*sigh* I'm having a problem with YouTube on my SmartTV, I can't play videos any more for some reason. I don't know what's going on, it was working fine for me up until about a week ago, and suddenly videos just won't play. I'm not having any problems with any of my other apps, like I can still watch Netflix and HBO and such, and I can search and find videos and my subscribed channels on YouTube, it's just when I try to play something I get an error that videos can't be played, and I just don't know what's going on. I don't know what I'm supposed to do, I'm feeling quite upset since I really like watching music video channels in my office while I work, and this is just making me feel very unhappy and frustrated right now.

I think (and hope) that it'll just be a correction. However, given the failure of the international community to really deal with the root causes of the great recession, I would not be surprised if we have another full-blown recession.

I mean, you talk to a segment of politically active Americans online. Most people just don't care that much which is a major part of the problem. I think you are far more likely to find that most Americans care more about what Kanye and Kim are up to rather than our racist politicians.

I don't know your specific model but YouTube has been ending support for their app on SmartTV's. My 6 year old TV stopped working with YouTube about a year ago though the app did warn me at least that it was going to stop working. That may be what has happened with you. You can get an HDMI dongle of various brands that should allow you to stream youtube. That or you may be able to broadcast your phone's YouTube stream to your TV. There should be a little icon that pops up in the right corner of your YouTube app on your phone that will allow you to stream to your TV if your TV supports it.

I don't think they inform you if they deny your application to vote by mail here. It's 8 days before the "we need to have your ballot in our hands" deadline for mailed votes and I still don't have anything. Guess I'm not voting? Pretty cool how they can just arbitrarily deny your ability to vote.

I'm so sorry @Synsensa, that must be just terrible. I know someone who lives in Alberta, and she's also had problems with her support for voting by mail

Well I fixed my TV! I found some instructions on google, and it looks like all I needed is to go into my Apps settings and find YouTube and "reinstall", and now I'm able to watch videos again!

I'm sorry about my Rave, but it was connected to my Rant ... well to rant again, don't you just hate it when people post Raves in the Rants thread?

You're probably thinking about when Google Reader shut down. It was a nice, Google-supported, web-based RSS reader. The non-Google ecosystem of RSS readers really benefited from its shutdown with all the users flocking to other products. I switched to Feedly then (which is usable as both a cloud-based subscription to RSS feeds, and as a client, but various third-party clients also have feedly support - think of the difference between, say, gmail the email service, gmail the webmail client, and Thunderbird connected to gmail via IMAP), but there are various other non-feedly services, both cloud-based and local.

I know I am registered to vote. They make you apply to vote by mail, however. I did put in a contact request. Nothing yet.

I hate how much water I need to not be dehydrated/cramp up in general, like 5 bottles a day, easily. I've consumed 4 already by 2pm and it's made me a nonstop pissing machine today.

It sounds like diabetes. Don't get scared or anything, but do mention it to your GP when you have a checkup.

Doesn't really matter. The EU was a significant, but not really competitive economic unit when it included the entire UK. Reducing that to Scotland leaves them almost as far below significance as they are without them. And the thing that really made the EU significant in the world was the projection of the 'unity is possible' image. That could have been the foundation for the kind of world spanning coalition building that could actually threaten the US. Now they are just a collection of podunk states crying over lost glories, and asking why everyone pays attention to every little thing that goes on in the US but doesn't care what color panties Angela Merkle favors.

Jesus how come nobody I know even drinks close to this much? Everyone I work with and am friends with comments on my water consumption. I'll end up drinking like 6-8 bottles today. Do I secretly live among people who no longer need water?

I think I got once to 6 liters, and that was in a damn hot summer.

I guess the advice to let you get checked for diabetes is probably not the worst advice.
