Quot Capita

Good job doing your mod :D. It is starting ot be my second favo mod :D.

Don't worry, I'm working hard so this one becomes your number 1 favorite! (unless you're are talking about FfH2 of course, in which case I yield;) )

This one's a bit earlier than planned, but I couldn't stand a buggy main release to be the only one available for download.
As a kind of compensation I bundled 4 new wonders from you, stripped (and a bit reworked) from tsentom1's excellent Thomas' War!

v5.1 changelog:

- crash when loading the mod (mostly under XP) corrected by merging Next War modules
- corrected Modern Infantry text (was Marines previously)
- UNIT_ARTSTYLE_GREMAN corrected for Trench Infantry (thx tgvulcan!)
- Bomber's bombing actions restored (thx Martin79!)
- Russian Jet Fighter graphics corrected (thx Nemesys!)
- added Lubyanka(KGB) Wonder (tsentom1)
- added Himeji Samurai Castle Wonder (tsentom1)
- added the Terracotta Army Wonder (tsentom1)
- added the Ishtar Gate Wonder (tsentom1)

Nice work, it's running well! Did you add more unique unit flavors? I am playing as greece and the phalanxes, swordsmen and archers look really cool and unique. But it might be because I almost never play as greece and haven't seen them before. I play AGAINST Greece plenty, though :)

One more thing, did Barb Axemen get a boost? They are holding their own and even in some cases wiping the floor with fortified Phalanxes. Might just be my imagination though. Thank you again for your excellent work!

Can I suggest also adding Baths wonder from tsendom that grants Fresh Water? It shouldn't affect the game that much and I've always hated it when a city on an island or behind a mountain range/group of hills can never be properly irrigated.

hey avian - i just installed QC for the first time at version 5.0. Do I just run the installer for 5.1 straight-up or do I need to delete the old files first

@riddleofsteel: the Greeks are courtesy of Bakuel! And nope, barbs didn't get a boost...

@xchen08: yep, it's a nice wonder too, and it also adds +1 pop to new cities -> this is why I'm still contemplating if it's overpowered or not. ( But otherwise I like it, too )

@lymond: you can uninstall it prevously, or just try to install over - it will remove the old version anyway!

Maybe just take that part out and make it a national wonder. In Civ 4, new cities starting larger isn't really that useful, since unlike in Alpha Centauri, you can't prebuild improvements before settling, so I've always built the thing pretty much solely for the water. It is unbelievably annoying to see an excellent city site with 2 wheat when you realize that due to the lay of the land, it is outright impossible to ever irrigate them.

:D

You are indeed doing a great job.

Rise of Mankind is my favorite one but QC is very close second because both of them build more techs and units to be more historically correct.

I understand that some people are leery of RoM because of its size but that is their problem, not mine.

:goodjob: and downloading your latest version now!

Is QC supposed to work with hotseat? I could do it with older versions but the newest one gives me a CTD when I try to start a hot seat game.

Brilliant mod - I'm having lots of fun playing this :goodjob:

Finally got the mod working! It's great, but I'd like to play it on an earth map with 24 - 35 civs. Can anyone give me tips on how to go about doing this? Or maybe can you update Quot Capita with a map similar to my request? I know a lot of people would be happy!

I too would love a massive Earth map for Quot Capita. Got a big shiny new PC on the way and need something to 'test' it with :mischief:

Here is a map I've been playing a lot of for Quot Capita.

There are three primary continents.

One is dominated by an inland sea and contains four classic empires; Greek, Rome, Carthage and Egype.

The other is Korea, China, The Mongals and Japan. The Koreans and Chinese start with plenty of room to expand to the north, but be careful or be consumed by the southern conquerers.

There is also a "New World" to be explored.

For fun, I've added Ragnar the Viking to a small northern island for trading/raiding. King fo the Barbarians.

You may enjoy the map.
I play on Noble/Epic. I've not been able to truly beat this scenario, I've gone at it a few ways. I think it's fairly well balanced.

Nice, might try that in my next game. :)

What about including parts of Stone Age Mod 2.90 Final Version ?

@xchen08, achilleszero: I even thought about scrapping the +1 pop and instead giving all cities on the continent the fresh water status - would this be good or overpowered or whaddayathink?

@LegionSteve: thanks! If you have a good map, I could include it

@riddleofsteel: Hotseat: good question as I never tried a hotseat game myself. So you tell. I don't even know what would break "hotseatability"

@Lachlan: I'm following that mod closely, will see

Hi avain, I think it was an error on my end that broke hotseat. I'll let you know what I found out. I wanted to ask you, is it possible for me to put varietas delectat into Rise of Mankind somehow? Or is it far more complicated?

I know there are more Civilizations in RoM, but would the shared Civilizations between the two at least get the unique art? Thanks.

It's of course possible, but I'd wager that it would require (quite) some work.

That would be cool. It would be more original than it is now. AS it is now it is kind of like an uber Hanging Gardens. And I personally perfer wonders to have more unique abilties.

I would build it everytime if it had +1 pop for every new city. An early wonder that does that just seems to good, giving you many turn advantages.

I feel that would be kind of overpowered, in the sense that grabbing it can change your playing strategy the way the Pyramids can but most Wonders cannot. I normally try whenever possible to settle my cities so they can get fresh water, and have sometimes used creative chain irrigation to get irrigation to some cities, but if I can grab this wonder, all that goes away.
