Random Rants XLIII: So Much Whinging Your Head May Explode

Virginia music radio stinks. We have three stations that play the top whatever songs. After that, we have two or three thousand country music stations. And finally, public radio, which does play classical (and opera at the Met on Saturday afternoons), but the music often tends to sound crazy every ten minutes.

Oh, yeah. There's also that single Christian music station that mixes God with country music, which yields disastrous results.

We've got like four different stripes of Christian radio here (WFCJ, K-Love, Air1, and RadioU [Which occasionally plays decent music, and with no commercials]). Surprised there aren't as many in your place.

I should mention that I live in Redneckville. Country music makes our world go round. ("Our" meaning "their". Give me classical any day.)

Perhaps trying to reinstall all my Steam games at once was a terrible, terrible idea. It seems to be stuck.

But Chicago has downtown. And I think they also have a Hygro somewhere around the place.

This is a very true statement. However, and I have no evidence to back it up, I'd guess if you hunt around the "bottom of the dial", there will be some hidden gems.

Seattle has some radio stations that have a weird mix of alternative and indie that has allowed them to become infiltrated by all of the crappy indie-alt-pop music that has started to appear over the past year, a hard rock station or two, a bit of classic rock, a few stations that play damn near anything, and then a million that only play pop music.

I swear, my mother has one of the most grating, abrasive speaking voice of any human being, and that's when she's trying to speak softly. It's like rubbing my ears with sandpaper.

It doesn't help that I tend to be very sensitive to unpleasant noise. Even ringing telephones tend to send me into a rage.

Be happy: You have a radio station which plays rock.
I actually only know one radio station which plays rock here, and that one is a good 200 km to the southwest from where I lived.
All radion stations in Germany just play the same pop mix, every hour again, with no real changes, at least that's how I perceive it.
I normally switch to the oldie stations, because I can't bear the same songs again and again (not talking about the dumb radio moderators).
At least it seems the radio stations in the Netherlands are a bit better.

I thought it was a smart move to create an account in Germany, and change it later to my new Dutch address and bank account (so that I could make some purchases before moving, and kill my time with that directly after the move...you know...games).
