This might not be a practical but only ever plug your laptop into a UPS. I have one of those on every floor for most of my electronics, just in case. It protects my stuff during thunderstorms and banana drops. Mind you if the coffee spilled onto the UPS then that would suck too.

No, more like "yet another farcical moment on Yavor's life in a life already filled with more than enough of those". This keeps on happening. My old laptop was crushed underneath my Mother's foot, which, to be fair, is totally my fault, as I left it down on the floor near the sofa.

Sadly, I live in Eastern Europe and I lack any of this.

What level of physicality gets the countdown running?

Just walking. Anything more intense, like lifting or repetitive movements, is more around 15-20 minutes. My limit's based on how much I can do without being less capable or otherwise worse the following days. So I can go over the limit, but with the understanding that it has long-term consequences to do that.

I can't seem to lose my waist size? Or am I dreaming? It was 32 inches, now it is supposedly 36 inches. Ok, I get it, female hormones make belly more woman-like in a sense that fat distribution changes, that was expected. But, apart from the waist, I'm super fit. I have very visible muscles on almost all body parts. All I'm missing is a nice 6-pack I had no problem getting within 4 months when I was under male hormones (wrong idea, i was born with male hormones, but I hope you get what I mean).

At this point I might dance 3 hours per day to near exhaustion to get waist back to those desired 32 inches.

Some PDFs do. I imagine that the low-quality ones with cheaply-encoded text are the worst offenders, though.

Well, maybe. PDF is intended for presentation. There's ways to make that compatible with collaborative editing but ideally the PDF format should be the final "look at this" version instead of one you work off of. There's software to encode text out of a scanned document that's in PDF but it's all a crap-shoot.

It's for a big project I'm working on and I definitely should have been there. I'm in the office now, so we'll see what teh supervisor says. The project is heavily mismanaged but me missing this meeting doesn't help

2. I love watching my guys fight in Civ V. So I always turn off quick battle animations. I want to see the little animations, they're fun. Until you get to the time period when you finally have planes. Then one bombing run takes 4 friggin hours, the plane has to fuel, take off, it flies halfway around the map, completes its mission, slowly turns around and then finally lands. And you have 12 more planes to send on bombing runs. Each turn.

And there's no way to turn on quick battle animations only for planes. Who's brilliant idea was this? The way I am forced to play is to have quick battle anims off until I research flight. Then I am forced to turn it on. I don't want to, I want to see all my guys fight. But the stupid planes prevent me from doing that.

There is a mod that just speeds up plane animations. I believe it goes up to 4x.

My psychiatrist brought up politics in my appointment with her yesterday, and started talking about who she liked/disliked. WTH.

I had a therapist do that. I assumed he was using it as a tool to get to know my stances on some key social issues which would offer insights into my mindsets, belief systems and the like. He had a picture of W. Bush on his wall and he made a joke about how the Republican party of the area mistakenly thought he was one of their big donors and sent it to him in error. He said he used to make conservatives feel at ease in their session. He could use that ease to leverage deeper conversations.

I found it more likely he was actually a big Republican donor and all of the time he spent making fun of Bush with me was part of his process. The white lie (in my opinion) about his political affiliation helped him make me comfortable by virtue of being a somewhat humerous story. It also set up a dynamic of trust by making it look like he had divuldged some secret information about other clients even though he hadn't.

TL;DR - You psychiatrist may have actually been trying to get to know you to treat you better.

When I saw your name in the rants thread I guessed you would be telling us your observations on LA drivers exposed to rain...in which they drive as if they have never seen or even heard of the stuff before and they are completely mystified.
