poll: how much ice do you put in your drinks?

I go about half the cup with ice for fountain drinks. I do order "easy ice" at the drive through. If I have a canned soda I will fill the glass entirely with ice because I intentionally keep my canned sodas in a warm place so they get cold and watered down a little bit at the same time. Canned soda is too thick by my tastes.

For beverages or for drinks?

For soft beverages at a fountain dispenser, I put in about 1/3 to 1/2 ice. When I am drinking soda at home, I do not add ice as I have generally chilled the beverage in the fridge prior to pouring.

Adding ice at a soda fountain is good because I am often taking the cup away with me and I want to keep my beverage cool while I am in the car. This is unnecessary at home as I can pour a half glass that will stay cool while I consume it and then pour another half glass later and both will be cold. Also, a glass that I drink from at home is generally a better insulator than a thin plastic cup I get from a soda fountain. So my soda stays colder, longer w/o ice at home than from a fountain.

For drinks, it obviously depends on the drink, but I like half ice in a Old Fashioned glass w/ my G&Ts.

No ice. I don't drink my soda that quickly, if I put ice in it then by the time I'm finished drinking it the ice will melt and make the drink taste watery. If I wanted water I'd get water, when I want Coke I want Coke, not some monstrous half Coke/half water hybrid.

Given the horror stories I've heard about the sanitation standards of ice dispensers in restaurants, no ice in sodas I'm buying. When I'm home I put in lots of ice.

1-2 cubes are enough for cooling. Anything more is unnecessary and takes up space

If I get to opportunity to get the drink from a dispenser, I won't even touch the ice button.

There is that as well. Although in my case the horror stories also extend to the soda dispenser itself. What's life without a few risks, eh?

BTW anyone who is a serious germophobe should NEVER order a shake at a fast food restaurant, I'm surprised those things don't grow legs and walk themselves to your car.

Almost no ice. I even ask for my water at restaurants with no ice.

If I am getting coffee at a restaurant, though, I'll spoon in a few cubes in order to cool it down more quickly.

Bah. The germ that can survive at the temperature of an ice dispenser has earned any opportunity it can get.

If I am at home or getting free refills and not allowed to take the cup with me to go, then the real question is how much drink can I add to a cup already filled past the brim with ice.

If I am paying for a drink to take home with me and so won't get any free refills, I add little to no ice.

Usually though I opt for a free cup of water, about 2/3 full of ice.

Max ice. Like up to the brim but not too full so that I can't put the plastic top on. Of course I generally only drink water so I'm not really missing out on anything.

I'll do that for ice.

1) YOU get real
2) We should ban that country

Norway is awesome. They call crazy things Texas, have a doomsday seed vault, and have a person who thinks she's half-cat.

So nobody does a standard half ice half soda here? The idea is to get just enough ice to keep the drink ice cold without sacrificing too much volume for the actual beverage. Am I really the odd one here?

Hell no! I'm more like a quarter to fifth ice, even in the heat of the south. Although I'll drink it quickly.

So probably a quarter ice in the south, fifth up north?

It took me a long time to even try fast food again after working in a fast food restaurant.

At home as much as possible, especially during the hot summers
Coke I find quite sweet, ice helps its flavour, I often cut it with more water so I can just glup it down.

I'm on team Lohr it seems. Dispenser soda has thankfully been replaced by better alternatives.
