Show us a picture in the Members thread and we can judge for ourselves. :)

I see one of the scratches while looking in the mirror, so pretty bad.

Today they remove all our phones at work as we switch over to a skype solution. (which hasn't worked at all in our other offices)

Just wait until you figure out that you cannot call anyone outside of your institution/company, unless it's activated ^^.

Own rant:
One of my manuscripts got returned to day. New record in getting something rejected after peer review, which only took 4 weeks in this case. Is at minimum 50% faster than my second fastest rejection after peer review (the one before review cannot really be broken, that was 30 minutes). I guess my provocative title managed to attract 4 people to read it within a short time frame. I'd still have wished that 3 of the 4 people had given some useful feedback.
Meh, another round.

I tested it before they removed my phone and it must be activated. On the positive side, most of the phone calls incoming to me are solicitations so if I miss some of those, I really don't care.

Fair play, that guy was all talk anyway.

I keenly remember you being exactly like this person just two weeks ago here on the ol Cee Eff Cee.

:smug:

Nowhere in any of that did I ever claim the Belgian government and the EU Parliament were the same political entity. Nor did I ever claim Belgium holds sovereign authority over the entire EU simply because the EU Parliament is loctated in Brussels.

So no, I was not exactly like that person two weeks ago. You would have seen that if you weren't so eager to have a "gotcha!" moment.

Dunno, your description of your inferior conversation partner seems to match up with your description of Brussels in matters of the EU.

I mentioned Brussels once in that entire post. And that was just in reference to the fact that the EU Parliament is located in Brussels. Again, I never claimed Belgium rules the EU or that the EU Parliament was an extension of the Belgian government.

How does this work? Do they just forbid the use of telephones?
Are these desk telephones? Cellphones issued by the company? Your own cellphones?

Prima facie, at least, it sounds silly.
It Passed
BBC said:
European Parliament backs copyright changes

Controversial new copyright laws have been approved by members of the European Parliament.

The legislation had been changed since July when the first version of the copyright directive was voted down. Critics say it remains problematic.

Many musicians and creators claim the reforms are necessary to fairly compensate artists.

But opponents fear that the plans could destroy user-generated content, memes and parodies.

Leaders of the EU's member states still need to sign off on the rule changes before the individual countries have to draft local laws to put them into effect.

The vote in Strasbourg was 438 in favour of the measures, 226 against and 39 abstentions.

Disgraceful.
Windows Update broke my audio driver.
This is the second time I have to tell you to uninstall Windows this same week.

VoIP is all the craze these days.

The alternative is Mac. Unacceptable.

If it is unacceptable it is not an alternative.

So I spent the bulk of the afternoon in a local politics strategy meeting at Starbucks, where I get free refills on my iced tea. That seems like a rave, except I am now so heavily caffeinated that I could possibly burst into flames.

Since when did iced tea have caffeine?

Tea has caffeine in it.

Also, it's Starbucks tea, in Unitedstatesia.

Not all tea has caffeine in it.

As I understand it, drinking in Unitedstatesia is synonymous with intoxication, whether with alcohol, caffeine, or both.

I hope for all your sakes that no-one in your office will ever need to dial 911.

(Every time I log in, my Skype installation reminds me, "Skype cannot be used to make emergency calls")...
