Oh, the weather outside is...

64F/17.8C and sunny today.

It was suppose to be dry during the day today but it is drizzling.

It was below zero F / -21C last week. Yesterday it got up to 70F / 21C. Now it's 31F / -1C.

I forecast a blizzard this summer. It seems appropriate.

Rain today, just like yesterday. It is supposed to dry up tomorrow.

A bit of rain yesterday, lots and lots of rain this morning. There is a burn area on the edge of the city I live in that's under threat of flash floods but I'm safe where I'm at.

And rain in NM tonight. The jet stream has dipped south and is bringing us the wet stuff. We might get .25 inches.

In the space of two weeks I've watched the empty lot across the street turn from a barren dust bowl into a verdant garden and now a small lake.

The hills have all turned a lovely green in a way they didn't last year when the rain didn't really show up.

Well 6mm (0.25 inches) will lay the dust.

Nice and sunny here today and about 11C. Dry but cloudy tomorrow and showers Sunday and Monday. Going to stay warm over next week with lows of 6C and highs of 12C.

Pretty much all the beaches in LA County have advisories now telling people not to go into the water due to the dangers of high bacteria load brought on by all the run off from the rain in the area.

In the desert we count every drop.
Even though I've basically been living in a deep freeze for the last couple of weeks and have been wearing multiple layers, plus socks and occasionally knitted gloves to bed, I still can't fathom why anyone would want to live in a desert.

I'm not kidding - a few days ago it got up to -25C for a few hours and everyone was commenting about what a nice day it was (later on it went back below -35C).

Keep in mind that deserts are not all hot; they are just dry. Most people think of the american SW as Phoenix: 70s in winter and 120 in the summer. Most people feel like you do about deserts: eew! I think that to appreciate just how delightful a desert can be, you have to spend time in one. Until I moved to NM in 1990, I would have never imagined living in or even liking such an environment. In central NM we have four distinct seasons, snow on the mountains, summers in the 90s+, winters in 30s-40s (daytime), and very little rain. We have mountains (up to 14,000 ft), rivers, mesas, plains, forests, wildlife, and a big beautiful blue sky most days.

Miserable today, was supposed to be dry but overcast.
Misty, only about 500m visibility at my altitude, looking down hill I can see about 2km.

Put out some washing yesterday morning hoping it would be nearly dry now as it is 12C. It will have to stay out there now, till Monday or Tuesday, as I do not need it so am not going to tumble it.

When I lived in the desert you could hang the washing out and it would be dry in 30 minutes.

The sun returns bright and warm and full of life!

I did two loads of laundry this morning and it was mostly dry within 30 minutes of being hung on the line. Jeans might take a bit longer in winter.

We had a brown christmas, so late Jan-February has been doing all the work of catching us back to (or exceeding) normal snowfall totals for the season. Yesterday I climbed the snowbanks at the end of the driveway to spread the snow around and flatten it so with the new storm I wouldn't have to throw the snow 10 feet high or carry it 20 feet away.

I will enjoy early june when the kids are still in school making up all their missed school days....

Sure has been a live one, eh? We're getting the freezing rain again on top of snow. At least it keeps my mood up. When the weather gets stuck I get in a funk.
