they have to like you. And you have to be weak and backwards.
In other words, if the AI is giving away techs to you, it's NOT a good sign.they have to like you. And you have to be weak and backwards.

Auto spread of religions originates from the holy city and it will spread through trade routes. A shrine will enhance the holy city's auto spread potential. Missionaries are a different matter: they don't necessarily need trade routes (you can send them out into the wilderness).
Just some game mechanic question..
Currently playing deity game (so no wonder I'm behind most of AI in techs) and till 300 BC I have got 3 free techs (Iron Working 1st, forgot 2 others), all from Zara (not neighbour, he is on pleased but we don't share religion). So now I'm just confused what makes AI to give techs for free? Its about land area, power ratio, techs situation (other civ with same tech lead don't give any tech even with same pleased attitude), diplo or whatever?
Yes. That's a better way to explain it.Trade route is not the right word/concept for it. It's called connectivity of the world; something like a potential trade route without being actually one.
Roads as soon as you can build them. Rivers as soon as either civ has Sailing. Coast line with Sailing. And all coastal cities with Astronomy. (You can test this out by rolling up an isolated start, founding a few religions and then getting Astro. Your religions will spread to civs you don't even know yet. Similarily, if you have an isolated start without any religions you will get like 4-5 pretty fast after you research Astro, without ever having seen the holy cities.) OB is even better, though. What "connectivity" are you speaking of? Roads? Rivers? Being close borders?
And is it possible to auto spread religion across coast and/or land mass separated by 1 tile-ocean?
Folks, can we please stick newbie questions and their answers?
If I'm running CreCon instead of Mining, and then I also found Aluminum Co, will the converted coal add to my aluminum bonus for CreCon?
