My sciatica is flaring up pretty bad and I'm in a lot of pain. It's my own fault though, I haven't been using my standing desk and have had atrocious posture at work the last few weeks.
Old shoes fell apart prematurely, new shoes pinch the hell out of my left big toe. Is there anything I can do that doesn't cost money to stretch out the tip of a shoe?

Yes. Search for shoe stretcher on ebay and you'll find a bunch of devices that will stretch your shoes to fit. Ranging from dirt cheat to more costly. If it's leather you can also get a liquid that you'll apply to the selected area that will soften the leather and help it stretch. If your shoes are made out of synthetic materials then it won't stretch as much.
On the face of it I have lots of reasons to be hopeful, and I'm sure I can fix things if I work really hard, but so much damage's already been done and so much time has already been wasted that I'm never going to get back, and I can't help but feel regretful, and regret is corrosive to hope.

It's always conspiracy theories and political navel-gazing, though.
