Oh, the weather outside is...

Mild rain throughout the day, highs around 65 F / 18 C here in Osaka.

As an aside, I hear some thumping noise upstairs. Do Japanese people do Indian rain dances? :coffee:

強い台風14号、北に転向 週末、本州にかなり接近へ
Strong typhoon #14 turns north, appearing to draw very close to Honshu this weekend

As of 9:00AM Thursday, October 8th typhoon #14 ("Chan-hon") is heading north to the ocean east of the Amami Islands. Although having headed in a westerly direction until now, from yesterday evening to this morning it has changed course to a northerly direction. From tomorrow, Friday the 9th, there is a fear it could change course to northeast and approach Honshu. Stay tuned for further information.

Well, if I wasn't already going to spend time at home this weekend. :crazyeye:

We had a thunderstorm this morning when i got up at 6am for my medication. That was unexpected.

The air pollution from the smoke came back and drove my allergies crazy again. I spent most of yesterday in another benadryl haze and I'm over it.

From the wildfires?
Yes, they still are not snuffed out. Depending on which way the winds are blowing, we get a break for a couple of days, then the smoke rolls back in. I think every year I've lived here the state breaks records on the size of wildfires, year over year. It just gets worse and worse to the point now where it's had big, tangible impacts on my daily life for almost a month. My apartment may not be burning down but I have to plan my week around the fires to a large extent.

After about a month of no rain to speak of we are finally getting some tonight and tomorrow.

A cool raw 16C in Springfield, Oregon. The good news is because of the rain that came through the nearby forest fires have now been pretty much contained.

We had an "orange warning" rainfall last night: "intense rainfall between 15 mm to 30 mm may be expected within one hour." My phone provider sends me these warnings in Tagalog, even though I specified English as my language and I live in an area that speaks Visayan.

I slept through it.
My dogs must be happy we converted our motorcycle shed into a large doghouse. :):):):):)
The bedrooms on the upper floors of the little house now have a metal roof. It must have been loud. :crazyeye:

59F/15C at the moment. Both neighbors got their heaters on. I’m wearing sweatpants, no heater. Window’s open for some airflow.

You people think this is cold? The summer may have been a bit much for me this year, but now we’re on my turf!

That sounds really nice and I can't wait for temperatures in that range. They keep promising a break to our heat but the best we get is a couple of days in the mid 80's and then it's back into the 90's. I think I read we're in a La Nina weather pattern which means a generally dry, warm winter. That's bad for forest fires right now, but also potentially good for forest fires next year as the lack of rain means less plant growth that can burn next year.

I do miss the rain. It's been over 130 days without any rain and I was hoping for a wet winter.

57/14 degrees here in Osaka now. Still can't get used to centigrade! It sounds weird and wrong.

Anyway, at 57 degrees it's a bit chilly. Got the window open for ventilation, but my computer outputs enough heat to compensate for the loss.
