Random Rants : Pissed tae th' gills

Sorry, but it wasn't meant to drag out here. I was just making a point anyway...

Well, then I don't give two craps about whether or not somebody likes tentacle porn. I assume you mean the animated variety of porn in general? I'm not even sure the cartoon fetish thing would even rise to the level of kinky. Given that nobody depicted in a Japanese(that is the stereotype here, right?) porn-cartoon is real, you could make it a loli-moster-rape-tentacle-snuff-cartoon-porn video if you want and I still probably wouldn't particularly care about what somebody decides to masturbate to.

 Don't give two craps about it then... it was pretty much concluded that in the this thread - if you were deemed to be an authority based on your race/cultural background, such as myself in this case - that it's okay to call out people for being "semi-racists" or racists, if they make associations between race/cultural belonging and sexual inclinations, jokingly or not. Hence you being called out for being semi-racist. This unless we are to be judged differently due to our race/cultural belonging. Go read it yourself. ..and don't try to accuse me of "pulling the racist card", it just proves me right.

That thread seems like an awful lot of navel gazing to go through to try and justify the occasional random burst of unwarranted feelings of self superiority. Sure then, far be it for me to ask a German poster if that perhaps his perceptions on healthy relationships may be colored by his culture. I'm so semi racist. It's so edgy. So wow.

^C'mon children, calm down. Play nice.

Spoiler :
I've HAD it. I want to rant about something in this forum but doing so would trigger a never-ending wave of bickering, accusations, arrogance, and condescension. It's impossible to criticize it without getting accused and burned at the stake.

Another rant I've made before that warrants repeating: I cannot stand it when people are jerks to each other during a debate. When you're in an argument/debate/disagreement/discussion with someone, don't be rude. You might think it feels good or makes you look clever, but it will not convince your opponent to change their mind. If you're rude to them, they won't apologize for disagreeing with your awesome wisdom or bow down and lick your boots. They'll get angry at you, dig in their heels, and become much less likely to agree with you. In short, rudeness backfires every time. I know I can be guilty of it myself at times; we all are. But it's a foolish tactic that does more harm than good to you, and yet people resort to it constantly. It's infuriating.

On a lighter note, New Vegas has such a complicated, interconnected, tangled web of plot lines and quests that it's impossible to complete them all.

I agree. As I said - it was to make a point. I thought you were aware of the other thread and wouldn't have brought it up if I knew it was going to drag out like this.

It's up to the mods to decide how far the accusations should be allowed to go in the threads. So far, calling someone a racist without being able to back it up isn't seen as much of a problem here. ...for some reason there are mostly left-wingers left in OT. Perhaps it's preferable.

Do you three realise that you call attention to your posts by placing the text in them inside spoiler tags?

:confused:Okay, now I'm seriously confused. I thought you were sincerely accusing Farm Boy of racism, and when he protested, you accused him of more racism. But are you now saying that it was just to make a parody of the witchhunt that is the Japan thread, or do you really think Farm Boy's a racist for joking that German girls are kinky?

People accuse each other of racism at the drop of a hat, and it's a pretty damning accusation. If the accused tries to point out that the accuser is playing the race card, then the accuser just says that anyone who complains about the race card is a racist and an idiot. There's no defense against it, is there?

And the word "racist" is so bandied about that it has lost all meaning. Racism used to include things like believing people of other races/ethnicities/whatever were inferior, trying to deny them rights based solely on their race/ethnicity/whatever, and so on. It was serious stuff. Now, even suggesting that a different culture may have certain differences, especially if those differences can be interpreted by someone as "negative", gets you all but accused of being a Klansman. Look at the wreck of a Japan thread- and it was a lot worse before the mods came in. Even suggesting that the Japanese views of sex are different got you accused, labeled, and insulted. You have to walk on eggshells in a minefield to discuss race, and no matter what you do, someone's going to call you racist. There's a difference between "racist" and "racially insensitive" which is lost on people. I have no faith that people are mature and reasonable enough to discuss race without savaging each other and making enemies. Race issues will always be crippling problems in a society that can't possibly handle the simplest discussion about them.

Ugh. I hate it all. I know I'm about to get attacked for this post; people get vicious whenever race is brought up or even implied. But I just had to get that off my chest. I am sick to death of the race card and self-righteous witch hunters, and I worry that their devaluation of the word "racism" and their constant accusations will backfire horribly and make it harder to point out what real racism is.

A parody of the stupidity by applying the reasoning in the Japanese-thread. I thought it was obvious enough. I guess not.

But I was almost edgy!

Yes. It's generally a mistake to talk about previous sexual experiences, I think.

I'm not even sure it's a good idea to talk about previous relationships.

Still, it depends a lot on the people involved, I suppose.
It is and does:nuke:

I'd actually be damn interested in that, and I don't see why you wouldn't.

Right and I was interested too, but then you hear something you weren't expecting and can't stop thinking about it.

I think the problem is my own immaturity rather than any real mistakes or problems. But that knowledge doesn't make it particularly easier:lol:

I came up with an idea for a new movie - Spaniards on a Bus, starring Samuel L. Jackson. Just survived (barely) the bus ride from hell; Berlin to Munich in 11 hours. Firstly, the autobahn seemed to be one giant roadwork up until about Nuremberg. Secondly, someone had the bright idea of distributing free booze to a bunch of confined Southern Europeans. Karaoke in the world's most hideous language ensued, to trashy pop blaring from a phone. They even hijacked the speaker system at one stage. A month ago I would not have been able to fathom the extent to which some groups of people are totally oblivious to any semblance of public etiquette or notion of socially acceptable behaviour, but unfortunately I've become all too used to it. The saving grace was that the relatively poor English speaking skills of the perpetrators meant I could periodically release pithy morsels of my rage without precipitating a confrontation.

Also, how Berlin can claim to be a modern city when it's impossible to buy any electronic products on a Sunday, I don't know.

They're advanced enough to have evolved past the demented 24-7 schedules of Amerika.

Its possible, I've done it before.

Took 2 play-throughs though. First one cold turkey do what I want, second one going to the wiki and finding all the quests I missed, and doing those.

Such a great game.

:yup: true, true.
I'm also happy that I don't have any hindu or jewish friends.
I want to be able to eat *something*.
I'm also not sure how I'd bake a vegan cake. I have a recipe her without flour (gluten free flour is expensive, and not sure about the almond flour), but I don't think any without eggs and milk.

I dunno how a vegan cake would work out either.

My dad said my parents converted to vegetarianism instead of veganism because real cakes and cookies and all that were too good to miss. :D

Actual Rant:

I still have no idea why my professor insists upon giving us only a week to do essays (including materials not assigned until halfway into that week, so in essence a couple days) that should take 2 weeks or more to put together. The stress and cramped schedule only serves to weaken the essays, and make them far worse than they would be otherwise.

All my other professors announce their essays months a head of time, giving students all the time in the world to plan out their schedules in terms of researching and writing it. Why can't she do that?

Rant:
Wanted to respond by posting the thing from Asterix and the Brits where he drops the tea cup - shocked - in response to Ceasar's new "strategy".
Can't find it online.

Know the first problem.
But it's easier to know things than imagining things. The latter can be far worse.

Use the train, don't be so cheap ;).

Oh, it's not only electronics. Better get used to it.

Nice reason, but not a very good one, ethically seen.

The stress and cramped schedule only serves to weaken the essays, and make them far worse than they would be otherwise.

I'm pretty sure that's absolutely the real reason for your rant :p.

This is the #1 reason why if I am joking/being sarcastic, I'll use rasist. If I'm being deadly serious, I'll use racist.

But I agree on the meat of the post--diluting the meaning of words (especially if done for political effect) should be avoided.
