Dogs are good for babies. They should keep both of them.

If the you have a choice and the dog already has medical issues pass. My sister-in-law did about the same and has sunk over 5k into the dog, and it is still screwed up.

It's not a breeder. It's a couple that is looking to get rid of the dog because they are having a baby. Which is kind of a crappy thing to do to a dog in my opinion, but that's a different discussion.

It's beyond a crappy thing to do. Getting rid of dog because baby means finding the dog a good home among people you can vouch for, not profiteering $500 bucks to hand it off to strangers. Screw them. There are much better ways to get a dog.

Back in the stone age, when my daughter was born, we were worried about how our cat would react. We couldn't let her go. (SINCE THAT WOULD BE A DICK MOVE) but within a week, the cat became her second mother and watched over her throughout her infancy.

40k Rant: I would really like to start an Adeptus Mechanicus army to go with my Imperial Guard army, but their vehicle designs really put me off. Their infantry look great, but their vehicles just look like absolute butthole to me. They also don't seem to really fit with the general aesthetic of both the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Imperium in general.

I could just go all infantry with the AdMech army, but what's the fun in that?

For reference, here's what their fugly tanks look like:

That's the ugliest thing I've seen.

I've been pondering the issue of adopting another cat for nearly 3 years, since Chloe died. There is no way I would ever go to a breeder, or to anyone who wants an insane amount of money.

I get that people want to ensure that someone responsible will adopt the cat, as there are some horrific things that have happened to free cats (since they didn't cost anything, no money would have been lost by beating them to death, or abusing them in other ways, right?).

There are some who think that if you can't afford $$$ to buy a pet, you also can't afford to care for them properly. That's not true. I got both Chloe and Maddy for free, but I've paid $$$$$ for them over the years, for vet exams, shots, medication, food, litter, beds, toys, collars and ID tags, pet deposits at the various places I've lived for the past 10+ years, and (in Chloe's case) euthanasia & cremation. If I had to choose between feeding me or the cat, Maddy comes first.

I'd rather adopt a cat who needs a home due to being homeless or unwanted, instead of one from a breeder who may or may not be legitimate and there's no guarantee that there's no inbreeding going on. In both Chloe and Maddy's cases, they wouldn't have fared that well at the SPCA. Chloe was already an adult cat (only a year or so, but most people still prefer kittens), and Maddy is black (a heartbreaking number of black cats don't get adopted from shelters due to ridiculous superstitious beliefs that they're bad luck, aggressive, or not affectionate).

In addition to a new baby, there's another common reason for putting a cat up for adoption. I'm always suspicious of any ad where the cat is 5 or 6 months old. The usual reason for the adoption offer is because the owner doesn't want to pay for spaying/neutering.

It's like they smashed a turret on top of a tractor engine smached into tge body of an A7V sitting on top of a hovercraft. Something like that.

And that's kinda how all their vehicles look, just these ugly, boxy abominations. I'm sure if they really tried, GW could have come up with something else that would still be unique to the AdMech while still keeping with the general "WW1/WW2 sci-fi" style that the rest of the Imperium's forces have.

Or don't give them tanks at all. They have a bunch of walker/large robot models that are still pretty ugly, but look a hell of a lot better than the tanks and generally fill the same battlefield role.

I think it looks good.

It's posts like this that make the case for a dislike button...

:p

I see that the picture was resized to be bigger than its original resolution. And compression artifacts too. :vomit:

I couldn't find a rescue center in Red Deer. I was more lucky in Edmonton, 1 1/2 hours away by bus. :undecide:

I'm still in the thinking stage of getting a cat for me. We have no shelters. I've found a place to pre-order cat litter, but we'd have to build our own litter boxes. We've neither scratching posts nor hemp. I'd line my cat trees with canvas, one tree in my bedroom, one in the TV room, both with great views with the bird-filled outdoors. (S)he would strictly be an indoor cat :)

Yeah I don't understand the hate either, I can't see anything wrong with it.

I am being a little intentionally overdramatic regarding its ugliness. My main problem with their tanks is that they just don't fit in with the aesthetic style of the rest of the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Imperium in general. So they seem out of place with the rest of their models which is what makes them seem ugly to me.

Maybe, but I think Cardgame hit it pretty square...
It's a freaking brick. Nasty.
