Those are both bad things, how are they supposed to learn to stop being poor if we just give them money?!

In the case of the retired, they don't have much time left in life, or the physical (and at times, mental) ability to "learn to stop being poor." Besides, that argument is highly flawed, anyways, for anyone, because the ultra-wealthy captains of industry and commerce and the corrupt politicians in their pocket and their atrocious, crooked, irresponsible, and tantamount to criminal economic activities are responsible for the great majority of poverty everywhere, not a lack of "learning to stop being poor," or other fiscal conservative/Randian vicious and loathsome lies and myths.

Well who's fault is that? If the unwashed millions can't find one of the ~20% of well paying jobs they are the ones at fault, not the people who made sure that 80% of jobs don't pay enough to lift them out of poverty. That's blaming the job creators, and without them we wouldn't have anything at all! Don't be ungrateful!

Well, since you're obviously fully revealed as nothing but a shill and brainwashed drone for the plutocratic oligarchs and their complete propaganda campaign of lies and misinformation, I think anything you post from now that touches at all on fiscal matters can be safely disregarded by any rational, educated, and in-touch person with actual real world experience, a sense of reality, and any sort of humanity. You've just committed rhetorical suicide!

You really do need to get a sarcasm detector, my dude. Do you not remember reading literally anything else I've ever posted?

Those jobs used to be a lot more available.
Wages took a massive jump in WW2.

If there's only 20% good jobs available it usually doesn't take long for that 20% to become the new aristocracy via neopotism.

Even if it's a meritocracy that top 20% can afford the best schools, tutors, University.

That's ignoring the advantages of contacts.

Do that for a few generations band people start thinking about things like revolution.

You'll get a new top 20% using your logic the previous 20% deserve it.

The top 20% are also reliant on the army etc remaining loyal. Otherwise see comment about revolution.

The generation post war thought they knew better. The previous generation figured out the basics, economy distress fuels extremism. 20th century that was fascism and communism. Both failed.

I don't think reliable "sarcasm detectors," are available for text-based Internet forums. At least not without it being a scam offered for sale unbidden in your email's spam folder.

I did support Sanders in 2016, and than supported Trump. In 2020, I supported Sanders, although I really liked the campaigns of Yang and Ojeda, and to a lesser extent Warren. I used to like Gabbard but not so much anymore. I hope someday Yang will be president, but if i was American i would vote Biden, although the Tara Reade scandal made me doubt my commitment. The only Republican I like is Josh Hawley, and I would love to see the GOP to move into that direction, while including tackling climate change in their platform. I strongly support a primary challenge for Biden in 2024 from Warren however. I don't know if Biden can win in 2020 however. I think Trump will bounce back and take some critical states. I don't even think Wisconsin will be close at all, but be firmly in Trump's column, but it all depends on how fast the economy recovers and if we see a second COVID-19 wave. Trump is handling COVID-19 terribly.

It's a character flaw of those with limited intellect oh great one.

Please forgive me oh great one. I know not what I do.

Please I beg of you let me bask in your glory oh great one. Your superiority in philosophy and rhetoric hath defeated me.

It's not my fault oh great one. My parents were poor/didn't hit me hard enough/ Obama did it. Wasn't me!
