Very interested.. could this rival BeejNES?

1. Gascony
2. Sicily
3. Lotharingia

Credentials:

Have had some sucess so far as Austria in BirdNES 3, also during the early sixteenth century.

Did well in some other short-lived NESes, but not much besides that.

1. Italian Empire
2. Ardabalids
3. Kingdom of Sweden

Credentials
I'm still learning, but I find I do best with fix-up nations. Numerous short-lived NESes, with some experience as the Ottoman Empire in Six Months War 3, and the Kingdom of Sweden in YUINES 3, both countries in both NESes I had somewhat-extensive plans and goals for.

Will probably bombard you with questions.

Putting in my desires for:

1. Veliky Novgorod
2. Poland
3. England

Cred: ORBIS NON SUFFICIT

Also one of my majors is in History like that matters.

1.) Longphort League
2.) Kingdom of Denmark
3.) Kingdom of Sweden

Application:

- N3S – III (In isolation to a degree, built Leun domestically from scratch into a middling economic power)
- NEB1 (With constantly a third of the income of the top power, survived throughout the NES and thrived at my zenith at the end till Daft killed everyone off)
- SysNES (Managed to seize 3 planets in my system from the Gardeners when I originally had only claims to half of each, built the Soulons into the top industrial power, before (rather hilariously looking back), launching that eventful last war)
- DaftNES3 (Became the preeminent power in my respective cradle at the end, with arguably the largest sphere of influence in the NES)

  • Success in other NESes, notably ASNES, and to a degree, ABNW, which, despite the general opinion of those NESes, counts for something.
  • Basic knowledge of history, comparatively little however, to that of some, say a Dachs, Das, or yourself Perf. I do send a considerable amount of PMs.
  • Previous modding experience, though limited to a single rather short NES.
  • I have a cautious, and to a degree, very paranoid, play-style, if that counts for anything.
  • I enjoy, and have had success, building up entities domestically, and would enjoy trying to do so here with a small/middle power.
  • Been here for nearly 3 years.:)

I see Italy has much less money than Sicily, this is not only because of trade but perhaps also because of rampant factionalism keeping most of their money for provincial programs?

What can be expected for the Americas? Will they be similar to OTL or something new?

Yamato stats?
Were accidentally deleted, along with Korea. I'll redo them today or tomorrow.

I had forgotten how depressed I had been about the assassination of Germany in this TL. :p
:D

Is the role of the Begleiter in Schwaben broadly analogous to say, Mak hetairoi? Or am I reading way too much into the synonym?
Maybe vaguely similar, though they were a lot closer a couple of decades back. At this point they're basically mercenary captains who are kept on retainer when not on active duty, with the understanding that they keep a core of their veterans armed and paid. Everyone does that, to some extent, but the Swabians institutionalized it; they're consequently well known for being able to mobilize really fast. The begleiter tend to act as a sort of informal Council of State for the Military, as well.

When we're talking a million quid for a fort, are we saying modern trace italienne style fortifications or something older and significantly prettier? (In general. Obviously, cost of fortification varies from place to place.) And these fortifications must be explicitly manned in most cases, right?
Yeah, that's for a major trace italienne style fortification. Older forts will of course be rather cheaper. As to whether they have to be explicitly manned, I expect they will usually, but it depends. I suppose you could try to rely on nobles or civic militias or something to man them, but it's probably asking for trouble. Trace italienne's not yet been developed, incidentally, though a few smart engineers are working in that direction.

What's the Sicilian language like?
In Sicily and Egypt, it's more or less Italian with heavy Arabic influences. Kind of like OTL Sicilian, except much more so. In the Mediterranean at large it's more like lingua franca, except with extra Occitan and Greek admixtures. It's a godawful mess, in other words.

'll probably piss you off by asking you to many questions so I apologize in advance.
No worries, questions are good.

For what it's worth, I think Liyun is overpowered.
It shouldn't be. Liyun's practically at the end of its rope. Nearly every country can, if push comes to shove, become temporarily quite a lot more powerful very quickly: England could probably, in the right circs, get a 5,000,000 tax grant without too much trouble, the Muwahhidun could call up fifty thousand levies, Sicily could take enormous, relatively cheap loans, etc. Liyun can do this to perhaps a lesser extent than anyone else in the NES; they have hardly any credit sources left, they can't easily squeeze much more taxation out, and their potential levies are relatively few and low quality. Plus their economy's not in great shape and not getting any better.

I see Italy has much less money than Sicily, this is not only because of trade but perhaps also because of rampant factionalism keeping most of their money for provincial programs?
Yep. Most of the money, at least from the richest parts of the empire, is raised and spent by the municipalities and never gets to the Emperor. This sort of thing explains of lot of the various disparities in income: it's why Gascony and Swabia are richer than Lotharingia, why Bohemia's on a level with Poland, why the Order's so poor, etc.

What can be expected for the Americas? Will they be similar to OTL or something new?
I haven't decided yet. I don't know that it matters that much, since anything in the Americas will pretty much die from smallpox as soon as any players discover them.

2. Khanate of Delhi
3. Chobanid Empire

-Dude I was totally the Golden Horde in that NES TNeSII or something and we totally went to war. It was craaazy.

* Able to discuss the role of the pike versus the arquebus in Renaissance warfare

* Able to quote poetry on command regarding the fall of Kaifeng

* Able and willing to discuss certain plausibility issues regarding your Chinese AH f(Guangzhou should properly be called Nanyue, the name for the region at the time; Haishu is more accurately described as the Wu Kingdom or the <<insert appropriate dynastic name here, based on either an auspicious word or the region the rulers are from>>)

Eh? "Guang Prefecture" or Guangzhou was created thirteen centuries prior to the start date of this NES and while colloquially the region may have been referred to as Nanyue and "Republic of Guang Prefecture" is kind of awkward, it's certainly a valid name for an official title, especially when you consider the capital port and presumably the center of merchant and political power is also named Guangzhou. Personally though, I prefer Panyu, if only because that was the name of the street I lived next to when I was in China. :3

I jumped:

Republic of Guangzhau
Longphort League
Frisia

In no particular order.

1. Sweden
2. Denmark
3. Italy

Credentials:
I've been NESing since October 2009 with my first NES being Bombnes III, I am decently educated in history. I'm more of a colonizer/empire builder rather then a war monger, and.. that's all I guess.. =\
