I'm even more old-fashioned - I actually ring people to talk to them.

Searching for a quick way to reset all the applications in volume mixer.

Have I ever mentioned I hate answers.microsoft.com? :badcomp: Thankfully further down the page there was a batch script that did work.

At least they didn't suggest sfc scannow...
What I'd do is set it all to 0, or to 100, then it's just the master volume mixer.

What kind of horsecrap pricing scheme is this

Literally up to 900% of the lowest advertised

It's not alone either, it's literally impossible to shop by any sort of budget in this category

Facebook has entirely removed chronological sorting of the comments on group posts and this has resulted in a major decrease in quality and continuity. The new choices are Relevant (algorithm wizardry that is never right), Newest First (why?), and All (which is actually Relevant). Now I get to read threads related to my industry and not know which comments were made when unless I individually note every time stamp and build a timeline in my head.

Horrible change.

Pleased to report that Facebook read my CFC post and changed Newest First to Oldest First. All is well in the world once more.

Rant: discovered a leak through into the kitchen ceiling - water coming form somewhere in the bathroom above it. A night with no water or heating whilst we tried to work out what was causing it (and prevent it from getting worse)

Rave: Plumber located problem the following morning, replaced offending part and 'only' charged £80 (a hundred of your American dollars)

I did try dragging the master volume mixer to 0 and then back up, but they were still uneven. And dragging every single application down to 0 would take a while.

What worked was this batch file (run as admin):

Code:
@ECHO OFF

ECHO Reset Volume Mixer Settings...

NET STOP Audiosrv
NET STOP AudioEndpointBuilder

REG DELETE "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\LowRegistry\Audio\PolicyConfig\PropertyStore" /F
REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\LowRegistry\Audio\PolicyConfig\PropertyStore"

NET START Audiosrv

I quit several times a day, when I'm working. Apparently it's part of my charm.
Sounds more like a geas to me.
I really only use Facebook because everyone else uses it and I need some way of talking to people I know for things and I don't have any other social media.
I'm much of an Arakhor really:
I'm even more old-fashioned - I actually ring people to talk to them.
But there's also the special-case bonus that I've been living in the same city for some twenty years now, and so does everybody else, therefore walking down to somebody's place and ringing the doorbell to see if anybody's home is actually feasible, which in the US is impossible because everybody leaves home at ~17 years old.

Rant: I just did a survey that not only had very confusing instructions, but I never got a completion code at the end! I submitted it with NOCODE, so hopefully I'll still get paid, but :cringe:

Oh FFS the Chinese government and its henchmen/allies have managed to put enough pressure on the World Health Organisation to pretend that the coronavirus infection is not an international emergency even if people in over half a dozen countries outside the PRC have been infected.

I think the virus has been found on every continent except Antarctica.

Clearly this issue has sparked a civil war at Facebook's headquarters. Hopefully the rebels are close to storming Zuckerberg's office.

From what I can find out, they are experimenting with incorporating "Comment Ranking" in groups instead of just pages. Not sure who internally thought this was a great and cool idea.

I actually have a pet theory that Google has been making YouTube less and less functional over the years in order to drive all its users away so they can shut down that big money-sink without causing a riot.

 That could be the explanation for what Steam is doing to DotA 2 with all these recent ‘innovations’.

My theory is they are slowly trying to muscle out the independent content creators and turn it into a more traditional media platform. And I don't blame them as it is almost impossible for YouTube in its current form to be profitable just from the infrastructure costs alone.

All of their policy changes not only hurt the independent content creators, but also create a more favorable platform for large, already established media organizations.

I wonder how many users would migrate if PornHub launched a non-porn video site? They probably have the infrastructure already.
