Wearing socks is your first mistake ... they suck.
It is possible that you have simply not been wearing enough pairs of socks. They stack, you know.

What can be an alternative for men ? You've got Your stockings kind of socks , which are still socks but not a socks socks ;) Should I secretly wear stockings socks ? :O Not that I secretly don't want to :mischief:

For some reason, on my first trip, Delta screwed up my known traveler status, and the TSA treated me like some common criminal ... I had to take off my shoes, pull everything out of my bag, and all that other nonsense. I got it fixed for my return flight, but I was stressed for days after my ordeal on Wednesday.
Welcome to the way they treat everyone at the court house here. I was using canes at the time (shudder to think how they'd have treated my walker), and informed them that I had balance problems, and they'd better fetch a chair for me before I let go of anything and crossed through the metal detector.

Soda-wise, Coca-Cola is acceptable
There are several flavors of diet Coke that are quite good. You get a choice of blueberry (my favorite), strawberry, cherry, or blood orange. I can't vouch for blood orange's taste, since I avoid even synthetic orange flavor. They do have caffeine.

Have You guys people tried peach coke ? I think it's amazing ! Better than cherry or any other for that matter, much much better mmmmm :yumyum:

@Synsensa How do You manage to control Your soda intake ? I'm cocacolaholic sad to say . I realize that I am just putting a spoonful of sugar in my mouth with each bottle but I can't resist .... :( It's soooo delicious !

I didn't know they had peach coke. I've had raspberry, though. It was tasty.

Dunno about Synsensa, but my pop intake is now restricted to the diet varieties. I can't believe that I have actually learned to not mind the taste of diet Pepsi (it's disgusting until you get used to it, and no, artificial sweeteners do not taste anything like the real stuff).

I really wish everyone would stop asking me what I'm going to do for Thanksgiving (it's next weekend in Canada). I can't have my favorite stuff anymore, so I'll probably just treat it like any other weekend (30 years ago I used to spend Thanksgiving weekends at science fiction conventions).

As for resisting: Ask yourself if the sugar now is worth spending a fortune on insulin later.

You got that right . I sometimes try to fool my addiction with diet too but it doesn't have that special something .....

Yup... and besides contracting diabetes my teeth will rot away so I'll have to spend yet another fortune on a dentist. You know it is amazing how healthy teeth being resistant basically everything up to a diamond cutter but are so weak and fragile to sugar ....

Anyway I think I need some :help: because even though I know the dangers of prolonged soda intake I still partake - it's one of a telltale signs of addiction.

Just remember: "A moment on the lips, forever on the hips."

Also, pop is poison. It rots your teeth and fills your body with gross chemicals. I got off of pop a long time ago by just switching to water ... which tastes better and hydrates you more properly too. Once you get used to drinking water for a while, I think you'll start to find pop to taste rather disgusting.

Water tasting better than pop is the hottest of takes.

@AdamCrock: Mostly, weight loss. I've always used soda to pad my calories. So in any weight loss pursuit, cutting out soda is the biggest impact for me. Whenever I'm not binge-eating my food intake averages out around 1200 calories a day but then I would usually be drinking 700+ calories of soda. Nowadays I limit myself to 500 ml of soda per day (usually ends up being just under 300 calories). I can have other calorie/sugar-rich drinks, just not soda beyond that number.

I've been trying Zevia sodas to circumvent that limit. They are... not good. I wish they'd sell sucralose-sweetened water here. Kroger in the US sells this awesome zero-cal/zero-sugar sparkling water that is peach flavoured. Nothing like it here. Closest is Sparkling Ice, but that stuff tastes like a bullet to the brain and is hella expensive.

Woke up at 4am drenched in sweat and thinking I was going to have a heart attack. Turns out I just needed to puke....and then puke again an hour later when all that was left in me was stomach acid. Feel fine now though.

I'm so sorry you had such a rough night, I'm glad you're feeling better now though :(

Sounds bad but... at least it means a sharp drop in weight?

(I hate puking)

Wouldn't most of the vomit be composed of water? So once he drank some more fluid the weight would just come back.

Most of my soda is diet Big 8. It's less sweet than diet Pepsi, cheaper, and local.

Well, water is a significant part of it, certainly. Yet one has to suppose that the water there is only used to throw the more solid stuff out. Usually that means most of one's recent meal, going by (painful) experience :)

Tap water FTW, there's far less awful chemicals (as Mary put it) for one's digestive system to struggle with.

I don't know, RL has a mod enabled (codename PLUVIA) that makes hydrogen hydroxide appear every now and then and it's awful.
