I'm pissed at my brother for being such an @$$hole all th

<snip>

e angry, which is rare, I'm usually a patient guy. But getting agnry... It's not good for my stress and health issues and all that.

Hahahaha. Your brother sounds like a cool guy. I think he'll go far.

I just made pork and rice for the first time in my life with no recipe whatsoever. First time even handling rice.

It smells less than stellar... Time to dig in!

Rule #1: Eat it anyway.
Rule #2: Very few things are actually inedible. If you get it in your mouth but can't chew and/or swallow it, it probably is inedible.
Rule #3: If it smells and/or tastes incredibly vile, it probably is inedible.
Rule #4: If someone eats something and then drops dead, it is probably (not certainly) inedible.
Rule #5: All food costs something. Eat it anyway.

You've never made rice before? I'm a natural disaster in the kitchen and even I've made rice before.

Indeed. I sometimes hate my younger sister. A lot.

I've always wanted a cute little sister since I was little, actually.

Of course, that's probably because I have a brother.

He's ambitious as hell and a little arrogant to boot. Whether he'll crash, I dunno. But my dad and I have sort of give up on him. Let him burn out if he burns out, but if he becomes dictator of the world and forgets about us, so be it.

More trouble than they're worth. Guess who they call when they do something stupid? That's right.

"Oh I (need help on my essay/failed my test/need help on college applications/got drunk/help studying for the SAT/got arrested/ stuck at this party/got pregnant) and now I need you to give me (help/a ride/bail/money/an abortion/your car/to stay at your place). K thnx bye."

Now I admit none of that has happened. YET.

I don't know, I only have a sister. But probably.

Interestingly my favorite best friend cousin who's exactly my age has two older sisters. He's on good terms with one, and they're pretty supportive of each other, but the other one to him is more or less as you described.

That's why I think having two or even three siblings, the relationship(s) tends to get pidgeonholed easily into certain categories.

Oh well.

I wonder if it'd make a difference if I had a little sister when I was in high school or now in college, when I'm much older than her, than if she was about as old as my brother. I'd imagine that the dynamics of the relationship would be much different.

Or... well. I guess when I was younger, my parents didn't realize that siblings aren't as chummy with each other than as in the good old Asian homeland.

Is it true that girls tend to be more manipulative than boys?

It depends on what you mean on "manipulative".

 I'm shortlisted for a job, which I really want.
Last week they said they'll decide this week.
This week is over, and my inbox is still empty  :gripe:  :gripe:.
The waiting time is killing me .

Give them a call/email, expressing your continued interest in position, briefly restating some of your qualifications and express your hope to hear from them.

I'm just exaggerating. But when you're say 3+ years older because you're the first to do everything like getting a drivers license, going to college, getting a job etc... you end up being the person driving them around, helping study for the SAT, buying alcohol and things like that.

True. It's a bit like that with my brother too. I don't mind helping him and all when he asks for it or when my parents request - it's good since I'm learning how to deal with younger people, it's helping ease my parents' burdens, and it's nice to be nice, but I really wish he'd fix his attitude a bit. No, dear brother, while I do know the answers to your homework sometimes, 1) I am not a cheat sheet - you have to learn it yourself the way I did when I had no one to teach me so don't get angry when I don't tell you the full answer; and 2) just because I don't know the answer doesn't mean I'm being a @$$hole to you, I just don't know the freaking answer.

Anyhow, I really wonder whether it's just collective bad luck for a large group of older siblings. I mean, there has to be some relatively decent older-younger siblings. I mean I admit I'm only interested because when I wanted a little sister real bad (well, I still want one, even though I'm a legal adult now and my mom can't make babies no more... maybe my dad has an illegitimate kid somewhere?) I was also aware that a lot of people didn't have very pleasant sisters, and I'm just hoping it's a case of personality clash or whatever.

It's complicated. Sibling dynamics depends on so many factors. Like economic circumstances, age spacing, parental influence, just plain personalities, etc

This sounds like advice from a dog. I'd sig it if I had the room!

Don't think that's necessary.
Last time they said I'd get an invitation to a Skype interview in the next week, which took at the end 2 weeks. I think they're just a bit slow.
But it's still killing me .
Especially due to the fact that I expect the decision for another position next week, but I'd really prefer the mentioned one.

 true.

Yeah.

And oftentimes it changes as the years go by, too.

My dad told me he used to be pretty close to his second-oldest brother, since they had to survive together (along with his oldest sister) when they first came as refugees to the USA without my grandparents. Now, however, my dad is much closer with his youngest brother, and his relationship with his second-oldest brother is slightly (just slightly) tense for various reasons. I also get the impression my dad sort of doted on my youngest aunt a lot (his youngest sister) when they were younger, but I think that sort of tapered off after my mom got jealous.

I just hope that when my brother becomes uber rich and powerful he'll remember all the fun times I had trying to explain to him how he should write essays and what not and give me a nice little retirement house. That is I hope he grows out of his current phase (unfortunately not all people do, but that's what my dad and I are hoping).
