I wont support Biden, his vote to invade Iraq is a deal breaker and he was a driving force behind the drug war. Thats too much evil to stomach, but thats the past so I dont see him revisiting the horrors he helped unleash on the world and country. Still, I wont reward him. He should be in jail. And I'm sure he was well aware of the torture program so he's either a war criminal or covered for them.

I don't know if Biden wants to take my guns or not, but I do know he doesn't care much for gun safety so I don't think either side of the debate should be willing to trust him with gun policy. Remember his remark about just firing a shotgun wildly into the night in order to scare off an intruder? It's comments like that that makes him a waffling doofus.

I think the context was needing an AR-15 to ward off a home invasion when a shotgun would suffice.

BREAKING NEWS

We’ve registered our first Biden only vote!

I don’t have a horse in this race, I’m just enjoying the results.

Not sure. I've never been registered and have voted for either party at times. I really didn't understand who Republicans were in my 20s. Now Hillary and Biden are showing me who Democrats are. At least Obama and even Third Way Bill Clinton paid lip service to the idea of universal healthcare. Even before the internet I thought it was stupid that other countries have it but we don't.

Was it Lexicus who posted that rightward ratcheting of American politics post in the 2020 thread? I'm not contributing to that anymore. If Biden and Clinton losing to an orange clown is what finally dispels the moderates are more electable BS, fine.

I'm pretty sure that was me, except I might have stolen it from Lexicus earlier  not sure where I got that image from.

I've been waffling on whether or not I would vote for Biden in the general and I think I've landed on a 'no' answer. Biden gives control back to the GOP in 2024 almost guaranteed, and also halts the leftward movement like you said. In this specific case, I am accelerationist because what choice do we have if we are going to get progressive policies through? We have to get people angry and out to vote and Biden doesn't inspire that and he doesn't bring any policies to bear either. The swing voters who make the pendulum go back and forth every 8 years will be pissed that he status quo'd everything and also the recession that's coming up, he'll take that, and he'll get kicked out in 24 for a Republican. Now it's back to sliding right again after only a brief stop. I'd rather try to break the ratchet so leftward movement is possible.

I haven't seen any true international trolls (just those labelled such because they're opinions are "inconvenient" and "difficult to defend against," so schoolyard namecalling and cliched dismissal is an easier tactic to use) - though somewhere @Commodore was asking where to sign up to gain part-time employment as a Russian troll.
I've made the specifics of my objections pretty clear all along and they aren't "because they're opinions are "inconvenient" and "difficult to defend against". I've never even said their opinions wrong. You should actually know what you are talking about before you post about me.

That is a pretty bold statement [snicker]. Why do you think so? Biden won't be running again. It is likely going to be his VP. Who will the Repubs run? Not Trump. Paul Ryan? Ted Cruz? Mark Meadows?

My presidential vote would depend what state I lived in. There's zero reason to hold your nose and vote tactically in about 70% of states, including all of those I'd be most likely to want to live in.

State rules would also condition what I might do during primary season.

Fair enough, @Arwon.

Unfortunately, very few people are behind my idea to make America an absolute monarchy under King Thomas I of the House of Sowell.

And I still reject your objections thoroughly for the reasons I've stated, especially the one about self-improvement almost never being found entirely from insight within. And it's not like American politics or society are an inscrutable or mysterious terra incognita to the rest of the world. In fact, American politics and society are "broadcast the loudest," of any.

On the basis of this country refusing to keep one party in power any longer than their presidential term and the power of incumbency being a very strong factor to overcome which won't be happening for the Democrats in 2024

You should start a thread on "How to change America". It would be the place to talk about those views. I'd participate.

I know how.

US population in 1776 was similar to NZ now.

Bulldoze everything into the Pacific and Atlantic. Gibs clay to NZ. Give us 200 years well do a better job at running it.

Why wouldn't the power of incumbency apply to the Dems in 2024?

+-3 years under Biden, 1 year under Warren, Warren runs and uses the incumbency power to get elected two more times.

He taking a shot at Biden. Basically saying Biden can't win.

Then what he said above makes no sense. Biden can't give control back if he never had it. :dunno:

While your criticism is absolutely valid, he still wouldn’t be a downgrade if elected considering who the current administration is.

I was wrong, Sanders didn't whoop Clinton in Michigan, it was really close

It got sort of amplified as a "whoopin'" at the time because of two things...Clinton went in with a strong lead in the polls, like eight or nine points...and it was supposed to be the final nail that convinced Sanders to pack it in. Instead, he won and did his whole "everyone said it was impossible" little engine that could bit.

But tonight was just bad news for the Sanders campaign. Missouri was even closer than Michigan last time and even though he lost it wasn't like he couldn't put it next to the win in Michigan as a win he could sure throw it in as a surprising result showing he was competitive. Getting blown out this time looks bad by comparison. Throw in the loss in Idaho, where he won last time and pile on with Washington being a nailbiter instead of his 45 point signature blowout over Clinton and overall there is nothing to say but that this was a drubbing.

It's really hard to work on a campaign when the stink of death sets in, and I really think that for the good of his supporters Sanders needs to consider not dragging them through any more mud.

Saying you'd vote for one dem and not the other in an election against Trump is offering direct and literal support to his campaign to divide his opponents, and thus to extend his stay in office.

Have you not noticed how getting people to keep saying stuff like that is a plank of his strategy, or do you just not care how much more hatred and misery will result if it works?

We aint out yet, but would Biden pull us out of Afghanistan?

no, Biden is an old-school atlantic internationalist who sees the place of the US as the policeman of the world. But foreign policy has not been a factor at all in the democratic primaries. Their voters just dont seem to care or just value interior politics so much more.
