Curious. How would you phrase it?
Sorry, I'm not sure I understand the question. Do you mean, how would I characterize Cornyn's comments (besides 'racist, ignorant and almost completely incorrect')?

Swine flu started in Mexico. MERS started in the Middle East (first two letters in the name).
Right. It's right there in the name, you tool. Maybe he thinks China is in the Middle East? And of course swine flu first appeared in the United States, where we eat our share of pork. (Just to be clear: no, I don't think one gets any of these diseases from eating the meat of the animals in question - I'm just saying that Cornyn cited Swine Flu in his litany of idiocy, when he is an elected representative of a country that has a lot of pigs.)

Specialists are being pressed into ER service, yeah. That isn't totally unusual (you'll see it after big accidents) but it's definitely more excessive right now. So just keep in mind that if you need to be intubated now, it might be getting done by a gynecologist. :smug:

Also, psychiatrists go through med school. They get the same base education as any other doctor. They also have to go through residency.
I actually knew this but I wanted @Lemon Merchant to share her story of getting 'drafted' and what it's been like. :smug: :smug:

For severe joint or muscle pain you should diclofenac, that works better.

How hard is it on the digestive system, though?

I'm going to guess the new naming conventions have him confused about the older diseases using the older naming conventions too. Wasn't that the point of the new naming conventions? To confuse everyone about origins? It's like the explicitly stated goal.

I don't know about elsewhere in the world, but in the UK although you may work in a particular area, e.g. elderly care, as long as you're suitably qualified you can pick 'bank shifts' (extra shifts to top up the wage) in any area you like.

As you say - they've all been through the same base training - which presumably covers most of ER (A&E here) work?

mmhh... not? I haven't had any issues with it, and not aware that it could cause any, but I also didn't read up about it.
You can also get creams and sprays with Diclofenac, and that should easen any possible symptoms,

I checked on Wikipedia and a contradiction are those with GI bleeds/inflammatory bowel disease, which indicates that it's probably not great for the digestive system. :(

Canada rules are different on many things. But I've never seen any of the brand names, or even heard of it, here. And Wiki indicates it's by prescription.

Although I have been told that other NSAID type pain relievers are better than acetaminophen for joint and muscle pains. Generic names ibuprofen and naproxen sodium.

NSAIDs can cause flareups of diverticulitis, which is why I was taking acetaminophen in the first place.

For whatever reason, Prime Video is only allowing me to watch the 4K UHD version of Man in the High Castle. Neither my laptop nor internet can handle this.

Amazon's video scheme is totally screwed up, there will be a clickable series to watch but it's ONLY season 3 or something, and it won't let you select seasons. You have to go back into the search area and find season 1 on your own - there's possibly this same effect playing out for 4k - the clickable selection probably says 4k UHD on it and you have to find one that doesn't.

Omg yes this is awful

And it still includes seasons you've watched in your Watch Next

I hate, hate, HATE the Prime video player and the layout. I am bewildered by just how terrible it is. Amazon has so much technical expertise at its grasp and it just... did so badly at this. Horrifying experience from beginning to end. But there's unfortunately a lot of good content on there now. :(

Unfortunately, the only MitHC are the three seasons, all marked as 4K UHD.

I got around it by forcing my video quality to the lowest setting. But I gotta tell ya... compressed 4K UHD looks like garbage. The highest quality is beautiful if you can handle it, but once you start downscaling and compressing it gets dire real fast. Plain and simple SD, or compressing from 720p, is a lot more serviceable.

That's charitable in a backhanded way. I on the other hand give John Cornyn the credit of not believing he was confused in the least. He knows that his reelection campaign is desperately reliant on the bigot vote, and he's willing to pander. Pandemic panic gives him some cover because there's less backlash when your bigotry is couched in virus terms.

That's weird, I generally have no problem with seasons and Prime Video.

It's literally the goal. If it's not working on Cornyn, Cornyn thinks it's working on his listeners. "Mission Accomplished" I think it goes. And the bigot vote is waaaay bigger than implied in that post.

Since Farm Boy isn't using quotes I can only assume he has almost everyone blocked and thinks his posts are coming immediately after the ones he's responding to.

Johanna's #951 snuck in while I was typing. I rely on your good judgement in sorting out it was a reply to Tim. If not, feel free to ignore me, Syn.

My list is pretty short, but it's not polite to talk about so lets move on.

Usually I get a little notification at the bottom if a new post appears while I'm typing one, does that not happen for you?

Sometimes, not always.

This went from 0 to 100 real fast.

I try not to use the ignore feature. It disrupts everything and basically forces you to manually open posts just to keep your finger on the pulse of a conversation. If there's someone who's involved in most threads and you block them, you'll be reading one-sided conversations almost all the time that just sound strange since you can't see what they're responding to. I tried it, couldn't handle it.

I don't use the ignore feature I'm too lazy to.

Tim might love trolling through assbags on stormfront and the like, I do not. Never used it without at least 6 months of interaction to prove me my opinion isn't rash.

I don't really love it, I just consider it a grim necessity. If you wait for the nonsense to breach out of the echo chamber before you start fighting it you're handicapping yourself.

Meanwhile...I agree that the bigot vote is disconcertingly large. That's why Cornyn really has no choice but to pander for it. I'm just glad we have progressed to the point where he feels compelled to be a bit subtle about it. When I was a political neophyte there were no backlash voters to consider. Nixon could just outright alienate the 10% black vote to grab the 40% bigot vote and then compete on equal terms for the 50% "not a bigot but don't mind them" vote.
