Random Rants 80: Computer Says No

Small rant: I missed out on a well-paying survey because I had to go use the bathroom.

Computer arrived. And it's video card is output is DVI-D. meaning my DVI to VGA connector needed for my Monitor will not fit. And since i cheaped out on the monitor to save some 30-40 bucks at the time and got the one without a DVI port. I now have an awesome computer with no monitor.

Governments all over the US are rushing headlong into various vaping bans on effectively no evidence. A handful of people have died but uh.....thousands die every year from smoking and drinking and we aren't banning those things.

All spare HDMI cables are currently in hiding and will not appear until after a new monitor has arrived. Then they will phase back into reality and i'll find like 5 of them.

I'm told the deaths were due to someone started adding vitamin e oil to cannabis vape liquid which caused it to burn much hotter and damage lung tissue. Can't vouch for it though.

I've heard of vaping, but I don't really understand it ... would one of you please kindly explain to me what exactly it is, and why people don't like it?

I thought it was some sort of water-based electronic thing to help you quit smoking?

It's kind of like an electric cigarette. I think it gives you the nicotine but without all the nasty smoke and stuff. I may be remembering wrong.

Good for you! I'm glad you've gotten out of that habit, and I hope it continues to go well for you

I don't want to sound offensive or anything, but I personally find tobacco to be quite gross.

I read somewhere that if you stay quit long enough, you get most of your pre-smoking health back.

Quitting smoking tobacco is a no-brainer. Other nicotine products aren't always as easy to motivate oneself to quit, due to the fewer health risks involved. Still, it's not great for you.
