Random Rants : Someone is wrong on the Internet

Well, you can still stalk the people in IOTchat :p.

Speaking of which, I think it's kind of useless to be on invisible mode now...

I did that for the last 2 weeks. It got kinda boring. Needs some fresh meat to follow obsessively.

What??? I don't have a first degree :O

I have a degree yes, but not a first.

I just want to learn some skills to allow me to hopefully start making games, and it adds something current to my C.V.

Actually, reading more about that course, it seems its not really based on programming, just 3D modelling :(

I want to learn the basics on making games.

Ads are getting so creepy that I'm seriously considering to go "off the grid".
Last year I went to the post office to send a package, and google (or somebody or something) decided that half of all ad banners I would get for the next couple of days should be for DHL. My phone isn't just spying on me on the internet, it uses GPS to track my movements.
Yesterday I read something on the Croatian language wikipedia, listened to some classic yugo-rock and called my parents who are currently in Bosnia.
Today I got a youtube ad for a Croatian cell phone carrier (I was watching videos in English). That was the first time I got an ad on youtube that wasn't in English or German and it really freaked me out. It was funny when my use of a Mandarin online dictionary (and/or my porn viewing habits) triggered banner ads for Asian dating sites, but it's not funny any more.

Here's my message to the machine : I am now aware of you. That was strike two. Scare me again like this and I can't be held responsible for my reaction.

You misunderstand, I'm afraid. A "first degree" refers to an undergraduate degree, like a BSc or a BA. "First" is used to distinguish it from subsequent degrees like MScs and PhDs.

I didn't say you had a "first class" degree. Though for all I knew, you may have had.

Oh. I cant take out a loan for a second degree, frigging conservatives!

So all I can study for free is A level equivalent stuff. I'll ring the college tomorrow to enquire about any possible courses that cover actual programming.

The CFC website is still lagging and stuff for me.

My forever alone feelings have been getting a tad bit too strong lately, but I don't want to become to desperate. Did do quite a number of pushups yesterday to vent off the energy, that made me feel a bit accomplished at least.

Windoze 10 has all sorts of "opt-out" switches to ostensibly return at least a semblance of your privacy rights. But no telling if they actually do anything meaningful.

They even take you to a site that has a list of supposedly approved vendors who directly violate your rights through spyware cookies. You can then tell them you also want to "opt-out" from their default spying mode.

So last summer I had breakouts all over a leg.

This summer:

Not pictured are breakouts on my forehead too.

Sigh ... using most of the following:

It's August 1, I'm going to be a senior next year, and I haven't visited a single college yet, or done anything to prepare for that. Where has my summer gone?:(

i feel that most college tours aren't that useful as opposed to, say, just roaming the campus. the tour guides tell you what the college wants you to hear.

Time for a shave perhaps? Would probably help ..perhaps.

I don't get spots under the beard though?

They only happen where there's no facial hair, and they develop in clusters.

I'll second this. You'll get a better feel of the college if you explore yourself, but even that is not the be-all-end-all about finding the right college.

Why did none of you who couldn't post on CFC not come to fiftychat?
They're weak and inferior and therefore expendable.
sssshhh, no one tell the peasants about cfc+ membership
Well, some of us do get paid for posting here, but we're not supposed to tell the chumps.

Oh wait.

I had no idea Rowdy Roddy Piper was Canadian until he died. It's weird, because the way the media is up here, if someone famous is a Canadian, they NEVER stop reminding us of that fact.

For what it's worth, I didn't check out campus beforehand myself, and I don't think doing so would have made me the least bit wiser.

Anyway, rant: yet another thread on american elections have emerged.

So I tried activating the character editor, aka cheat tool in my latest purchase of Avernum II: Crystal Souls to respec and test different builds... but once activated you cant turn it back off (just dont use it they say QQ).

So now I have to reinstall the game to deactivate the cheaty thing prior to teking on the hardest difficulty. I am ready!

I know India pretty well, so I can explain the phenomenon there- the public school system is sidled with an incompetent and often corrupt bureaucracy behind it and attracts bad teachers. Only a quarter of public school teachers in India are usually present in class and only half of them actually teach. So the bar for private schools are not set especially high. I imagine the same can be said for schools in many parts of the world. In the good old US though, I imagine the current education system is not so incompetent that it can be outdone by private schools that easily. In fact, I'd say in America, private schools are worse as they are usually a vehicle for parents to shove religious ideals into their children's brain instead of corrupting them with a secular education that might teach them that gasp the world is older than a few million years or something like that.
