Yes, I've already done one year of phonetics. I'm right behind you, my Stalinistsarist brother.

:D (my Trotting Gaucho Comrade!l

I have 3 midterms tomorrow.

My mom, in increasingly failing health, has to go in for her third spinal fusion surgery today (already past midnight here), and while everything is expected to go as planned, I personally have always been paranoid about something going horribly, terminally wrong, since she's had serious health issues literally most, if not all, of her life. :/

@PlutonianEmpire: *mindhug*

PE, I wish you the best. My mother has been wheelchair bound since I was a teenager, and I do not get to see her that often, but she lives near my brother. I hope you can be there for her as people generally stay healthier/ recover quicker when loved ones are around.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Best of luck to her.

Midterm tomorrow, and an exam on Friday, and then another exam next Friday...does it ever end?!

Also have barely studied for the second one lawl

freaking turns, man

the philosophy of history is so. goddamn. humongous.

This night I had a dream in which I was in a The Elder Scrolls-type game, where I was assigned on a quest to kill Vladimir Zhirinovsky, but ended up making friends with him. Such a finale makes this dream a very unpleasant one to remember :shake:

Someone has been killed in the street where I work. Apparently the police had blocked off the whole street earlier this morning, which meant we would be shut down for the day, since we couldn't get into the building. I was unaware of this because I was in the gym. By the time I got to work the police had moved the roadblock back to just the crime scene itself. It looks like an episode of CSI out there, with police, yellow tape everywhere, forensics people in their white suits and bbc news people.

Edit: and some very annoyed people who still can't get to work.

Edit 2: a whole crapload more police just turned up. Two big vans full of them. Maybe they think the supect is still in the area and are going to search for them?

But Wilder unwittingly provides the terms for his own critique: "Historians are not expected to ask questions about the conditions of possibility of the historical knowledge that they are producing" (730).

No. And quite properly.

Any intellectual enterprise must emerge from some set of assumptions; questioning those assumptions is a different intellectual enterprise. The minute one begins asking questions about the possibility of historical knowledge, one is no longer acting as a historian, but as something else: a historiographer, a philosopher of history, a theorist.

Besides, one would think a Civver would be pleased that philosophers of history have finally discovered that history proceeds through turns. :)

Thanks for reminding me that there's a serial armed robber on the loose in my area specifically targeting fast food chains. The BK where I work has been spared so far, but my luck can only hold up for so long.... :( :scared:

I've been feeling lethargic and a lack of energy as of recently. Still holding out for a better job soon.

Don't quite the current one!

Rant: This is horrible. Hot winter, chilly spring, I get sick!

Move to New York City! Zero degree winters, hardly any snow, and thirty degree summers. Grand!

*celsius, that is...

Of course Celsius, I'm not going to use the Imperial system.
