Play Combat Animations in Options.sql

If I set this to 0 (quick combat) the game no longer works correctly. This research tree is blank, the city I initially found cannot produce anything. Can't end turn. Etc.

Setting it back to 1 fixes all the issues.

Any idea on what could be the problem?


I do not check Quick Combat in the game menu.

I always play with quick combat so maybe this is the same issue I had where commenting out GEC_Production.xml fixed the problem....I didn't even think to try with quick combat off because that increases turn time by I'd say a factor of 3-5.

Still not working.

I tried enabling and disabling quick combat in Civ 5 Menu.

I still assume that enabling quick combat through the menu (while having it defaulted off in options.sql) will bork the game and cause some specials to not work properly. Is that still the case?
