I never got what's so addicting about TV Tropes. Every time someone links it, I try to read the article, but after the first paragraph it just gets boring/not interesting.

Duncan Idaho is the name of the ghola in the book Dune that is mentored by the Mentat-Bashar Miles Teg, formerly of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood. (Did he ever leave it, or was he just on retirement? I don't remember Heretics that well).
Anyhow, Duncan Idaho was a famed swordsman and guard of House Atreides. He died fighting the Sardaukar of the Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV Corrino on Arrakis before he was brought back to life as a Mentat by the Bene Tleilaxux (in cooperation with the Bene Gesserit and House Corrino) as a 'gift' to Muad'Dib, the Kwisatz Haderach, Paul Atriedes.
