Okay, your taste buds are definitely weird. The only time blueberries are sour is if they're not ripe. They are definitely a sweet fruit.

Would "tarty" be a good way to describe it? My tastebuds are perfect btw and everybody else's are messed up :scan:

If you ever write a book about your travels (and you definitely should), the Vietnam chapter should be titled "Ode to Pho."

I have actually been working on a pho website for a while now.. although I sort of have put it aside for now. I have a domain and it will eventually go up. I have also considered writing some books inspired by my travels, but so far my ideas would be fiction and not non-fiction. So basically stories that take place where I have travelled to in the past, to some degree.

One day I wouldn't mind having some sort of a thing to leave behind for relatives to see, so they could relive my travels if they wanted to. I have all my travels written out on this forum, so that's a decent start. Maybe one day I'll strike it rich and hire an editor and/or ghost writer to process all of that and turn into into something a bit more presentable. Knowing myself it would take me decades to do this work. I'd get started and then distracted.

How can Nanaimo bars be confused with cheesecake? Cheesecake doesn't have a solid chocolate layer on top.

When I first saw them and picked one up to try, I thought that the white/yellowish layer was cheesecake-like.

Are you trying to make me upchuck?

Basically exactly my point :) That's what your description did to me, so I tried to one-up it a bit, for fun's sake

Fixed that for you. :p

Honestly, blueberries are sweet. If you want a tart kind of fruit, cranberries are the perfect example. Even when perfectly ripe, they're tart. Crabapples are also tart, unless they're still on the tree when first frost happens. Then they become much sweeter. Of course by this time the ones on the ground have started to ferment, and sooner or later the rest will as well. Then you have the spectacle of squirrels, moose, and deer frolicking around because they're drunk from eating the fermented crabapples.

Both Synsensa and I are experienced writers and editors... and I know someone in BC who did something similar based on his time teaching English in Japan.

Basically exactly my point :) That's what your description did to me, so I tried to one-up it a bit, for fun's sake
Just do a Google image search for "jello salad." Especially the green (lime) flavored ones. There's actually a recipe that tells you to just throw your leftovers into a batch of jello. Some of the pictures have fruit in them - apples, strawberries, pineapple, etc. There's one with cabbage in it.

It's enough to make one want to invent a time machine for the purpose of preventing the discovery of jello.

You can block YT ads, y'know...
Indeedily doodily. In this case, however, I was logged out of my account because I didn’t want YT to record it in my history and thus give me recommendations based on the video’s contents. :)

HOWEVER, one day my boss (years ago now) took me to a restaurant to celebrate the conclusion to a project at work. He got us both apple pie for desert. I was too polite to speak up. BUT it was a mexican restaurant and the apple pie was deepfried somehow, with icecream, and caramel on top. It was amazing. Ever since then I've been more open to apple pies - although I will not seek them out.
Hot apple pie with a slice of cheddar cheese on top is excellent.

You should talk to @Synsensa He could probably help you get started and for not much create a template for your travels/stories. He is pretty smart about those things. If he balks, ignore it and keep pushing. :)

Goddamn France :gripe:.
I got mail from the tax office. Well, not me, but someone who shares my last name and the first letter of my first name (and not the gender).
They want a tax from me, which the internet says I should be exempt from.
They also want the French TV tax, despite that I don't own a TV.
The whole thing amounts to 40% of a monthly net salary.
Great, now I need to discuss with the French tax office. That'll be great .

they caught you and lock you up like IRS did to Al Capone ? Some woman's phone bill would be always left on our door , only because the single thing that matched was the door number ... ı took the envelope a couple of times to its proper destination like 4 streets away ...

Delivery dry cleaning or maid service?

I have neither.

Not sure if maid service is right, but then again I've spent too long on the Internet.

These ladies come hoover, mop and generally clean the flats for me.

A bit worried about my dog. He's been successfully escalating his begging offensive against weaker-willed members of the family and is getting too many treats for his own good.
