Random Rants 0x52: [Obligatory rant about title]

I remember looking for Pokemon fanart on DeviantArt. For some reason, I always managed to find the weird fetish ones where they...uh, "inflated" the Pokemon. :cringe:

The Timmies near me has a bookcase with coffee bags and tumblers. The shelves have labels. They are poorly capitalized and just generally are woefully put together.

Worst, however, is their proud advertisement of the fact they sell "dark roask Coffee."

This will sound like a humble brag but I absolutely despise doing good things and being acknowledged for them. I'm so comfortable with and insistent on hating myself, all the while maintaining the idea (no matter how warped) that this is logically consistent and empirical. That I can objectively prove I lack value, that I'm unreliable, and that I shouldn't be turned to. So whenever I do something Good™ I inevitably get pissed at myself for daring to do such a thing. But that's stupid. I should like doing good things. And indeed I strive to do good things. But then when I do those things, I just wield it as another means of despising myself.
No matter what you do I still think you're a huge ass. :grouphug:

your post reminds me
of an attempt at a haiku
TIL I am Polish

Attempt indeed. How many syllables in the 2nd line again? ;)

The third line's also only correct if you say "TIL" as a single syllable and not 3 letters.

(I'm not actually sure which one you're supposed to do, I've always read it as "T. I. L." not "till")

it is uncertain
that I can really do a haiku
sumimasen

That's 5-9-4, that's even more wrong!

for such a mistake
one has to apologise
one does what one can

I've learned that the AO3/Tumblr/FF/DeviantArt spaces are difficult to gain attention on unless you fit a very specific behaviour type. If you don't exhibit "in" behaviour, you'll lack visibility and attention. People may appreciate what you do for them, they may come to rely on you, but you'll never be "one of them," and their gushing attention will always be reserved for those who are a part of the inner circle and nobody else.
I noticed this when I went on a Borgias binge-read earlier this year on AO3. There's one author there who specializes in modern-era Borgia stories, and after the third one, I realized that they're formulaic like a Harlequin romance. Some of the sentences could have been copy/pasted from story to story, and the comments on some of them were like this was high literature.

It was mental junk food which was okay at the time, but I wouldn't praise it like the "usual gang" did.

But there was one story there that was more unusual, very good as far as it went... and the author just stopped, without explanation. She did other stories after that, so it's not like she dropped out of writing. Some people are angry, and I don't blame them. It's understandable to lose interest or inspiration for a story, but after a couple of dozen chapters and an established audience, it's really not cool to stop without saying something like "sorry, I'm not feeling the muse anymore with this one, thanks for your support."

TIL I am Polish

Really ? Did You put on Your socks, Your sandals and walked down to shop with a bag from biedronka to buy some vodka and pickles ? :D

Rant: people not being active in the Mafia game.

Post this in the relevant thread and you will definitely get lynched mate :)
Plus, iirc we have a triple tie right now Mr Whinie

Typically, you generate interest in a Mafia game by raising hell.

(Or, if you're me, by "pretending" that polyhedral dice exist and getting lynched for it.)

I know I'm late to the party but RL got in the way...

I find the thread title highly derivative and pedantic. One easily grasps the nuance where there should be some complexity. Completely without panache, it lacks style as well.

I actually purchase raw vegetables wholesale and preserve them with my own home-researched mixture of water, vinegar, sugar and salt.

I also boil cabbage.

During your research did you discover some little known feature that makes the first water in the list different from the water at the end of the list?

I am an excellent thread title-writer :smug:

Thanks for spotting the mistake. I was tallying votes and things got… out of hand.
Now I am 100% convinced You're Polish !
Yes! You see, the more you boil it and it stinks then the more of the bad parts that are evaporated. The resulting material can be used for all sorts of edible foodstuffs.

My research on this has led me to believe hope that other brassicæ can be made edible.
