invaders back. With the citidels either secured or recaptured, he went East to reconquer the Cayun homelands, and the Nannuk finally accepted a peace of sorts. Suyu focused the remainder of his time trying to keep the Cayun from collapsing on itself, and although the Lyban and Syntian expeditions ended up in relative failure, the Cayun were able to preserve through these troubled times, thanks to the victories of one man.

The Turyline were no more spared from the death that the others were. Although initially the Turyline were hit lightly, which allowed them to divert forces to take advantage of the Almekian withdrawal and the Sycthe’s other preoccupations, soon, the death visited their lands and their cities as well. Ostrikine, the capital, in particular suffered from the death, and more than two thirds of its populace was wiped out in the death. More

The Scythe continued their expansion along the river, setting up new towns and villages. A new dynamic seems to be taking hold, with the southern towns developing more specialized products, while the northern ones near exclusively trade agriculture. The withdrawal of the Almeks allowed the Scythe to expand their kingdom, though their traditional allies made a pass at them that was defeated. The death did come to the Scythe, though it did not have the effect as it did in the southern cultures.

The Republic of Albast suffered from the death, though not nearly as much as the easterners were. The death did however create a power vacuum in the peninsula, and a group of rogue senators and merchants established power in the south under a King. As the death begins winding down, and the intent of the Higelante to focus on a different enemy may allow the Republic to return to their unquestioned dominance of the peninsula, or perhaps may cause a new order to be installed.

The Lybans, flush from their victory over the Cayun, decided to press their advantage even further, attempting to seize other territories the Cayun held. The fortresses were unable to be taken for the most part, and the efforts of an early Lyban navy failed in comparison to the seasoned Cayun fleet. The defeat was far worse when it came to land, and the one battle in open combat the Lybans lost was to the mighty Cayun war king. Although the Lybans were defeated, the Cayun were expelled once more from their land, the tribes would no longer fracture with an enemy at the gates, and the iron tools and abandoned ships have been copied by the Lybans. Perhaps the roles will be reversed one day.

The Kingdom of Synt initially seemed in a desperate situation, even with the death spreading little here. The Cayun hold outs and raids on the coast were dealing heavy damage to the Syntians, and in the north, Bu Blathe had defeated a Syntian army on two separate occasions and was preparing for an invasion of the Syntian homeland. However, fortune smiled upon the Syntians. Rumors of a great punishment in the East slowed down, and eventually stopped, the Cayun raiders, and they abandoned their efforts in Synt. And in the North, the Bu Blathe became distracted with internal problems as they invaded Synt and were forced to turn back. The Syntians rebuilt their military, and then launched an invasion of Bu Blathe. Though Bu Blathe had better weaponry, the Syntians far outnumbered them, and were able to claim victory. However, seeing the Bu Blathe defeated, it seems the Higelante at last see the threat the Syntians are, and have taken measures accordingly.

The Higelante were spared from the death for the most part, though there were other worries. Bu Blathe, in concert with their Cayun allies, launched an invasion of Synt, however, with the strongest of the Higelante Kings distracted, the northern states eagerly launched invasions of Bu Blathe, forcing the bulk of their armies back. Eventually Bu Blathe fell to a new Higelante state, which united the others into Freavthdom, which seems intent on blocking Syntian expansion, already borrowing the idea of fortified cities from the Cayun.

In the north, a final battle between the Scontians and the Thralingence came to an end. The Thralingence seem to finally accept the fact that the Scontians will be here to stay on the island, though tensions are incredibly high. The Scontians accept it, and though the raids have ceased, the Scontians are always wary for a renewed fighting spirit from the northerners.

The Chimpawamak, united under King Tanesa have established themselves upon the Delta, with a large village evolving called Tanesa. Tied to the Tuhouc (Great River) and the Sea, the Tanesa seek to expand across the land, developing fishing boats and boats that can travel up the Tuhouc.

The Baisala in the south developed their own type of nation. Like the Chimpawamak, the Baisala are a very expansive culture, however their ships are designed more for the sea, not for the river. The tribes are independent and self sufficient for the most part, though it seems trade may pick up as they begin meeting other tribes.

The Deltan people to the West seem to worship and covet their water, understandably so with the scarcity of it in nearby areas. Unlike other tribes, the Deltan have actually conquered other tribes in search of this resource, showing a remarkable efficiency in battle. Though their weapons are similar to most, it is their tactics, their numbers, and their determination that makes the Deltans strong.

Aside from traditional raids and later, trade, the Nehiimet have begun more or less ignoring their southern neighbors, and turned inward, building up their cities and nation. Many of the young warriors demanded war with the southerners, which was denied by the Nehiimet rulers, and as a result, many left to the East to form their own tribe, determined to show the dominance of the Nehiimet soon. In the meanwhile, in Syewen, a new capital was built and the people have begun relying more and more upon agriculture, causing the chiefdom to grow even stronger, despite the loss of some of their fine warriors.

To the south, the Republic of Cemolia seemed ready to dominate the area. The northern Nehiimet were strong, and the raids showed that. The Cemolians knew that they needed more land and more people before they were ready to impose dominance upon their lands. As a result, the Confederacy of Verak was attacked and defeated, and then, the Empire of Cresos was next. The Republic won nearly every pitched battle, but the interesting tactics of the Psion eventually forced a halt, and then they were pushed back a bit. Now the Republic has many lands under its banner, yet her neighbors are on an even footing with them. How will the Republic fare?

The Confederacy of Verak had no chance to stop the northern threat, and Cresos nearly met the same fate, with defeat after defeat at the hands of the Cemolians. The tactics which had let the Psion establish an empire was about to cause it’s fall; the Cemolians were better at war. It came back to the old ways to drive the invaders out; poison, ambushes, hit and run tactics. The Cemolians were unprepared for this, and though they could always beat the Psion on the open field, they couldn’t fight when their army was sickly and dying. As the invaders left, the weapons captured were studied, and soon the Empire was making their own variations of the northerners weapons. Now, if the north seeks to try something else, the Psion will be ready, though an empire needs to either be reclaimed or rebuilt.

For the Dominikans, an odd reversal of trends has been found. The Huntra Union is collapsing, as trade between the various states becomes less and less guaranteed, and many islands are turning inwards to self sufficiency. Though officially the Huntra Union has yet to be disbanded, the reality is that it’s a de jure state with no real power over its land. The opposite can be said in the Great Land, as both the Kompendon and now Dynajar have grown stronger, though for the most part the people are sticking closer to the coast in order to continue fishing and trade, though agriculture is developing in the Kanates as well.

The Korowai began using heavy use of stone in their culture. Tribes would build stone structures for temples, and when times were rough, for defense. Small ships were used but mostly for fishing by the Korowai. For the most part, the people remain isolated from each other, and though it’s easier to move from one village to another, few see the point in doing so.

The Kingdom of Timor suffered greatly for their expansion. Throughout the islands they ruled, their slaves rose up and killed their overseers and burned the cities of the Shiba. Though the homeland and some of the outlying islands were spared, the unfortunate fact was that the Shiba were too widespread and could no longer sustain their kingdom. Even the other islands the King supposedly ruled were in fact, self governing and had no interest in the edicts of a man who could not send aid to end rebellions.

The Hikatari Clan in the North was determined to conquer their island. Emmisaries to the north were sent, and though some would submit, most offers of peaceful conquest were rejected. War was declared, and with the bronze weaponry of the Hikatari, the others with mere stone tools were conquered under their heel. Now, the towns of the north are assuredly obey the Hikatari, and the Ryun looks north for further wars and victories.

The Surnit began rebuilding under the Sillak. Putting naval expeditions on the backburner for now, the Sillak began a reconquest for their former cities. It helped that the outsiders had for the most part left, but those who stayed felt the wrath of the iron weaponry of the Sillak armies. A Kinman was reestablished for the Sillak Kingdom, and he led the way in driving the outsiders from the lands of the Surnit. It seems one final push and the Surnit Peninsula will be united under one government for the first time in over a thousand years.

The Sienna, usually an island of stability, suffered greatly. As the threat that had defeated the Surnit moved south, Helkae became the front line in a battle for survival. Forced back from the other side of the river, the Helkae needed to call upon the Royal Guard in Erenek to help maintain the northern border. Erenek itself was suffering from increased rebellions of the peasantry. As the Surnit was trading less and less, the merchants increased their prices exponentially, causing many peasants to storm merchant quarters and kill the merchants. The Royal Guard was needed to disperse these rebels and on two separate occasions, Neshka went up in flames from the riots. As the peasants were brutally slaughtered when they rose up, the rebels dispersed, turning to banditry and terrorizing the countryside, causing further instability and the Guard expanded out of necessity. Unwilling to let Helkae fall, as a father would protect his son, the Guard expanded even further, upsetting the old guard and the more professional soldiers. With more and more peasants leaving the farms to be rebels, bandits, or soldiers, food production went down heavily, and hunger stalked the land. Back in the north, the failure of traditional Sienna culture to stop the outsiders manifested itself in the Diando movement and Salmetism, both influenced by Surnit culture. Unfortunately for these new thinkers, they were brutally persecuted, and went into hiding. However, it was not all doom and gloom. As Neshka went up in flames the second time, The Royal Foundry and the Grand Padron drew scholars and artists to their doors, and some of the Diando and Salmetists found an oasis here. Iron too became more and more refined, and there is a possibility it could be used by the Royal Guard to help in their conflict.

The Kingdom of Hiberia continued to grow, in both size and their faith. Though a new potential rival had emerged in the south, Hiberia continued to have an unmistakable advantage in their armies, including the new iron weaponry. Unfortunately, an expedition to set up a colony in the south failed, as the colony could not be supplied efficiently and the settlers were driven into the sea. Many are unsure as to how much of a threat the dark skinned natives in the south can prove to be, though the prevailing opinion seems to be if they can be beaten once, then they can be beaten again.

The Tarkanen Dynasty was founded by Mauryanga, a spirited woman displaced by the Hiberians to the north. She has united many of the displaced tribes and with the aid of locals, has established a powerful kingdom. Looking to the north, the Tarkanen are fearful but confident that the Hiberians will not be successful as they were in the First Conquest.

The legend of Re’hal Torik took hold upon the Taharnnen as expeditions continued to go further and further north, though the most northern outposts were abandoned quickly due to supply issues. The High Chiefs decreed a road must be built to the outposts as to ensure their survival, and though many would prefer to be fishing and hunting, it was done. Unfortunately, the decline of agriculture in the Taharnnen has caused more and more people to abandon more inland areas and instead cling to the coast to ensure they will not perish from starvation.

The Almeks, lacking a great leader, did not pose as the destructive force as they were meant to be. Though the death was nearly nonexistent in their lands, the advance party fell victim to it as they probed into the Shia. As the displaced tribes of the south rose up, the Almeks realized that the areas they had conquered were not sustainable for their massive horse armies. As a result, they retreated back to the steepes, and have begun consolidating rule under fewer and fewer warlords, though there is yet to be one ruler of the Almeks who could lead them to conquer the mighty Shia.

Notes

Three cultures could start fairly well developed, in Persia, Manchuria, and Singapore areas :)

Sorry about the update delay, alot of my friends are leaving for college this weekend, and alot of graduation/goodbye parties going on. I'm sorry for the delay this has caused you though :(

We are at the year 300 B.C. or so, and the next update will be about 150 Years, so please plan accordingly.

I'm fleshing out the stats a bit. Capitals of your nations, if you haven't provided them, would be greatly appreciated.

As a note to all of you, your culture and your kingdoms probably will collapse at some point, or will go through a really low point. That is not game over. Look at Terrance for a revival story. If you are ever completely conquered, that's ok too, you're still in the game. You can lead your resistance movement or talk about how your culture changes through occupation and displacement.

We are in an era where, aside from the South Pacific and Japan, you have iron tools and weapons, and aside from Japan and Australia, you have fairly good control over your nations.

You all have wiki pages, so no excuse not to add to the wiki ;)

Sorry for the wait, orders in by Saturday/Sunday September 3/4th would be ideal, though I will still accept late orders. Remember, the earlier I have them in, the earlier I can cross that part of the update off the list.

Enjoy :goodjob:
