Picking up the Pieces

Hey,

"As you can see Empress Mako." Jet lite one of his last cigars & pointed at the file in her hands with it. "The Yankee Suns offer you all you wish. The military support of a rising economy." He turned from the young woman dressed in J.D.F. fatigues & a priceless crown. "We have the firepower to back your bid to gain a empire."

She set the file to the side & unhosltered her pistol. "I understand all that." She stood and leaved the gun at his back. At this the Empress guards drew a bead on Jet as well. "What price do I have to pay the devil for such a deal?"

Jet walked slowly to the middle of the makeshift throneroom and spin to look at her as devilishly as possible. He took a deep drag of his cigar hoping that the smoke would add a sinister effect. "You will have to join The Yankee Suns."

"You." She began laughing. "You expect me to join a your Yankee Suns?"

"Yes I do." He took a few steps back. "When you join we will then be honor bound to claim a empire for you." He looked around the room at each guard, then back to Empress Mako. "But before you answer I want to show you something. Please don't shot." He took another drag & looked at his watch. "In our growth the Yankee Suns have mastered many new alien techs." He spread his arms. "One we have mostly mastered is teleportation. Again please do not shot."

Jet always thought it was funny that there wasn't any light flash or heat blast or colored lights when you teleported. No sound or noise to the event. Just a strange smell. Strange in the sense that it was a familiar smell. The smell of cinnamon. It was just the slightest hint in the air, but it was cinnamon.

In a blink they were there standing between Jet & the Empress. Black lined lipped, Lt. Rose and the Tokyo teen schoolgirl Miyabi. The leader of the newly created Satsu Onnanoko Kurabu. The Kill Girl Club.

"Think what that means. The power to move anywhere at anytime. To make a enemy disappear." He once again struck a devilish glare at Empress Mako. Who had retreat to her throne in disbelief. "What will it be Empress? Footnote or mother to a empire?

I can have my orders in after I know if the Empress joins or not.

To: The Yankee Suns
From: Kyoto

The Empress is very impressed, and she would gladly accept the help of the Yankee Suns. She has proclaimed that all loyal Japanese subjects must provide every assistance they can to the Yankee Suns and defend the honor of that storied organization, the Liberators of Tokyo and the masters of Teleportation. She will be adopting an unofficial role and remain in the old capital, while the Yankee Suns will be given political jurisdiction of Kyoto and its citizens.

Your payment has been sent, we are willing to offer the same rate for a similar group we’ve located on the Yucatan Peninsula, now they are threatening our supply lines further south.

Thanks, and sure.

We have heard of your arrangement with the Cartels and we wish to assist you, we have grown accustomed to driving human vehicles, and using their electronics, including piloting what they call “ships” though the things can’t fly, they just float on this planet’s water. We would be willing to help you understand these techniques and send troops to the Chitzen Itza if you would be willing to split the take and let us have 1 EP of the reward.

Ehh, sure, of course.

Sorry for the late replies :p

I like the story a lot Blaze, I've greatly enjoyed all of the stories. Go ahead and describe nonspecific game mechanics like that any way you want, I didn't know what the sensation of teleportation was like in this universe until you described it.

Orders sent :)

Is the map small and fussy for anyone else?

I guess the uploading site is strinking a much nicer copy that you have SKILORD?

I have a very large, not fuzzy at all version.

You're the one who told me to use tinypic, I've noticed they have a lot of resizing options, am I maybe using the wrong one?

The Upload looks OK to me, it is hard to make out some encampments, but if you're trying to measure the distance between locations you'd probably be better off with Google Maps or mapquest. I believe I have gotten all the encampments right in the stats post, this isn't a particularly map heavy game.

Update 3: September 2013 39 Weeks since Invasion

+3 Computers, +5 ET Uplinks)

These seem to have failed to reach my stats...

Well, the stats for this turn were apparently VERY sloppy, I probably should have spent more time working on them. Saving them for last and rushing them is clearly not a viable work model. While I'm writing the updates from now on I'm putting your stats right there in the word file until I copy it to post it so that I can update stats correctly and more efficiently.

Shameful.

The internet sucks. Imageshack, Photobucket, TinyPic all shrink the map.. they never used to :(

I can't find an uploader that actually doesn't shrink the maps!

http://imageshack.us/?no_multi=1 doesn't seem to resize the image..

In your pre-thread you posted the cost of research.. these costs don't match what I am now seeing in my stats. Have I missed something, or have you re-jigged the costs? (sorry for all these questions, but i've not been able to post before!!!!)

Read the pre-thread. All the South American nations have a penalty to research, while Europeans (Like me) have a bonus. But SA nations get a bonus in economic development, while Europeans have a pentaly in reputationn (But I have been pwning the collective butts of all the nations anyways in that department, I have 19, while the next highest is only 14).

All nations that aren't in East Asia have their own bonus and penalty depending where they are. They're all explained in the backstory.

Ooh fair enough. What does reputation matter?
