Without the cheese, fruit sounds quite tasty on a pizza

I have tried it in combination. There was one occasion when we decided to make pizza and then discovered we were out of pineapple. I do prefer some sort of fruit/veg on my pizza and back then pineapple was my go-to (I've since switched to tomatoes). But at that time, all we had that didn't need a lot of time to drain was mandarin oranges.

So I put oranges on the pizza, sprinkled Parmesan cheese over it, added the other toppings (sausage, mushrooms, and shrimp), and baked it.

It turned out really well.

there can be times when you really want to scream at somebody for starting the dozenth thread about pizza toppings, or revive an old argument that should have been settled a decade ago.
Before proceeding to read the rest of your conversation I already knew that somebody would start again with this delusion about putting pineapple on pizza as soon as I read this.

Well, tomato is a fruit.

The idea was to give @Varde the benefit of a classic CFCOT experience: The pineapple-on-pizza argument. :yup:

Hawaiian pizza was my favorite for many years, so much so that I could barely fathom why anyone would put anything else on pizza.

I think it may have been a matter of taste buds changing their mind as to what a pleasing combination of toppings consists of. I find that I prefer more savory flavors now (the exception being bacon; there's a pizza chain here that puts bacon on everything - there are several different kinds of breadsticks and every last one of them has bacon on or in them).

Which would be an argument if putting pineapple on pizza were a valid premise.

Paging Dr. @warpus.

Non-tomato fruit do not go on pizza

Allergies hitting me like a ton of bricks, driving me to the brink of insanity. What’s worse, I’m at work. I just want to stay in bed, forever.

Pizza with multiple kinds of bacon can be a beautiful thing... but it is possible to overdo it! There is a place in town that shreds their bacon and keeps it in the oven a bit longer and that tastes amazing too.. I haven't ordered from them in years, maybe I should...

You olive-hating criminal.

Right, olives are fine on pizza, I forgot those were fruit.

And come to think of it, so are peppers, which are also an acceptable pizza topping.

You think Kiwi would be swell on a pizza with perhaps ham?
It might, if it was well-drained. Otherwise the crust would get soggy. It seems like an awful lot of work, though, since the kiwi would need to be sliced and peeled, then drained to get the excess moisture out.

It would look really cool, though. One of the things my grandmother used to say about the pizzas I made was that I didn't just throw the toppings on in any random way. Everything was done according to a pattern, or design. I looked on it as not only food, but artistic food that had to be visually appealing as well as tasting good.
